About 3 CDs.. It's actually over 370 minutes of music or so - more like 5 or 6 discs. This was somewhat of a rush job (no pun intended) as I really wanted to contribute to this thread before people ceased to care (it happens with threads, ya know). I still need to do some more listening to some Jethro Tull and Yes and a handful of others to see if there's any songs I want to add, but I doubt there'd be more than 5-6 more or so. Anyway, this seemed like more than sufficient for the time being. Also, I'd like to note that ALL the songs on my list are from 1969-1977, which to me was really the golden age of prog. Don't get me wrong, prog soldiered on and is still alive today, but to me the stuff beyond the 70's is stylistically and/or sonically different enough that it's hard for me personally to classify it as the same genre. I never liked the term neo-prog much, but that fits as well as anything. I'm not putting down people putting more modern prog on THEIR lists, it's just a personal choice for me. I shied away from German Krautrock groups with the exception of Amon Duul II, and only because they sound close enough to the more traditional prog sound for me to qualify them. Otherwise, I would have definitely added some Can, Faust, Ash Ra Tempel, Popol Vuh and others in there. I do actually have a couple other German groups listed - Triumvirat and Epidaurus, but they carry on the tradition of English prog as opposed to that of German Krautrock. I noticed some other people mention some groups that are (very arguably) not really prog, but I guess everyone's definition can vary on that. You can take the word progressive and define it literally and include a LOT more music than what's generally considered more traditional prog by the progressive rock community.
