  1. Bones has a lot of sentimental value for me.. I'd just turned 21 when it came out. Loved the tour. I was living in FL going to school . Had a fun girlfriend and was lovin' life. Lots of great songs on that record. A few weak ones too, but the strong ones carry it, for me.
  2. Tiny writing on a messageboard is a Cold Fire. I see what you did there.
  3. Thank you. Much as I love 2112... no. Just, no. What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound...
  4. Caress has grown on me significantly over the years. The next time I play a Rush record top to bottom, it'll probably be Caress of Steel.
  5. BALLS, baby. Bowling balls, Ballroom dancing balls, you name it. They both rule my universe (Zep and Rush). Don't make me choose. BALLS to PICASSO Signed, Bruce Dickinson
  6. I realized that I listen to at least a couple Rush tracks per day, since I play my phone on shuffle. But I don't think i've listened to a full album in a while. So...they're always there, but not in an ALBUM kind of way. Example: today I heard the R40 version of Subdivisions on the way to work. Yesterday afternoon it was La Villa from Rio.
  7. HYF is still #2 for me, right behind Permament Waves. Lots of love for HYF, I honestly didn't see this coming. HYF is a polarizing album, no doubt. But yeah, lots of us love it. (or MOST of it anyway! :D) I'm one of those unique ones that (like Segue) loves the whole thing.
  8. Phil is the main reason I play music. He was the guy that got me real serious about, well, everything.
  9. Last weekend, finally picked up the out-of-print 60s Soul box from RHINO. Came out 20 years ago and has been out of print for a while. 6 CDs of great soul music. Retailed for $60 but I found a copy for $20. It's the one that is packaged in what looks like an old box of 45 RPM singles :)
  10. I can't discount the Perry-era Journey because of my love for Steve Smith's drumming :) I do like a lot of the tunes too...
  11. I tried this yesterday and abandoned it. Gonna try again. For me ROCK is anything that's not jazz, or soul. 1) The Who - Who's Next 2) Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 3) Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die 4) Grateful Dead - Europe 72 5) Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps 6) Yes - The Yes Album 7) Rush - Permanent Waves 8) Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy 9) Pink Floyd - Meddle 10) Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour These are albums that have stuck with me for many many years.... I need at least 20 .. 50 or 100 would be more like it!
  12. Me too. I don't think 50 is enough, either. I just can't do it! i was thinking all last night about this.......can i make a list? no!!! lol. i applaud the brave souls that actually can. kinda wow's me. Mick In reality mine should be 50 or 100; 10 is HARD!
  13. My friend Rita is doing her show on Deep Nuggets right now.. her theme is "Jangle"... so in addition to the Replacements/REM/Big Star, she's playing Beatles, Byrds, Seekers. It's wonderful. Just heard: Byrds - Feel A Whole Lot Better Beatles - Eight Days A Week and a bunch more.
  14. actually that applies to a shit ton of musicians. you could take it a step futher and say the very Idea of making music is pretentious, lol Mick LOL - that's why I laugh when people accuse musicians of being pretentious. OF COURSE THEY ARE. They are creating something and a lot of the time they're trying to create something either a) beyond their immediate capabilites (that's how we grow, how bout that!) or b) something "great" or "memorable".
  15. Bruce.... I'm pretty much all about Album 2 and Album 3, and i like tracks off the rest. LOL! So instead of doing 10 albums, I'll do 10 songs: 1) Rosalita 2) Jungleland 3) Trapped (Jimmy Cliff song but he KILLS it) 4) One Step Up 5) The Rising 6) The River 7) No Surrender 8) Born to Run 9) It's Hard to Be A Saint in the City 10) Brilliant Disguise
  16. Sting is arrogant as hell... sometimes it takes an arrogant one to push a project over the finish line, and god knows he did it. Those Police records still hold up .
  17. The Royal Scam Can't Buy a Thrill Aja Pretzel Logic Countdown to Ecstasy Katy Lied Gaucho Not familiar with the reunion albums enough to judge, but I don't really dig what I've heard from them. Lorraine, you would probably really like Countdown to Ecstasy.
  18. Didn't get to see them until the 2008 reunion. Our seats were actually behind the stage at Staples Ctr LA. I was thrilled cause I got to watch Stewart all night, up close! It was wonderful.
  19. Love 'em. They may well have been overrated in the 80s, but underrated now! haha
