Take out Workin' Them Angels, Subdivisions, & Faithless, and stick in Grand Designs, Open Secrets, and Chain Lightning instead

Steven Wilson - "Grace For Drowning"
GrandDesigner replied to Wilderness_of_Mirrors's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Those times seem weird. They all end in 5 or 0. That definitely looks like the tracklist, and I remember him mentioning a 23 minute song. Maybe they're just rounded off. -
I download a ton of music. Most of it is out of curiosity (aka bands I wouldn't buy cds from otherwise) and occasionally I'll stumble onto a winner and discover a band I really love. Then I'll buy their music. I really only buy music from bands who have 'won me over' so to speak.

God bless Rush for being so....NORMAL. Seriously, the Yes guys have created some amazing music but they just cannot seem to put their bullshit aside and just be happy and create music and play. I will be buying the album on Tuesday when it comes out. I am excited! I really hope there is at least something redeeming on it. I really liked Magnification and The Ladder, so if this at least brings me as much enjoyment as them, then it'll be a success in my eyes.

QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 5 2011, 04:34 PM) QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ Jul 5 2011, 04:22 PM) Methinks more people need to hear Still Life. I think more people here need to hear Morningrise and Orchid Or just the first four in general. MAYH, Morningrise, and SL blow away their past 5 albums but no one seems to listen to them as much as the newer ones Orchid possibly has the most interesting song structures they've ever done but it just doesn't feel the band is quite gelling on it. God how I wish Lopez played drums on the first 2 albums
-
DT definitely. Tool is much too one-dimensional for me to put them above the band that's written A Change Of Seasons, Learning To Live, Trial Of Tears, Lines In The Sand, or Octavarium

I like the one where they do the bass groove/ostinato, with a tom rhythm, and Maynard chanting on top

Anglagard is awesome! I used to listen to Hybris constantly on my drive to and from high school. Just downloaded Epilog and will listen to it asap

I just realized that the beginning of Sanctified reminds me A LOT of Waiting by Porcupine Tree -

Just finished it. Great intro song! I'm genuinely excited for this release. It sounds more dynamic and adventurous than what they've been doing the past few albums, and the drums are finally pushed back a bit. Good solo too

Two minutes in and I already like it better than the past few albums

Holy shit...there's now a Yes and YesWest again??? I liked both. Talk is an incredible album, which I'd love to see performed at some point.

Mainly Dream Theater, Opeth, Steven Wilson, Yes, and Portnoy's Morse/Morse/LaRue/McPherson/Portnoy thing. Not too into the Adrenaline Mob sound at the moment

Shoegaze was such an underrated genre. I love everything about it -
Steven Wilson - "Grace For Drowning"

Steven Wilson is one of the few musicians who just "gets" it. Everything he does has such quality control over it. The man is a true artist in every sense. The visual aspect of his work is quite haunting as well. Love both clips. I am excited -
QUOTE (tick @ Jun 23 2011, 08:59 AM) Is this legit??? Sounds good. I can't be sure. It definitely has LaBrie on vocals, sounds like Jordan Rudess, but I'm not familiar with any DT side projects so I can't assume that it's not one of their solo tracks that someone put up trying to fool everyone else. Could definitely be legit though
-
The Breaking All Illusions I heard is pretty convincing. Definitely has LaBrie on vocals, is a song length that I could not find in his solo album tracklisting, and sounds like Rudess on keys at the end. If it is, I'm happy that they're at least pulling out some major chord stuff again!! James sounded incredible too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAxdslSXMGk...player_embedded
