  1. My son wanted some tracks for his art school application. So downloaded reaper, dusted off a tascam I/F and threw down some mics. He played HS jazz band so he wanted to go that direction. "give me some beats" .... Recorded three "improv" tracks- this working man progression, a tune I call groovy girl and machine head bush ;) The bass : Went with a rolled off jazz tone. Felt like riffing & took me a few takes to actually get close to what was I was thinkin'! I don't play bass often, nor jazz ;) Guitars: The iconic riffs in Working Man omg. I went with a couple of the cooler riffs and of course had to finish with that D-chord bender! Samples: We drop into this effin cool grove for the chorus, I hold a bass E under the guitar then join back up on the G-A. I put Ged over top of that. But the track tempo is slower than the orig so had to stretch those to fit Vocals: Obviously lyric speaks to just being absorbed in work, and life/world is going on around you. 10-12 hour days, "got no time for living" I updated to "Logging on at 7 yay I'm going to work at 9" and logging off. Just happen to be looking at some company videos, of a working bakery and it fit perfect!
  2. x2.. I was also at this show (opened by was it McKenna Mendelson Mainline? - I just remember blues grunge and they were pretty crazy & so Canadian!) Anyway I will confirm the opening song was 100% Bastille Day. So the setlist is wrong. I also agree that mid-show there could have been parts of The Fountain played (in a kind of medley) Lots of dark stage moments with spotlights in purples and blues, very old-school theatrics. Projection screen behind the band. By-Tor and the Snow Dog was insane, definitely a highlight in its "entirety"! Necromancer was in there. The show closed out with the staples in the Mood and FBN, Working Man might have been the encore, not quite sure on those. After the show at Massey we had some time to kill so we hiked the fire-escape stairs to a big black metal door- and there was noise etc. So one of my buddies (there was 5 of us) bangs on the door. In like 5 or 6 seconds it opens (road manager) and I was staring at Alex holding a Molson Ex and eating a grape from the post-show buffet. As a 16 yo guitar-playing kid I was so stunned I almost p ---sed myself, turned around and friends gone, running down the stairs. Yeah I took off too!
  3. I flip through it at the start of this clip. Original Moon copy 1st album, Fly by night, Caress of Steel, Farewell to Kings, a few more in there and of course Hemispheres... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSlGgA-mvcE
  4. The hot nose comes from an overall circulatory issue, and is a real warning sign. I have (or had) the same thing. Digital cameras just light it up too. Over the years of your life, refined sugar, salt and fat wreak havoc on your body, primarily the arteries. Combine that with stimulants - smoking, coffee, and the sugary booze.....inside your arteries and veins, your blood is not flowing like it should anymore. The tissues of the nose are of course jammed with small capilaries and flow is disturbed causing the redness. Especially after eating or a days worth of food injestion it was really bad. I knew something was not right. So for me, I jumped on my bike and started riding. Not a drop of alcohol for 5 years now, mostly veg diet, and as much as I can I have reduced fat and sugar intake. A couple years ago my daugther was in a triathlon, so I also started training for triathlons - swimming, biking and running. Three years into that, with constant training, bike commuting and just hating running cause it put me firmly in the hurt box - I have no more red nose!! :codger: NP would have a lot of work to do, it can be done but he'd have to ditch the BMW and pickup a Cervelo, or Argon and make some drastic changes in lifestyle and workouts, tour way less too. On the road it is extremely difficult to eat correctly for this condition. Your diet is limited to steamed veggies, fruits, whole grains and nothing in a package or from a buttery-oil lathered restauraunt. It's near impossible when you are out and about.
