fledgehog
Tommy is overrated if you ask me. QP is by far my favorite album from The Who -- LRoM being my second favorite album closer by any artist. I also think that the title track is one of the best instrumentals in existance. Who's Next comes in second as far as The Who goes -- The only song I really don't like that much on that album is My Wife -- it just didn't click with me. Aside from that, I own A Quick One (Happy Jack), Ultamite Collection, and The Who Sell Out They are definately one of my favorites

PuppetKing2112
Who's Next is my favorite album of all time by anybody, Rush included. Quadrophenia and Sell Out are also favorites of mine. Tommy I agree is kind of overrated, but it's still a great record. I got tickets to see them on October 10. I know it's just Daltrey and Townshend now, but I'm still totally psyched about it. Tull Fan Too
The Who are one of my most favorite bands- I have all their albums except the first two. Including the new EP- just got that today! I tried to get tickets for the Philly show, but they were sold out by the time I got there.
xredsectorx
i love the who. tunes like "who are you" and "the seeker" are awsome. and we can't forget the never dying "won't get fooled again" and "pinball wizard". as one of my friends once said "you just can't write a song about a deaf, dumb, blind kid anymore"

fledgehog
excerpt from one of my many long posts in "3 random facts" thread in GD: 2. The Who is playing (Who's Next album) 3. I think I'll rant again 4. Cause only 3 facts is too hard 5. So yesterday I got to play on a set of Iron Cobras 6. Doubles 7. I really liked them; although seeing as how it was like my first time seriously on double pedals, it took a while to get the hang of it. 8. The other drummer had the springs really tight 9. And I was playing barefoot 10. And the beaters kept hitting my foot 11. The result being that today I was hobbling around because my right foot felt like ass 12. This time, I have another window up with "what are you listening to" thread in it, so that I don't need to switch out and copy and paste and all that bullshit. 13. It's probably gonna be a lot easier 14. I'm not sure, I'll have to wait till the end of this song to see 15. The Who 16. Going Mobile 17. Pretty good song 8) 18. fact 18 19. So you know that chick i was talking about in my last rant 20. you know the one who was f***ing around with my cell 21. yeah shes pretty cool 22. but she keeps taking stuff from me 23. oh well 24. whatever 25. fact 25 26. It could be worse 27. Like that asshat who stole a 20 from my wallet 28. When I took it out of my pocket to sit down 29. I already discussed that in my previous post 30. Behind Blue Eyes is playing 31. Awesome song 32. Too bad Limp Dickzkit had to go and ruin it 33. The Who is a lot better 34. I covered Pinball Wizard with my band last night 35. It was pretty cool 36. I messed up a stick toss though 37. It hit some rafters above the stage and came crashing down in my face 38. I still caught it in time and continued playing though 39. I don't know if anyone noticed

SpiritofRadio
I got tickets to see them in September, I can't WAIT! I'm so excited, even though it's just Daltery/Townshend, it's still gonna kick ass.

PuppetKing2112
QUOTE (Natural Rush @ Aug 18 2006, 01:02 PM) wow i loved the tommy movie too how come you didn't like it ? The Tommy movie was a joke. It took the entire thing way too literally, and it was one of those insufferable kinds of musicals where every line in the movie was sung. And none of the versions in the movie did any kind of justice to the originals. I think the Tommy album is kind of overrated anyway. It has great songs to be sure (1921, Eyesight to the Blind, Pinball Wizard, I'm Free, probably 5 or 6 others I'm forgetting), but way too many of the tracks exist solely to keep the storyline coherent, and don't stand up on their own. As a result, the album doesn't work at all as well as Sell Out or Quadrophenia, both of which are vastly superior albums.

PuppetKing2112
There is some great stuff on the 1995 reissue of The Who Sell Out, the second half after the original album ends. Meloncholia, Early Morning Cold Taxi, Girl's Eyes, Glow Girl...they had a lot of hidden jems from that period.
