g under p
Sometimes a few of us in the Random samples will highjack a thread and start talking about fishing. So I figured we could make a thread in the sporting section so we won't have to highjack threads. We can post pictures, fishing stories, and tell what the biggest fish you ever caught before. It might catch on, it might not. I'm sure troutman has some cool pictures to share with us. I will find some to post also. I'm looking forward to see some big fish pictures and fishing stories. <!--emo&:haz:--><img src='http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/1022.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='1022.gif' /><!--endemo--> Well I don't have any pictures and I didnt get to fish too often but I do remember this one catch. I was fishing the upper Potomac River in Darnestown MD (Dickerson power plant) where a power plants lets out water that has cooled it's turbines. The water released is warm and draws big bass when it runs out to the river which heads down towards DC. WELL, many Olympic kayakers train here where the waters runs fast till it slows as it reaches the river. Ok I was having a bad day no fish caught and I was ready to give up and head home when I spotted a small quiet eddy area and decided to flip into the spot. As soon as the artificial lure hit something big hit the lure, it startled me so much the rock I was standing on I fell off, hit my head against rocks behind me. I was knocked whoosey for what seemed like minutes but came to see my rod floating away from me. Grabbed it and reeled this bass in. I was just starting out in the fishing world and I was amazed how big this thing was. I weighed it and it was 8 lbs6 ozs, it's mouth was so wide I could put my fist in it. This was way before cell phones or any thought recording anything. Hell I was lucky to catch anything as much as I loved to fish. The fishes were way smarter than me, but on that day I caught a big one and a bloody knot on my head. Garth Brooks never sounded better on the way home after I released my big one. Weakly Criminal
I once caught a 300lb sorority fin. The best bait is as much beer as possible.

Khan
When I was a little kid I was fishing with my Dad while we were camping. I think we were out in a boat most of the day but I can't remember. Anyway, we would always put the fish on one of those metalsstringers - the kind with the metal hook you could put thru the gill or the bottom lip of the fish and then lock it back in to hold it in place. After a long day of fishing, we had quite the stringer full of fish. When we came back in my Dad put the fish in the water out at the end of the dock and secured them there to keep them for a while until we cleaned them later. Later on, when we were getting ready to clean them we were out on the dock when my Uncle came down to see how we did. I pulled the stringer up out of the water and off of it's tether and held it up toshow him how many we had caught and proceeded to drop the entire bunch of fish in the water! Luckily we still had our fishing equipment down on the dock. My Dad, who was always a cool character, took a large treble hook out of his box and put it on the end of his line on his pole and stuck it down into the water where I dropped the stringer of fish. He snagged the stringer and rescued the whole bunch. He had figured that they would all try to swim in different directions and was pretty sure it wouldn't go too far. I learned to be more careful with the fish after that for sure...
