  1. QUOTE (Stickman @ Oct 27 2005, 03:37 AM) My Heros http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v608/Stickman1984/BusenandBeaker.jpg Beaker is one Cool Ass Dude
  2. I think if they get a male singer it might be a plus. This might be a good move for them IMO. She's the main reason I didn't care much for their music. I am anticipating hearing them in the future. I emailed the band and told them "Good Move".
  3. QUOTE (endlesslymocking @ Oct 20 2005, 11:02 PM) Are these guys Christian rock? That's the first question I asked.
  4. QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Oct 21 2005, 01:08 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Oct 20 2005, 09:47 PM) Shania Twain is really good at lip sync, I mean shes REALLY good at it. Practice makes perfect. Couldn't be more wrong, at least about that performance. She might have been singing there but she does lip sync a lot. I remember at the super bowl 2-3 years ago, it was rediculous to watch because it looked so fake. Studio voice all the way, then Gwen Stefani and Sting saved the day with a brilliant REAL LIVE performance. Don't get me wrong, anytime I'm flipping through the channels and see a Shania video, I am watching it until it ends. I don't know if I buy the best band in the business part though, I'm sure they are good, yeah.

  6. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Oct 14 2005, 09:45 PM) I can't believe you guys don't like that song... The Black Eyed Peas are obviously the most talented musical group to arise in quite awhile. They write pretty catchy hooks thats for sure.
  7. While we are talking about depressing music, (sorry if I changed the subject a bit) I saw U2 last night, who is probably one of the biggest bands in the world right now. Anyway, 3-4 of their songs were so depressing that they brought tears to my eyes. I'm not a depressed person either, I cried maybe 2 times in the last 5 years, for good reason too, not just because I was listening to a sad song or anything, but not 1 not 2 but 3 times last night tears came to my eyes during "Still havent found what I'm looking for" "One" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday", when he was saying "wipe your tears away" I was just doing that, ironicly. I've heard people say they shed tears during a Rush concert but their music never hit me like that, hell, like I said I rarely shed a tear for any reason for years, since I was a little kid. My point is, a lot of music is depressing, a lot of popular music is depressing, people must relate to it or something. I don't know. This has never happened to me before so I instantly thought of this conversation. Nirvana has some songs that aren't depressing too though, but he must have been a depressed person to write so many sad songs so that's how his music came out. You try shooting up herion to take away your pain because nothing else helps and see how it changes you emotionally. I bet it does. I was pissed when he killed himself but I can't say I didn't see it coming. As far as Nirvana being the cause of people not soloing, I still don't see that. Half their songs don't have solos but some do, he sucked at soloing but his songs didn't really need solos to be honest. It's hard to blame it on Kurt that everyone tried to copy off him and write good songs without ripping leads through them. There are still a lot of bands that still rip but I feel a lot of people didn't like that part of rock music anyway. In music, things seem to come back around, and I think that part of music is already coming back around (soloing). Another thing is, if people don't like the fact that there are less soloing than in the 70's and 80's then those should be the people who are running out and buying a guitar, learning scales and modes and making their own music in the way they like it, counting on everyone else to do it isn't getting anyone anywhere. Grab a guitar and learn some solos and write ya own music. There, problem solved. It has to start somewhere. Git er Done!!!!!
  8. QUOTE (anagramking @ Oct 11 2005, 05:28 PM) QUOTE (Indica @ Oct 11 2005, 04:04 PM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Oct 11 2005, 12:07 AM) Rock is about emotion and Nirvana was about pain and anger. Yes, very true. I think Nirvana had so much success is because a lot of people in the world related with what he was expressing. Solos are one way of expressing emotion, but in music there's more ways than one to express yourself artistically and if a lot of people can relate with that then it's a lot easier to become popular. How many other bands do you often hear people saying that they changed the music scene overnight. Not too many, a lot of people have to relate and connect for this to happen. It don't happen often. What song and lyrics are an example of what everyone related to? An example of a song and lyrics that I related to was "Pennyroyal Tea", I can't speak for others and which songs they can relate to but obviously they do also. It may sound stupid to you but at the time he wrote this tune I had bad stomach ulcers and was in pain for 7-8 years in a row, became depressed and I played guitar in a band as he did. I'm not claiming I'm exactly like Kurt but his story behind the song he wrote matched mine in many ways, and evidently a lot of others too. I heard an interview and he told what this song was about and I was like wow, THATS ME. I'm on my time with everyone I have very bad posture Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea Distill the life that's inside of me Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea I'm anemic royalty Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld So I can sigh eternally I'm so tired I can't sleep I'm a liar and a thief Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea I'm anemic royalty I'm on warm milk and laxatives Cherry-flavored antacids Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea Distill the life that's inside of me Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea I'm anemic royalty

  10. I have to say Country Music is the worse, most of it makes me want to vomit. Although a lot of Hip/Hop sucks, there are some songs I like, some are kind of catchy. Most of the ones I like have real bass and Guitar in it, real drums really helps out a lot too. But I hate when they use samples from other peoples songs and splice them into their rap, ANYONE with a computer can do that. I could sit and do it all day if I thought I could make a lot of money, but generally, I think it's lame.
  11. QUOTE (anagramking @ Oct 10 2005, 03:24 PM) I like you, I'm not coming back, I kill you I'm not coming baaaaaaaaaack. No I don't have a gunnn.... That's ingenious, clever!!!!
  12. QUOTE (anagramking @ Oct 8 2005, 08:39 PM) I couldn't decide. But why did you leave off Nirvana? You want to talk about a person that destroyed the concept of rock guitar, it was Kurt Cobain. And that is why nobody solos anymore, to answer someone's earlier question. omfg I totally disagree in more ways than one. Cobain played leads but they just weren't that great compared to some of the great guitarists. Some of his songs don't have solos but who says every song needs a solo anyway? I got tired of every song being laid out the same way every time, verse chorus verse chorus, solo, verse, etc, etc, whatever...... Some bands before him played and didn't have solos so I don't see why everyone claims he changed rock-n-roll in that way. It just goes to show you that if you have a good song then it don't necessarily need a solo to make it a great song. Music isn't meant to have a formula that everyone follows, it would get mighty boring if so. Cobain had a lot of things in his music to keep it not boring, in my opinion. And this is coming from a "solo freak" (Me).....I spent Hours (days, weeks, MONTHS rather) of my life learning note for note leads from guitar greats like Randy Rhoads, Eddie V-H, Alex lifeson, Jimmy Page, Clapton, etc, etc. In other words, I LOVE leads, but I also like bands that are good enough to write good songs that are good without a solo. Did I mention that Cobain played solos in some of his songs? So if bands are not playing solos in their songs then how can it be because of Cobain, who DOES play solos in some of his songs?
  13. You eat the yellow snow you eat it, I'll wont but I'll feed it, I can write my name in cursive so how you like them onions?
  14. Just heard the single from the upcoming Hypnotize CD thats coming out in Nov from System of a down. Last week when we saw them they played it for the first time. Pretty cool tune. Listen to it here
  15. "Seasons Of Wither" is a pretty cool tune. Yeah Rocks is their best CD, IMO Back In The Saddle, Last Child, Sick As A Dog & Nobody's Fault are all cool tunes.
  16. QUOTE (endlesslymocking @ Oct 3 2005, 03:08 PM) Theres this audio file I have. Called "work it" by justin timberlake And you admit it? LOL just joking. Donna has a few of his mp3.
  17. QUOTE (Indica @ Oct 3 2005, 01:11 PM) That's why I asked if that was one of their good songs, I thought maybe I could have possibly picked their 3 worse songs to listen to. Not every band is like Rush to the point that ALL of their songs are great. If you understand where I'm coming from, I'm sure ya do. Basically what I'm saying is, Rush is the ONLY band that I like 99% of everything they do. That's why I'm here. OK, to clear up what I meant by this...... I was wondering if that's one of their better tunes, I only listened to 3 of their tunes, I thought maybe I picked some not so good ones. When I mentioned Rush, it was to point out that I like everything they do, and it's the only band like that for me *besides maybe zep*.....so I figured I picked some of Nightwishes not so good tunes to try them out, and maybe there were some better ones that someone could tell me about to help me understand why I see their name so much. When I said RUSH is why I'm here, I meant they are my favorite band, and the only band I like ALL their music, and I don't expect to like EVERY song from a band I just started listening to, so I kind of figured that you would point me in the direction of some of their more BAD ASS tunes. I didn't say RUSH is the only thing that should be discussed on the forum. I suck at explaining things, it seems that I get misunderstood a lot around here and people take things way different then how I mean them. I think people turning others on to bands they may have never heard of is an EXCELLENT idea. But by all mean, no one should expect EVERYONE to love a band just because they do. The bands I like are so diverse, for instance, I don't even like R&B but I think Alicia Keys is totally awesome, I like Heavy bands like Pantera, Slayer and I also like to listen to simple basic rock like Green day. I would NEVER expect people to like all the bands I just mentioned, some people might like half of them maybe. I totally understand that different music turns different people on, and not others. That's life, if the solar federation had their way then
  18. QUOTE (rickyrob @ Oct 3 2005, 03:32 PM) so we'd better stop all the other threads about all other things then, like Gridiron teams, films, other types of music, and all the other non- related things eh? - Why would we do something stupid like that? Because some people can't handle that not everyone likes the same thing? That's ludicrous. I really didn't think that asking a simple question would tick someone off so bad. I still never got an answer, is Nemo one of their good tunes or what? If so I will stop wasting my time trying to figure out why people like this band and realize it's not my type of music and move on LOL. Now ya understand why everyone has their own CD player in their homes.
  19. QUOTE (rickyrob @ Oct 3 2005, 12:56 PM) If I'd just listened to a track of a band I'd not heard before in a similar way you are doing, and thought it was good, bad or indifferent, I'd say what I thought about it, and wait for responses. If you asked a question about a band that you just heard for the first time and I knew the answer then I would answer the question and not give a shit if you liked it or not. I understand people have different tastes. If I come in a thread about a band you liked and I said something like "That crap totally SUCKS" then I could see why it may bother you a little bit. But I respect that people like different types of bands. But if you want my honest opinion, and this is just my preference, I got annoyed with that singer real quick and if the rest of their songs had that type of vocals in the 3 that I've heard I simply couldn't handle too much of it, not that shes a sucky singer or anything but I just didn't enjoy it like I do some other music, but that's just me, that shouldn't affect anyone elses opinion. That's why I asked if that was one of their good songs, I thought maybe I could have possibly picked their 3 worse songs to listen to. Not every band is like Rush to the point that ALL of their songs are great. If you understand where I'm coming from, I'm sure ya do. 20. "Honey Hush" from Foghat sounds just like "Train Kept a Rollin" "Under Pressure" By Bowie sounds just like Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" Bowie Ripped Vanilla Ice off!!! AHAHAHAH just joking.
  21. QUOTE (rickyrob @ Oct 3 2005, 04:04 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Oct 3 2005, 06:41 AM) QUOTE (kazzman @ Sep 30 2005, 09:08 PM) Who votes that TRF also changes name to "The Rush/Nightwish Forum"? No way I just watched the video on aol.com for "Nemo", is this one of their good tunes? JOKE!! If you can't say anything nice,...don't say anything at all. What I can't understand Indy, is that its obvious you don't like them, so why even bother posting in the thread? I'm sure there's plenty of music you like that others don't. There is a provision for posting threads about other bands on here, this thread is just one of them. I never said I didn't like them. I didn't say anything bad about them although after listening to them that would be really easy. I don't understand why me asking a simple question seems to upset you. As far as changing the rush forum to nightwish/rush forum that would be silly, ok ok it's a joke, ha ha. I'm just wondering if this is one of their good tunes, I only heard like 3 tunes from them and I don't know if I'm just picking the bad ones to listen to or if these are their good ones. I'm trying to figure out why people talk about them so much and by listening to them I can't figure that out. We all have different tastes in music. And by the way, the more I listen to them the more I think they sound like hundreds of 80's bands. I understand that I like bands that a lot of people here don't, I can't help it I have better taste than most. I just seen the name of this band a million times on this forum and was trying to figure out why, that's all. No big deal. I could see if I came in this thread and said "THESE GUYS SUCK", but I didn't. Relax, until I start totally trashing them then you shouldn't give a crap about what I think about them. Do you know how many times over the years I heard people say that Rush sucks and Geddy had a crappy voice? I overlook that crap because I know that not everyone has the same taste of music as me, that's why there's like 1,000,000 bands to choose from. So unless I'm praising a band then I can't ask a question about them? That's silly as f**k.
