  1. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Jan 15 2012, 02:17 PM) I say they're the best of the older bands still working, at least to my taste and ears. I think both their new records and their live shows are better. WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER no band this long in the tooth is gonna surpass their heyday; that said, RUSH is at an all time high in performance and post-heyday material. THEY ARE THE LAST OF THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC HARD RAWK BANDS THAT ARE STILL RELEVANT AND PERFORMING AT A HIGH LEVEL, and the rest of us here are grateful.
  2. QUOTE (Tick @ Aug 18 2009, 12:21 PM) I have seen two of them. Neither one of them was very good, but It was still fun getting drunk at the bar while watching them. when did you come to one of my gigs??
  3. on a trip to NYC last week i met carl roa and watched him at a blues jam that he hosts. later while checking out his excellent album "eternity", i recognised a familiar riff (starts around 0:45 on the title song "eternity"), enjoy. http://www.myspace.com/carlroa/music/songs/eternity-22339693 http://www.bigshoemusic.com/images/cd-cover_eternity.jpg
  4. my fave lizzy disc is "the peel sessions"; raw versions of their best tunes recorded for BBC by john peel; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyEoWsrvNsw http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2IjE77e29wQ/SpRxy3zM3DI/AAAAAAAAAtE/njydD_xeNtI/s400/Thin+lizzy+peel.jpg
  5. i like the hunter quite a bit, but crack the sky is still my fave. will probably see them in ashville is a few weeks.
  6. jazz fans, my old original instrumental band's cd is now available on Abstract Logix (see my sig, below). so, i'm now "label-mates" w/ wayne krantz/jimmy herring/al dimeola, ha. does this mean i can quit my job? no, because i'm unemployed! it means that instead of my cd's not selling from my kitchen table, now they will not sell from one of the worlds best jazz fusion labels, ah-HA!
  7. i've been assembling a R30 styled instrumental "riff medley" in itunes for my tribute to work up over the holidays down time, its ~13 minutes and has bits and pieces from the following; Subdivisions Xanadu Hemispheres Prelude (the harmonics riff) Circumstances Malignant Narcissism Bastille Day A Passage To Bangkok By-Tor And The Snow Dog (just the long drum fills, so our blind bassist has time to find the right notes on his keyboard, ha) Distant Early Warning 2112 Grande Finale i know you guys prolly don't care that much, but i'm caffinated and putting off studying for my tests next week, ha. cheers

  9. cheers!!! alex is one of the most creative guitarists ever.
  10. thanx. i usually play hamers.
  11. don't be hatin', tony. you might have been enthused the 1st time you saw it.
  12. Pics from last months gig at my fave dive (we're trying to get into bigger rooms locally, but the mgmt at this club has been good to me & my various projects over the years). We have added "Enemy Within", and did "La Villa Strangiato" live for the 2nd time. 1st gig w/ my latest guitar, a Jackson PC1 (yes that's phil collen from def lep's signature ax; cheesy band, but its a kickass guitar, ha). note the bumps on grants bass neck, & bandages from dialyasis (he's a blind diabetic, and a helluva guy). apologies for my cheesy harley tanktop; i brought another shirt to change into, but it was so friggin hot (plus the crowd was mostly friends), i just rolled w/ it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/brooks/notrush7-11c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/brooks/notrush7-11a.jpg My pals from the 2nd band SPANK watching our set; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/brooks/jodybrian7-11.jpg
  13. BIG MASTODON FAN HERE. excited for the new album, enjoying the live dvd now. they kicked ass live in charlotte w/ dethklok awhile back.
