Tell me how to use the Digimax 401 (Samsung)

I don't give a flying f**k about the movie deal on it.
Just tell me how to do close ups of nature and use the red eye feature and whatever else.
I'm used to crapola 35mm point and shoot.

If you are struggling with close-ups, such as flowers, you need to turn on the "macro-mode". The label isusually shaped like a flower in the settings on your camera. This increases the aperture.

This is my favourite type of photography actually.

Here are some examples where I shot with macro-mode. Notice what happens to the background when the focus is on the object:

I'll try to look online for your camera model for the settings to turn on macro-mode.

As for red-eye, I can tell you how to get rid of it in Photoshop. The orange light before the flash helps, but doesn't always work

Photoshop 9 has a red-eye tool, and it works awesome.

Man I would love one of those Canon Digital Rebel XT's drool1.gif But for now I must do with my dad's Kodak EasyShare DX4900 laugh.gif

Great thread idea, by the way.

I saw a little girl on the subway with one today angry.gif

How people afford cameras which cost as much as my PC is beyond me.

I will eventually get an SLR, but for now, I love my pocket-rockets. I can't walk around with a $1200 camera and not be paranoid of getting robbed or dropping it.

I am using a Canon SD110 Digital Elph... I couldn't get rid of this thing for $100 today.

I'm meeting the Toronto DA people on Sunday and they want us to bring our cameras. I'm ready to be shamed out of my shitty 3.2MP 2x zoom camera.

But you know, it is still a damn good camera.

Do those pictures suck a nut or not?

I want critique. Now.

If that counts for this thread...

They were all taken with a shitty Kodak digital... lack of manual focus makes many of my ideas obsolete.

You want a critique of your camera, or your photography? If you want a critique of your photos, I'll do it on each photo in your gallery.

Yeah - overall, great focus, great perspective on all your photos. Nothing wrong there.

I just want it for the photos. I already know the camera's a piece of crap laugh.gif There are only a couple on there that I really like, most of them I don't care for. A couple I don't even know why I uploaded them O_o

But yeah, individual critiquing would be cool. If you have the time.

What kind of camera do you have barn'? I just got a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D SLR with 6.1 megapixels. Damn thing cost me $863 after taxes.

It takes pretty good shots but they don't seem to have the sharpness of my Minolta Maxxum 5xi. Unless I'm just doing something wrong. So far I've only used it in auto mode, I don't have the expertise to play with the aperture or f-stop or anything.

Once you stop using auto-mode, you'll really get clear photos.

The key to clear photos is chosing the right ISO speed given the lighting situation, or knowing when to use or not use the flash.

For example, with my shitty camera, I used ISO200 with no flash in this night-time photo. The shutter stayed open for 1 second:

BTW - nice camera you got there.

Thanks, I paid enough for it. And thanks for the tips, I'll try 'em.

That's a cool night shot. Is that Niagara Falls?

Ahh, so that's the trick. Or a trick. I never even though of doing that. . . I've seen where you can change the time (shutter I think) on my camera, and there are a lot of flash options on there.

I guess my thing is gonna be learning when to use the flash and when to not use it.

I have a Nikon D70s and it friggin rocks.

My DJ friend asked me to take pictures at a club on the 17th...so I don't need to be drinking when I have to be completely still. laugh.gif Pitch dark with lights here and there. It's going to be tough. Oh well.

If I can get shots like this? Then i'll be happy.
