That's awesome buddy. I remember listening to my favorite local radio station in 1983. It's 90.5 KVHS. It was run my students at Clayton Valley High School. One day after school I was in my room doing homework and "Hi dee hi do hi ya" started, I turned around and looked my my stereo, then Udo's shriek and BOOM! my head almost exploded like in "Scanners!" I couldn't believe what I was listening to. I fell in love in minutes. Biked down to my local record store and bought the "Restless And Wild" picture disc. I found the German copy too with the Flying Vs on the cover. Of course even then as a sophomore in high school I was buying multiple copies. LOL! Now I'm 52 and still doing the same thing!! LOL I by one Japanese pressing cd to open and play. One to keep mint and sealed.

One day after school I was in my room doing homework and "Hi dee hi do hi ya" started, I turned around and looked my my stereo, then Udo's shriek and BOOM! my head almost exploded like in "Scanners!" I couldn't believe what I was listening to. I fell in love in minutes. Biked down to my local record store and bought the "Restless And Wild" picture disc. I found the German copy too with the Flying Vs on the cover. Of course even then as a sophomore in high school I was buying multiple copies. LOL! Now I'm 52 and still doing the same thing!! LOL I by one Japanese pressing cd to open and play. One to keep mint and sealed.

 

I know... the combo of the voice and the steady double kick drums were like the sound of a big block V8. I thought at the time how can anyone top this? From what I can remember, this class also debuted Van Halen 1984, Aldo Nova, Iron Maiden and ACDC Flick Of The Switch... probably more. A guy named Mike (f-ing killer mullet) would tape KISW's Electric Lunch so we could hear cool stuff from like 1968 to 1973.

 

Ya know, Earl, a lot of people have made a bit about growing up in the '60's or early '70's and the music. I get it. Pretty ripe time. But I think we had our own thing to look forward to. We were excited to get an early copy of an album to share with a friend.

Electronics class in high school, 1983. About half a dozen of us in class were already a bunch of little metalheads. We would bring in whatever cassette was a new acquisition and play it... "Hey, check this out." That class was shit as far as me learning anything real (my fault), but was one hell of a musical education.

You nailed it my friend!! I know I missed some great concerts in the 70's but I have no regrets being burnin 1968. My first show was in 1982. The Who and The Clash and I never looked back. Being a teen in the very early 80's ROCKED! We are SOOOOOOO LUCKY!!!!!!!

I remember going over to my friend's house in 1982 and he put on "Diary Of A Madman." It blew my fuckking mind.

I remember getting the first two Iron Maiden albums on cassette. Mind blown.

We were young in a wonderful decade of music!
