  1. I thought the Comalies reboot was an insult from the start. It's fine if a band wants to re-record older material if they didn't like the production on the original or they want to give the song a more modern vibe but stay true to the original. A good example would be when Megadeth re-recorded A Tout Le Monde with Cristina. It wasn't that different than the original and we can tell it's the same song. On Comalies part deuce it was hard to recognize the original song with a lot of them. It's obvious they're out of ideas and don't know what to do next. Just about every other active band has released something new post covid lockdowns. Many of them wrote a ton and had plenty of good material to offer. Yet, Lacuna Coil has done nothing but butcher their most beloved album.
  2. Maybe it's time for Cristina to go solo and see what happens? I actually think she would do quite well if she stuck to metal. Many people don't like Lacuna Coil because of Andrea. Everyone seems to like Cristina though.
  3. The people that I told about them were people I already knew would like that kind of music and they all ended up fans. I find it strange that more than one person said the vocals were a turn off considering I have seen and heard nothing but praise for how good of a singer Dany is. The same for Pau as people are always impressed by her being able to sing and play at the same time. The talent is obvious in this band, if someone thinks that they are run of the mill then that person doesn't know much about music. Don't even get me started on Lava records and their half ass push of this band. Sure, they've opened some doors of opportunities for them that wouldn't exist if they were still independent. But most of the big stuff that has happened for them has to do with the bands hard work and personalities winning people over and the band's manager always working on doing something big for them. There's a lot of things that have happened with this band since I've been a fan that I don't think Lava has anything to do with. I don't care who Jason Flom, the guy who started Lava records, signed 30 years ago to big labels, he clearly doesn't have a clue how to market The Warning and make them much bigger than they currently are. I'm not a big fan of this label. I haven't been since I became a fan. Too many major things have happened with this band over the last year and a half and Lava doesn't seem to know how to capitalize on those things in order to help get the band more well known. They're just going to let the band, their management and the fans do all that work.
  4. Unleash The Archers are never going to break big. They don't have the sound for that. I'm guessing this is not the first time they have played the European festival circuit. They've been around long enough that I'm sure they've done it before. They may move up a bit in popularity but I have the feeling that where they're at now is pretty much where they're going to stay at. The Warning still have a good chance of breaking big. They're really young but already have experience in the music industry as song writers and performers well beyond their years. Their manager, Rudy Joffory, works his ass off for them and genuinely cares about their success and is pretty much an uncle to the three of them. The band themselves are also workaholics and never stop doing things band related, Dany especially. They also have a large and very devoted fan base around the world who never shut up about them and will tell anyone who will listen to them about the band. Most of all they have the talent, the appealing songs, the looks and the three of them are complete sweethearts and pretty much the most likable people in the world. It blows my mind they aren't huge yet because they literally check every box that a band needs to be big.
  5. I also think a lot of metalheads can develop a soft spot for them just like I did because the three of them are just so damn endearing.
  6. They will be playing Wacken next year. Not sure how they fit on a festival like that but good for them getting on such a huge festival.
  7. Yeah, Tyler has never not had an outstanding voice. David Lee Roth is the shits as a vocalist though.
  8. I can see Garth being an unknown over there. Country is very USA. It never struck me as a style of music that would be popular in the UK.
  9. I got them right away when I did a deep dive for the first time a couple years ago. I guess being familiar with their hits helped. But it was easy for me to roll with what they were doing and not question it too much.
  10. Nicko had a stroke back in January. https://blabbermouth.net/news/iron-maidens-nicko-mcbrain-suffered-stroke-in-january
  11. I saw them the other night for the first time since the AB III tour. Very good show at a nice outdoor concert stage set up near Lake Erie here in Buffalo. The parking situation was a bit of a bitch and the location of the stage is buried behind a bunch of trees and shit so you can't even see from the road where the stage is. Poor signage didn't help and the only reason anyone knew something was going on was by seeing all the cars parked along the main road outside of the location. It was probably about a mile walk from where I parked to where the stage was. They really buried that thing back there. Nice setup for summer concerts but there are definitely some things they need to work on. Especially for those like me who weren't aware that they changed the location of where the stage used to be. The older location was easier to find. I missed Mammoth WVH due to me not knowing where the hell I was going at first. I've lived in this city my whole life. Why the f**k can't I find this stage?😄 Sevendust was the other opener. They were good and they have been around for a while and did have some popular songs 20 something years ago. So I'm familiar with some of their stuff but there's never been anything I've heard from them that really hooked me. Alter Bridge put on a very good show. Something seemed off on the sound during the first few songs. Myles had to switch mics during Broken Wings and everything ran smoothly after. Maybe he couldn't hear himself well enough during the first three songs and that was the problem. This was the first show of this leg of the tour so I wasn't surprised that there was a technical issue or two. Still everything sounded great overall. I was hoping for another song or two from the new album. They only did three. I thought they were playing This Is War during this tour but they didn't play it here. Letting the crowd sing the chorus of Broken Wings is a great show highlight. I recorded clips of a few songs on my phone and except for my out of tune voice singing over everything they turned out good. I don't normally do much video/photo stuff during concerts so I'm no expert in using my phone for that kind of thing. I guess people who record/stream shows don't sing along? Thanks for being so boring that you can keep silent during a concert so the rest of us can enjoy it 😹 So, this doesn't happen to me too often at concerts but I did get misty eyed when they did In Loving Memory. Mark wrote that about losing his mom. I lost my mom to cancer a few years before that song was released so it has always hit me deeper than a lot of songs do. Blackbird is always a highlight but Myles isn't even trying to hold that long note at the end anymore. I get it. He's in his 50s now and that would probably kill his voice to do that at every show still. Mark's solo is the main event in that song and he nailed it. Pawns and Kings went over really well. It made me think that if they did more off it the crowd would be very receptive to the songs. The only thing I would change is that I would make Metalingus the show closer and Rise Today as the main set closer. It would have the show end with more of a bang. Plus, Metalingus has always had a this is it, finale kind of feel to me. Still I would highly recommend going to see them. They still bring it live. I didn't really have any problems with Myles voice like Segue had mentioned recently. He does do the nasal thing a lot now but I didn't notice him belting anything. The set for anyone who cares. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/alter-bridge/2023/buffalo-outer-harbor-buffalo-ny-23a430d7.html
  12. You don't know Seven Wonders or Everywhere? Those songs were pretty big too. My mom had this on cassette back then. Seems like she always had it playing in the car for about a year whenever I would go somewhere with her. Since I was a kid that was pretty often.
  13. After The Warning opened for Muse in Mexico, Matt Bellamy personally invited them to open in Europe. The tour with Royal Blood had already been announced. But Muse was so impressed with The Warning they wanted to add them to the tour.
  14. That's exactly how I see it. It's one of the biggest reasons people say there's no good music anymore even though there is a ton of it out there.
  15. Huh? Ozzy has a tremendous sense of how to use melody with his voice and create great hooks. From Blizzard Of Oz through No More Tears he was in no way a bad singer.
  16. That's no doubt a Disturbed call and I'm happy to see it. Too often in recent years established metal bands aren't taking younger ones out with them and instead are just touring with other established bands. I saw Testament with Exodus and Death Angel last year. Very good show but how many times are these three bands going to tour together? They've been doing that for 40 years. Why not try and help out a younger metal band? The same with the Anthrax, BLS and Hatebreed tour last year. Nothing against any of them but they are all established bands who don't really boost anything by touring together. Priest does tours with Deep Purple and Queensryche. I ask again, why is there not a younger band on the bill who could use the exposure? Sorry for the impromptu rant but this is something that has been bothering me for a number of years now.
  17. Ah, so you don't actually have tickets to see them specifically. That's what I thought you meant at first.
  18. Why would you buy tickets if you've never listened to them before? Macro and Wallflowers are better albums than KOE. But KOE is still very good.
  19. How is James LaBrie a bad vocalist?
  20. He's a worse vocalist than Dave Mustaine.
  21. That's who I first thought of. That voice fits perfectly in Megadeth but wouldn't anywhere else.
