  1. Would love to see some Rush Music collections. Picture (Google Drive link) of my Rush collection. Cassette and 8 Track tapes were the medium that took the beating in my youth. Took better care of my music in early 80s when started to purchase CDs (yes they're in white cases - thought would look better - was wrong). Do own all recording post Terry Brown (Signals 1982). But these recording are the ones proud of. https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing Love to see what the Rush Forum users are hiding. Regards
  2. I'm on a quest to collect all the Rush albums on vinyl! I am short by 5. But I got Test for Echo and I noticed something odd. Limbo doesn't start off with the iconic sound sample. It just goes straight into bass. And in the middle, there is no reference to Monster Mash. Not that this is a huge issue, I just mark it in iTunes as (alternate version) But what gets me is. Noone is talking about this! I google search "Limbo alternate version" or "why Limbo is different on vinyl" and NOTHING comes up. No statement from the band or the record producer or the Fans for why this edited version of Limbo appeared. Can anyone attest to the vinyl version being different and or offer me an explination for why this happened?
  3. I do not know what that writing is in the top left corner. What is it? http://pre06.deviantart.net/b03c/th/pre/i/2016/203/e/6/cheap_trick_at_budokan_vinyl_by_surrender74-daazom9.jpg
  4. Article about a specialty business that got into pressing vinyls when everyone else left. End of the article reveals that they do a lot of Rush! I'm thinking it's the reissues. I thought it was kinda interesting . . . . http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-21/groove-masters-of-the-vinyl-revival
  5. Not seen a topic on this, but in high anticipation of replacing Moving Pictures and Exit Stage Left on vinyl, I went on Amazon to preorder as they are due out next week on the 24th July. But both Amazon US and Amazon UK are saying they are unavailable and would I like to know when they will be available. Anyone know what's going on?
  6. Received both my new copies of 2112 (which is on the TT right and sounds OH SO GOOD!) and ATWAS this afternoon, and I noticed something curious about the front cover of ATWAS. In the image below, you will see starting on the left - Anthem pressing (Canada), Mercury gatefold (UK), and finally on the far right, the new reissue. What a huge colour variance! With printing controls these days, I'm actually quite shocked in the disparity. Anyone have any thoughts? I know its somewhat trivial, but it seems odd to me. http://i.imgur.com/i3VDZrS.jpg
  7. I don't really expect much run on this thread I just wanted to shout from the mountaintops that I am back in the vinyl listening business again. The last time I listened to vinyl must have been 30 years ago I would say. I have kept all my mostly 70's vinyl for just an occasion such as this. I have my original late 70's Technics turntable and my late 70's Onkyo receiver setup. I got some gift cards for Christmas and went and got 2 Klipsch bookshelf type speakers and they sound great to me. They seemed the best quality and sound for the limited funds I could spend. My son and I set it all up yesterday. The imperfect perfection of vinyl, oh how I missed it!! I have an extra room off the living room all set up as a comfy listening area. I may bring the laptop in there to as I really need to relax and get away from the television news for a while and listen to music, post on the forum and possibly even read some. Thanks to many here for the push to this moment. Without your encouragement I probably never would have done this.... and thanks again. Below are a few pics of my listening, lounge space.... http://s9.postimg.org/agc9td0rj/20150103_095303.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/nbl02ujsb/20150103_094957.jpg http://s23.postimg.org/p94ibsirf/20150103_095053.jpg
  8. Hi guys, first post here, so please forgive me if this is in completely the wrong section... I'm selling my beloved RUSH vinyl collection after having it for so many years, due to a big change in my life (for the better), I'm parting with the lot to try and raise some extra cash (begrudgingly so, though). If posting links to sales, or ebay links is against the CoC here, then please delete the post and excuse my ignorance. I'm posting the link here as I'd like my stuff to go to genuine RUSH collectors, rather than just someone with cash at the right time. I have some pretty good stuff for sale, including the 'Roll the Bones' vinyl and German release of 'Counterparts'. If you're an overseas buyer I will give you a straight up, fair postage rates quote (taken from the UK Royal Mail postage calculator) to the penny. Thanks, and I hope you guys see something you like: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/cannibal_apickanmix/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  9. Anyone explain the three versions of Fly by Night being released end of this month?

    Vinyl Wishes

My vinyl copy of Vapor Trails Remixed is arriving today (considering buying a second play copy). If the sound is as good as the digital version, I know I'm in for a treat. That, however, is not the point of this forum. As a vinyl collector, I would have to say that tops on my wishlist for The Boys to come out with next would have to be the missing live albums in deluxe multi-disc sets: Different Stages Rush in Rio R30 Grace Under Pressure Tour (although widely available versions are available on bootlegs) Snakes & Arrows Live Time Machine: Live in Cleveland (yeah, I know they did the MP version, but I'm talking the whole concert), Clockwork Angels (pending) Honourable Mention - Test for Echo...yes its a studio album, but its the ONLY one without an official release. Let's get it out! What do you think? A pipedream? Is it something that could happen down the road? Imagine...the ENTIRE collection on vinyl. A fella can dream...
  11. For over 40 years (and counting) Rush has given to its fans an immeasureable amount of musical content and collectible history. Fans from around the world can never seem to get enough of these guys, scooping up everything from vinyl to posters to buttons to some of the most bizarre memorabilia imaginable. When it comes to Geddy, Alex, and Neil, my vice starts with the music; and more specifically, vinyl. I love vinyl. The love the tactile sensation of holding on gingerly to the wax-like medium. I love the way it looks. I love the sound. Vinyl and what goes in to manufacturing vinyl, from the outer cover art to the actual grooves is pure magic. And I love Rush. Combine the two, and what you come up with a pretty nice (and still growing) collection. As with any type of entertainment collectible, there are the normal items (LPs and 45s), but every now and again, something pops up in the "least expected" pile. I stumbled upon one such thing the other day and being the completeist, I had to jump all over it. These "discs" are seemingly very rare and obscure. Called "Flexi discs", the history shows that they were a relatively common promotional item that sometimes was attached to magazines to showcase an artist or an audible message. The disc I found was manufactured by a company called Budkon. I'm not sure if this is a Russian or Polish company, but back in the early '90s, they manufactured coloured flexi discs of several artists. Note however, that these disks were "unauthorized" (wink wink). These paper-thin, single track 45s were apparently produced in very limited numbers (possibly in the dozens) and notoriously produced horrible sound. While the songs are recognizable, the background noise truly makes these non-listenable, especially as most people have these tracks on better vinyl or digitally. The covers seem like they are printed or copied on computer paper. Check out the link below for more details (referring to Husker Du flexis, but offers a really good explanation). http://www.thirdav.c...scog/budkon.htm I managed to find not onw, but three from our favorite band: Distant Early Warning (Live) Driven The Enemy Within I don't plan to play these on my new turntable with my high end cartridge, but I felt like I had to share these with both the Rush and vinyl communities. Hardly high-quality, but nonetheless, some really interesting pieces of Rush history. Do you have anything in your vinyl collection that is "out there"? http://i.imgur.com/RUOOUX3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GW28MnC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ymlNgxw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6iRPNis.jpg http://i.imgur.com/T1rwNB9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/utn0hFc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UtqBYTL.jpg

  13. Hi folks, I've owned an original grey-covered pressing of Rush Archives (Anthem Records) since new (~1979) and was wondering if anybody knew anything about the gatefold. Specifically, mine has an error: the gatefold inner sleeve is actually Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run... I have been unable to find any information about this, so I don't know how rare this mistake is, and if there are any other copies, recalled or otherwise. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, Warren
