edmondy
Wondering if the guys plan on coming around Memphis in '08? We have that brand new complex(fedex forum!) that they may enjoy! Although Neil would probably refer to it is (overnight shipping company forum)!
OriginalFan
Knowing how the politics work in the city of Memphis, it's probably more likely we can get to see down in DeSoto. I hope so - the acoustics are better down there anyway, parking is better, and there are no panhandlers, and I'm mad at Memphis for the stupid politics and don't want them to get the revenue... But Nashville would be OK, too! Or Kentucky... or Jackson MS... or St. Louis again
King Rygar
I live in Memphis and I can tell you right off they will not be coming here. My boss is a big Rush fan, and he said they haven't been to Memphis since around 1990-ish?? If I were them, I'd go to Nashville too... This place is LOUSY!!! tupelobarchetta
Ah, the good ole days when Rush would stop in Memphis and rock the heck out of the Mid-South Coliseum. My first two Rush shows were in '81 and '82 at the coliseum. I still have the T-shirt from the '81 (Moving Pictures) show. Reminiscing about those shows makes me feel like the uncle from "Red Barchetta," telling stories about days gone by. "Come, my child, let's sit by the fireside and let me tell you about a band I enjoyed long ago ... " If Rush plays in the Memphis area in '08, Snowden Grove would be the most likely site. edmondy
I forgot about the venue in Desoto. It would actually be perfect for Rush. That way they can stay out of Memphis(shudder). Last time I saw Rush was Roll the Bones tour at the coliseum. I think Neil would appreciate riding through Memphis on his cycle.
theanalogkid
Memphis would offer a good place for me as my grandparents live in Memphis. When you mean DeSoto, is that the arena in Southhaven where the Riverkings play? I remember going there once and I liked it, it was a nice venue. edmondy
That's the one. It is the Riverkings home arena. Maybe Rush can play at the Casinos in Tunica!
tupelobarchetta
The venue I was referring to is the Snowden Grove Amphitheater. It's hosted concerts featuring the likes of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the White Stripes. But the DeSoto Civic Center is also a good concert venue. I saw Motley Crue there a couple of years ago and was impressed with it.
glennb2112
dang alot of memphis rush fans..way cool. i heard that they might play memphis. a friend of a friend of a friend told me. snowden grove sucks. both the sound and the beer line. yup one line for beer. the desoto civic center would be cool.they haven't played memphis since presto i believe. i know not since 95. we need to get a huge pre party going if they do stop in memphis. i know some bar owners who would set something up. another great point the tickets wouldn't cost an arm and a leg if you wanted premium seats. The Owl
Hopefully the rumored Tennessee Date will be in Nashville. I live in Murfreesboro Tn. Dead Smack middle in Tennessee. It would be closer for me to drive to Atlanta again (what I had to so this summer) than to drive to Memphis or Knoxville.
OriginalFan
QUOTE (edmondy @ Dec 6 2007, 02:47 PM) Maybe Rush can play at the Casinos in Tunica! Ack, no, not the casinos! That's the death knell of any band... you know they're washed up when they're playing one of those venues. I about died when Jethro Tull showed up at the Grand a couple of years ago. Let's hope can avoid the casinos for a few more years...
King Rygar
A Show of Hands from Memphis!! The last concert I went to in Memphis, and the last concert I have ever been to, was Pantera at the mid-south coliseum, Prong opened up for them, and they were getting booed, everyone wanted to just see Pantera, no one liked Prong there, and the singer started insulting us "hillbillies" and blabbering on about how he was from Brooklyn lol !! Anyways, I'd go for sure if they come here, I just don't see it happnin! If so, we should all meet up!
