Awww, that is very intimate. I imagine it would be emotional to play certain songs. I didn't notice that at the Seattle show but I was too far back (plus, no glasses). I would have liked to have seen that.

 

I remember noticing the female sign (Venus) on one of Alex's guitars. I commented on that a while back. Wonder if he has names for any of his guitars like B.B. King has ("Lucille").

My bass is named Violent Violet. biggrin.gif

OK, let's see...

 

Fender P-Bass = 'Juntos' (pronounced like 'Huntos')

Rickenbacker bass = 'Schindleria'

White Encore bass = 'Oxygene'

 

Burns Shadows guitar = 'Twelfth Shadow' (or just 'Shadow' for short)

Red Nevada guitar = 'Brendan'

I'm so unwise to the ways of guitarists... so it's standard practice to name your guitar/bass huh? Are you supposed to name them after a lover or... ? I'm curious about this.

I've been playing bass for about 6 years now. That's my main instrument. I'm not that great on guitar really. Only been playing for about 3 years I guess.

 

I think just about all musicians like to name their instruments. We fall in love with our instruments. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

There's no real 'rules' for naming guitars or other instruments. You just go by a 'feeling' I guess. All but the last in my list are named after songs, or parts of songs - Sting, Yes, Jean-Michel Jarre and Hank Marvin respectively. 'Brendan' is named after a good friend of mine who used to work in the same place as me (different job though) and who I had a massive crush on while he was working there. tongue.gif (plus, like I said above, he has a similar guitar smile.gif )

oh ok now i know! haha i have that cd but i've never taken the time to really look at the track listing. that goes for all my cds. i haven't really checked out all of the titles of the parts to the different songs and i haven't read any lyrics either. i gotta get on that! lol

 

yeah, out of all of the guys he's the one i would want to hang with. or, you know, do other things with. but he was such a pretty boy back in the day! lol

 

i was on the phone with my mom the other day, talking about the concert my husband and i went to, and my mom says "god, they all were ugly back then, i can't imagine what they look like now!" haha i giggled but i corrected her and told her they are all total babes! haha

Alexs nickname being Lerxst actually is because its an exaggerated pronounciation of the name ALEX. ALLLLLEEEERRRRRXXSSSSTTT.

It may also interest you to know that Geddys first name is actually Gary. But the name Geddy came from his friends hearing how his mother with her thick Polish accent would say his name and it just kinda stuck. I can relate, my grandparents used to pronounce my name Calistine when my name is in fact Christine.
