  1. The last time I saw Alex annoyed was when I asked for an autograph after I following him in the venue parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. He had just got his r/c plane out of a tree and was walking back to the capital centre. He said something to the effect of "this isn't my work time", signed my album and left without ever looking at me or saying anything else. I felt embarrassed and sad that I pissed him off. He was my one and only idol then. This was in '81. I'm sure he won't be to happy to see that gif. It is a great one, nonetheless.
  2. I'm disappointed with Geddy. The Rick tone is synonymous with him and to substitute it with a jazz bass is sinful, imo. Really It all comes down to politics/cash....business as usual.
  3. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jul 29 2010, 10:25 AM) QUOTE After all my negative Rush posts..., I'm going! Well I would wish you a terrible time, but it's a Rush concert so that won't happen! I would wish you that the sound would be horrible but it's rush so that won't happen. I would wish you that the show would be an eye sore but then again it's Rush so that won't happen either. So I'll just wish you a great, awesome, and tremendous time! Hey it's so that will happen! Glad you had a change of mind on seeing the boys! Thanks for the kind words....I thought you were losingit at first!

  5. Its disappointing Rush won't produce a fan-tailored setlist. There are so many epic and brilliant songs they are missing on this tour. Its confusing and irritating as to why they omit them.. flame away!
  6. Hi everyone and thanks for your replies. Yes, I still feel strongly about Rush's current state, but after reviewing the setlist I was surprised not to see much in the way of ma-newer music. I found a dirt cheap pair of 20th row tickets- what can I say? What's even more interesting about this setlist, personally, is that my first Rush concert was Moving Pictures. It will be actually like stepping back in time...with a time machine! In terms of Rush's direction, I've never really hated any changes until they went with the Vapour Trails sound and feeling(which still persists today, imo). Lost in Xanadu- Yes, it used to be Nissan Pavilion now its the Jiffy Lube something (Sounds like a happy-ending herbal rub).
  7. Thanks everyone! Will do a review afterwards. Fanboy Daniel- I've been a Rush fan since '78--most of us original guys have been facepalming ourselves with this new direction that Rush has decided on. The fact is I will always love Rush...these guys are like family to me and so many others as well.
  8. I went on a tangent today looking for Rush tickets, out of curiosity to see what's available. I found a nice ticket, 3rd row, in front of Alex for $400. Thought of the setlist and had my doubts. 20 minutes later I stumbled upon a ticket in the first tier at cost, reviewed the setlist again and decided to take the plunge, since the 80's (and before) is my kind of Rush. I admit to feeling a little giddy since the last I saw them was in '94. Perhaps I will see Neil around when riding my copper Hayabusa.. Anyone going to the Bristow Va show?
  9. Water bottle and shirt..... what a pathetic load of sh!t. Some of you are satiated by the cheapest crap.
  10. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 2 2010, 03:56 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jul 2 2010, 03:33 PM) Isn't this Mike guy just a Peart emulator?? If I'm wrong, please correct me. No, not really, his drumming doesn't really sound much like Neil's, he just happens to be a a very visible Rush fan and comparisons are made as a result... Thanks Treeduck

  12. I'm completely disenchanted with the band, guys, I'm sorry. I'm not going to see Rush just because they're Rush and their days are numbered. Their new releases are completely unacceptable and are not worthy of release. Their new setlist is a ball of confusion. Then factor-in Neil Peart's social faux pas and the fact that he really doesn't want to be there in the first place. He snubbed his bandmates and fans recently at the Walk of Fame ceremony, which took place in his back yard of all places. What an absolute travesty- Show a little respect to the guys that hired you and your adoring fans. As far as I'm concerned, Rush is no longer Rush and this is why I think they should disband completely.
  13. I encourage the early retirement of Rush...I've seen enough mediocrity in their performance and recordings in recent years. Get out before they embarrass themselves any further. They are only tarnishing their past greatness by giving these half efforts.
  14. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Jul 1 2010, 02:21 PM) Great review Chris. Unfortunately the "die-hard" Rush fans are in the minority, so they have to appeal to what they think would be the major concert goers, the casual fan. Although I absolutely loved hearing Circumstances on S&A, I did notice a lot of folks at the venues I went to became quiet, not familiar with the song. At the end of this tour I will hit my 58th Rush show. Although I love the band I know I will hear songs that are predictable and in their comfort zone. In all honesty, I may yearn for the "oldies" but I am glad I still get to hear this band continue to make new music and watch them perform live. It won't last forever! Wow, 58 times. You should get some sort of recognition for that....like Rush playing more classic songs.
  15. Why can't they play two of the "most desired" from each album? This would be ideal imo.
  16. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jul 1 2010, 01:39 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jul 1 2010, 10:22 AM) I saw several videos of this show on YouTube. Their performance and musical quality here is akin to Rush "Lite". Too casual and unimpassioned. I won't be attending this one... I think I'm going to check those videos out as well before making my decision. Thanks. Yeah, its very anticlimactic imo. There doesn't seem to much in the way of passion or even chemistry. Its bizarre not seeing them play with gusto. I don't like it. Maybe they're bored and feel they have to do this although they really aren't pressed to. Of course music won't sound too great from a net phone, but I can tell it suffers here. Its like comparing molded plastic to real wood and craftsmanship. I'll get more satisfaction listening to my old CDs and boots in my own home!

  18. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jun 30 2010, 08:06 PM) Great pictures, I've been saving every last one of them! Alex, what's up with the hair dude??? http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4094/4749822405_f7504ffb0e_b.jpg Thanks for this one, great one of the Ged-Meister: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/4749822449_e8433e4c44_b.jpg I think someone misplaced the conditioner that day.
  19. I hope they change it to something more diverse...I will certainly attend should this happen.
  20. I'm not a terribly demanding fan, but this is an absolutely horrible setlist, if true. They have to bring more to the table than this if I'm going to attend. It is also a letdown knowing that Neil really doesn't want to do this anymore
  21. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 25 2010, 05:11 PM) and THIS is where I wet myself. I yelled out SMILE ALEX! http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr300/Fatorgan/Rush/alexsmile.jpg YES! MONEY SHOT! Who could not love this guy?
  22. Is the new setlist on rushisaband.com the real thing? If so, I'm terribly disappointed if this is true. Why not give us a melange of their entire musical history?
  23. Thanks for sharing these great archival photos with us sans obnoxious watermarks
  24. QUOTE (Merely Space @ Apr 14 2010, 10:45 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 14 2010, 10:25 PM) I was always concerned that my much-beloved Rush would be retiring soon. Now, it is I that will be retiring from Rush.. after seeing the obscene ticket-pricing fiasco, among other things, I no longer recognize this band as the one I used to hold to such high esteem. Good. Go away. Wish granted. Take care...
