Did the Taurus originally have CV outputs? They might have been able to use the gate signal to start and stop the sequencer. And I'm guessing it would be pretty easy to build a pedal to change the routing of the control voltages.

Nope, no CV/gate inputs or outputs on the unmodified Taurus pedals. Shame since they would make pretty good triggers for other gear (assuming you didn't need a big range). I'm guessing for their modifications, they tapped into the CV/S-trig, converted S-trig to gate, and brought out to external connectors.

Is there any way to get in touch with Jack Secret? It would be interesting to find out how they controlled all this live.

Tony suggested I check out an article he wrote for EQ magazine, where he describes the interface system in detail. Anyone know which issue this is from (or better yet, have a copy/scan)?

we use the roland pk-5's midi'd to yamaha synths in out fledgling rush tribute. i was using a roland vintage synth module before we got the 2nd yamaha. here's a pic of my humble yet effective rig;

Me and a buddy made these out of some organ pedals and a cheap midi keyboard. cost of the project was about 40 bucks total (10 bucks for the organ on craigslist, 10 for the cheap keyboard on craigslist, 20 for wood and screws and solder haha). I then bought the Alesis Micron (amazing keyboard for the price, does everything i need), and the pedals are midi'd into the micron (you can see on the display its being put to to good use lol), and also my roland spds for samples. works perfectly
