thestand
I write. A lot. Most of my writings are screenplays, then novels, then short stories, in that order. But what am I getting published for? Poetry. On a whim, I saw poetry.com was having a contest, and I decided to enter. Honestly, with no thought in it, I made a short 70ish word poem, and entered. I read it after I entered, and thought it was beyond cheesy, and very cliche. But I guess, not only did I advance to the semi finals with 103 other people, but I'm being published in their next hardcover collection of poetry. One cool thing- it is a collection, meaning I still own the rights to it. Anywho, I may have 1,000 dollars in a few weeks- fingers crossed. The horrible poem itself- Faith Lights Shining down from above The pathway to truth Indirectly fall apon us all But as we search for it We need to look up But as we search the heavens We become blinded by the light Blinded from the answer By the answer The only way to find Truth Love Honesty Faith Answers Is from the rays that fall upon us all From the Lights Blech. Necromancer
Very Cool!!! Nothing like being published. Quite the accomplishment. Now good luck on your main stuff making it too. I'm sure it will.
wulfhrafnr
Been there, done that, twice. I can't find either book... *sad* If you ever pick up a book of poetry and find either: Lifes Lament or Wheel of Dreams, let me know.
