tangy
I am not real familiar with his music, but the material I have heard is incredible. Definitely would like to catch him live. Listening to a sick cover of Voodoo Child now at http://www.archive.org lots of Robert Randolph shows to had there!
thestand
I learned of them via the Dave Matthews Band. DMB has taken them under their wing the past few years (Randolph has opened around 35 shows in 2005 and 2006). During shows they open, Robert comes out on stage with his lap-steel for the last 2 songs of DMB's set. On their new album Colorblind, Dave Matthews, LeRoi Moore (saxophone) and Rashawn Ross (trumpet) of DMB are featured on a track. In a few weeks, I'm going to be seeing them in a venue that holds less than a thousand. Talk about intimate.
