  1. QUOTE (Zanadoo @ Feb 7 2010, 08:13 PM) how do you not like countdown??? It just never appealed to me. It's a little too dorky for me to take seriously. I hate the synth line before the riff at 2:56 (which I agree, is a pretty badass riff) and the solo is weak.
  2. Chemistry. Such a different sounding song for the band, yet so undeniably Rush sounding. I've really grown to like this song.. (now I just have to work on liking the other "C" song from that album...)
  3. Off-topic, but if you guys enjoy a good rickroll, this DT one kills them all:
  4. BoB was truly amazing...I've been catching it on HBO every Sunday. I will be watching The Pacific religiously when it starts
  5. I always thought family shows were kind of lame, but this one was actually very funny and unique for the first few seasons (or at least until they started doing "serious" episodes)
  6. One of the most spectacular prog metal bands from their first album Entropia to their fourth album Remedy Lane. After that they sort of lost their minds and released Be and Scarsick which just do not accurately capture the sound of the band I fell in love with on their first 4. Although, you said you liked Scarsick so maybe you'll dig their new direction more than me. I HIGHLY recommend Remedy Lane and The Perfect Element 1. TPE1 is actually the first part of a grand concept, with SS being the second part. Those two albums are pure perfection.
  7. 7/10 Not a huge fan of the prog scene anymore, but these guys have elements of Porcupine Tree (one of my all time favorite bands) so I can't help but enjoy their sound. I'd like to hear the rest of the song Death Cab For Cutie
  8. He was the only interesting part of that show. Let's hope this spells the end of AI
  9. I got the 1st edition when it first came out and thought it was a great read. I wish he had gotten more in depth when it came to their later albums, and writing processes and such, but it was still a good read. I hope they fixed the typos though, the edition I got was FULL of them.
  10. I like the one where the guy wakes up, and he's the same - but everyone else is different!
  11. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Dec 20 2009, 07:08 PM) QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ Dec 20 2009, 06:30 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ Dec 20 2009, 05:30 PM) QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Dec 20 2009, 04:41 PM) One question I've been wondering (spoiler below, highlight to read) What will happen to Astor and Cody? If I had to guess, they'd probably go to live with Rita's mom or Paul's parents. My guess is they'll live with Rita's mom and she'll start asking questions and suspecting Dexter and maybe do some investigating about him and turn up something. I'm pretty positive they will reveal part of Dexter's true self to Deb next season though, the time is ripe She's put the pieces together as far as the link between the Ice Truck Killer and Dex, so it won't be long. I can't see her keeping quiet about it though, so maybe Dex has to kill her? That's too many hot women dying on the show...I cannot allow any more eye candy to be killed off...

  13. Very sad to see a beautiful young woman die so early (Lindsay Lohan is probably next). I'd hate to see that it was drugs that took yet another life from us too soon
  14. Well, my head just exploded after watching that finale. Quite possibly the last thing I expected to happen. She was looking ridiculously hot this season too
  15. These past two episodes have been loaded with suspense. I guess there's only one more episode left?? I didn't watch the preview for next week, but I assume Dexter is going to have to watch his family closely as it seems fitting for Trinity to try and mess up his family life now that Dexter's messed up his. Going to be insane! I'm disappointed they killed off Christine Hill so quickly, it would've been interesting to see that play out a bit more, with Quinn and everything.
  16. Ummm....I believe a "Holy shit!" is in order... These last few episodes have catapulted this season to become my favorite Dexter season yet.
  17. I forget if I posted in this thread already...but as I've been on a HUGE Yes kick lately after not listening to them since I bought their newest remasters 5 years ago, I feel compelled to post in here. My top 5 list! (my omission of certain well-loved albums might surprise a few) 1. Relayer. It boggles my mind that mere humans could create something as magnificent as The Gates Of Delirium. Probably the best prog "epic" ever made. I could listen to it all day. To Be Over also makes me feel tingly, and Sound Chaser is probably the most fun Yes song I've ever heard. 2. Tales From Topographic Oceans. I don't know how, but I can remember every single note and lyric from this album. Sprawling and intense, Ritual is my favorite movement, although the Leaves Of Green section of The Ancient might be my singular favorite moment in all 80 minutes. 3. Close To The Edge. It's their classic album. 3 songs in 40 minutes, not a dull moment. I Get Up, I Get Down is my favorite moment of the entire disc, and the main riff of Siberian Khatru is Steve's coolest guitar riff EVER 4. Going For The One. Awaken and Turn Of The Century are stunning, and this is definitely the end of Yes's glory days. They'd never hit such expansive heights ever again. The other songs are cool too, but SO overshadowed. 5. Big Generator. AHHH!!! I must be the only person on Earth who finds this album brilliant. Not a single moment I dislike on here (...well, maybe the "chez nous" lyric...). I'm Running is probably tied with Sound Chaser for most fun Yes song to listen to. The songs feel more artsy than 90125 (which falls almost dead last on my list of favorite albums, just slightly out-sucked by Open Your Eyes). That was FUN!
  18. Just watched the new episode. Excellent as usual. Definitely looks like Quinn is headed down the same path as Doakes, but I hope they put an interesting twist into it, as Dexter cannot just kill an innocent man. Unless Quinn has killed innocent people before...aka Vacation Murderer. The Trinity/Dexter situation is getting extremely interesting IMO, I have a feeling one of them is going to spill their secret to the other very soon (possibly Dexter since he just killed his first innocent person). Trinity's instability is really starting to show.
  19. Curse my lack of Showtime and having to wait until Monday morning to watch it!!! Cannot wait though...
  20. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Nov 2 2009, 01:38 AM) So... Is Dexter really going to let Rita keep getting close enough to know the truth about him? Does she know what's in the trunk besides the shotgun? How soon will it be before Dex is dismantling Trinity? I think we can see that he's easy picking for Dexter's syringe anytime he wants. Or does Dexter see Trinity as a valuable learning tool that must be used some more before he's sliced and diced? Are we about to find out that Hank is Dexter's real dad from an affair with his informant mom...thus he's Deb's real brother? Just throwing these out there. BTW...Rita is smokin' hot as if we didn't know that already but it had to be said. Awesome episode! I think I read somewhere that John Lithgow will be in all 12 episodes so I'm expecting him to last all the way until the end. It was great to see him expose his dark side to Dexter over his sister's ashes, I somehow think the two of them are going to become friends, much the same way him and Miguel Prado became friends. Maybe even to the point of letting each other in on their secrets. I think that hammer is going to somehow come back and put Dexter in a bad position regarding the last Trinity murder. As far as Rita goes, I foresee some evidence slipping out that Dexter might be a serial killer, but for obvious reasons, he'll lie and cover it up. And yes, she is SMOKING HOT this season and wish they'd make her naked in many episodes to come
  21. QUOTE (Pags @ Oct 31 2009, 09:17 AM) Dark Matter from Signify is the very first song I heard from them, and the floaty psychodelic lush sound is what grabbed me. But then I heard the more recent stuff and I haven't been able to stop listening. I need to dive more into the earlier material now. Dark Matter is a brilliant song. I'm rather envious of the way Steven allows his music to expand in unfold in such a natural way. I've used him as an inspiration a lot in helping me develop songs more fully instead of being so compact and time/space-conscious with them. Early PT is amazing stuff. Cure For Optimism, The Sky Moves Sideways, Stars Die, Always Never, Burning Sky, Buying New Soul, Sleep Of No Dreaming, Dark Matter, and Voyage 34 are my favorite early PT songs
  22. It's amazing how unique a vibe they had pre-In Absentia. IA is probably my favorite album of theirs but they lost that great psychedelic vibe they had on the earlier albums completely by then. The Incident feels a bit more in that direction than FOABP or DW which is probably why I love it so much.
  23. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Oct 26 2009, 07:01 PM) Hey, you're right! Hmmm, first on scene? Your theory is looking good. I only wonder if the writers have planted all that as a red herring. But really, I do hope it turns out to be Quinn. That has great potential. Well, Test4VitalSigns actually came up with that theory and I piggybacked but yeah, it'd be awesome if it was really the case. I think it'd actually be a GREAT story arc for season 5 if Quinn never gets caught as the vacation murderer, and Miami Metro now has TWO killers in its department and both Quinn and Dexter slowly find out about each other and have a kill-off or something. Wishful thinking...
  24. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Oct 26 2009, 04:56 PM) Great theory. I had forgotten about the watch. Nice catch. And don't forget about him stealing the money from the crime scene. So he isn't above skirting the law. That would be a great twist if it was Quinn. To further ponder about Quinn's involvement, I remember a line in last night's episode about him being first on the scene to the shooting. My gut is telling me he's either the vacation murderer, or a copycat
