  1. I'm going to buy tickets for the Cincinnati show. That is so awesome!
  2. I've just started watching this show, and it's hillarious! I also just bought the first Season on DVD; it came today, and I'm going to start watching it either tonight or tomorrow. I have a lot of catching up to do!
  3. How original. How much have YOU contributed to the literary world? If you can sit down and write a book, much less direct and act in movies as good as the Harry Potter movies, then you can talk.
  4. Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince King Crimson "Eyes Wide Open"
  5. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Dec 22 2009, 11:23 AM) QUOTE (Spindrift82 @ Dec 22 2009, 11:10 AM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Dec 21 2009, 11:34 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Dec 21 2009, 10:46 AM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Dec 21 2009, 01:48 PM) I'm probably the only guy on this entire forum who loves the self-titled "Shapes" album. Home By The Sea & Mama are quite possibly two of my all-time favourite songs, period. Just wanted to mention that. Not on your own at all, I love it. Got it on cassette in 83. Bar Illegal Alien(which is pants), it's quite a lovely album. Funny, I like "Illegal Alien". I have memories attached to that song, so that's why I like it. You're not alone at all. I love the Shapes album. They went through a period from 1981-1987, where they were making excellent pop music and could do no wrong. That all ended with the lackluster We Can't Dance, and Calling All Stations (while better) was pretty bad, too. I would agree with you about "We Can't Dance" but the song "Hold On My Heart" is a beautiful piece. There are a few songs from that album that are some of my favorite Genesis songs of all time. No Son Of Mine, Jesus He Knows Me, Driving The Last Spike, Dreaming While You Sleep, Way Of The World, and Fading Lights. In fact, half of it is good, another fourth is decent, and the other fourth is pure crap. Before WCD, though, they were releasing album after album that was solid all the way through.
  6. QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Dec 21 2009, 05:15 PM) Picked up Trespass at Best Buy for only $7.99. Well, to be honest, they've had the same two copies for months, so I just went ahead and bought one of them. edited for grammar Was it the remaster? If not, you got cheated. The remaster is miles better than the original, it's amazing what Nick Davis did on that album.

  8. Yeah, and I'm not even a fan of her movies and I feel sad about it. She was way too young to have died.
  9. QUOTE (priest_of_syrinx @ Dec 20 2009, 01:07 PM) I'm suddenly becoming enamored with ...And Then There Were Three.... I used to always feel that Say It's Alright, Joe and Many Too Many were weak tracks, but now I'm really getting into them. And Then There Were Three used to be my favorite Genesis album. That was, until I discovered the rest of them.
  10. The Moody Blues are vastly underrated, IMO. Just listen to any of their albums, their songwriting was a craft, not to be reckoned with.
  11. Right now, I'm enjoying the "Grace Under Pressure Live Tour" cd a lot.
  12. QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Dec 19 2009, 05:42 PM) Hey, everyone! I'm starting to get into Genesis. I know some of their hits like "Misunderstanding" and "That's All", and have also been listening to their A Trick Of The Tail album, which I really enjoy. Any suggestions for next steps? Which albums would be best for me to explore next? Thanks! If you like the poppier stuff, go with Genesis, Abacab, Duke, or Invisible Touch next. If you like more progressive stuff, go with Wind and Wuthering (which is probably your best bet, since you like Trick and it's very similar to Trick), Selling England By The Pound, Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme, or Trespass. Why did I leave The Lamb off of there? Because it's their hardest album to get into. When you do, you'll love it, but make it the 5th or 6th Genesis album you listen to, at least. All of the Genesis albums are good, though. Get From Genesis To Revelation last; it's their debut, and probably their weakest. Their last album, Calling All Stations, is actually better than some people say it is. I love Ray Wilson's singing voice.
  13. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Dec 19 2009, 08:48 AM) A lot of band are performing entire albums in concert now. That would lead me to think that there is no way Rush would ever do it. They never have been about doing what everybody else is. I would LOVE it though, if they would indeed perform MP in completion. And in order too. Well, never say never. Rush might change around their ideals for a tour, and perform the whole album. You never know what the future might hold.
  14. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Dec 18 2009, 02:56 PM) QUOTE (Spindrift82 @ Dec 18 2009, 02:44 AM) I never really got into Alicia, but I agree she's talented. I like that song she did with Christina Aguilera (who I AM a fan of, gotta problem with that? ) Impossible. (name of the song). I am a huge Christina Aguilera fan, Stripped and beyond. The first album was a manufactured pop-ala-Britney album. Loved Back to Basics. Over a year ago, it was rumored she was recording again, looking into doing more electronica music with bands such as Ladytron (who I fancied a while ago). Haven't heard anything about that since, but what the hell -- she's a mom. Plus, Lady Gaga has taken over and it would be kinda hard to drop an album with Gaga taking over the world (I'm also a fan of hers, antics and all LOL) As for Miss Keyes, she's a fantastic talent. I had her first album and listened to it quit often before the burglary of my car and my CD collections were stolen. I hate to derail this thread (but hey, it's Christina...) Christina Aguilera's new album IS finished. It's been mixed, and it could potentially come out today. But Christina is filming a new movie that she's starring in (Burlesque), and until the filming wraps up, she doesn't want to release it because she wouldn't be able to promote it properly. The filming should wrap up in January or Feb, so expect the new album to come out in April or May, with the first single in Feb or March. She's also going to go on a world tour; the deal's been signed, so that's something else to look forward to next year. Being a mom has nothing to do with it (although I'm sure she's comfortable sitting back and relaxing now.) She's just got this filming to get done with (and the movie should also be good, too; she's recorded a few songs for the soundtrack.)
  15. That would be awesome. Would they do it? Probably not, but here's hoping!
  16. A Farewell To Kings is my favorite Rush album.
  17. I never really got into Alicia, but I agree she's talented. I like that song she did with Christina Aguilera (who I AM a fan of, gotta problem with that? )
  18. Sometimes, if I want a laugh, I'll turn on a Soap Opera. They're more comedy than Drama, anyways, because they're so embarassingly bad.
  19. I like Horror movies, but I hadn't heard of this one. I'll check it out.
  20. QUOTE (Fridge @ Dec 5 2009, 04:30 PM) QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Dec 4 2009, 04:23 PM) QUOTE (Fridge @ Dec 4 2009, 09:03 AM) Never heard of it That's because you don't have ovaries and aren't under the age of 20. Okay, I have now corrected this and watched an "acquired" copy of Twilight. I wish I hadn't. That is all....... I feel your pain. I have a friend who likes Twilight. I really hope she doesn't drag me to New Moon. If she does, I might have to shoot myself.
  21. It was created to be an 'equal' to Harry Potter, but instead has become a huge embarrassment. The writer can't write worth shit (trust me, I've looked at the books and they're awful), and the plot lines are just plain ridiculous. I actually feel stupider after looking at a clip from a Twilight movie. I agree with Stephen King on this one: "The difference between them is that J.K. Rowling is an incredibly adapt writer, and Stephanie Meyer can't write worth a darn." Or something like that. What's scary is that after Stephen King made that quote, some psycho teenage girl (who looked like she was bipolar or something) got on YouTube and posted a video of her screaming obscenities at SK and basically acting like Chris Crocker (Oh, it's so mean, why don't they leave my beautiful Twilight series alone! Sob!) *facepalm* I hate to think of what teenage girls are like now, if they're watching Twilight and listening to autotune music. All that marketed crap must be rotting their brains.
  22. GhostGirl, I just saw Coldplay live too in Riverbend on June 4th. They put on an amazing show, I'm still reeling from the concert. I had lawn seats, so I was overjoyed when they came out on the lawn and did an acoustic set. I'd say Coldplay are one of the few mainstream bands that I dig. All four of their albums are killer, and they're a fantastic live band.
  23. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 9 2009, 04:00 PM) Worst Genesis album ever. No, the worst Genesis album is either From Genesis To Revelation or And Then There Were Three. I've always had a soft spot for Calling All Stations. It's really underrated.
