Picked spirit because of it's speed and precision.

 

Rush is not exactly a "riffy" band if you understand me. Way too much going on, too many changes in key and time, and so many bridges you think you're on the Outer Banks.

 

Personally, I prefer solos to riffs. Riffs are catchy by definition. Rush isn't a catchy kind of band. In terms of solos, I would select:

 

Alex-Presentation, from 2112

 

Geddy-show don't tell

 

Neil-Didacts and Narpets, from the Fountain of Lamneth.

 

I just selected from studio work, because live performance is another category completely.
