  1. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Dec 3 2010, 07:18 PM)I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy Going for the One, its amazing. Yes. <3
  2. Just listened to Garbage's second album, Version 2.0, and while I don't think it's as great as the debut, it's still a damn good album, and "I Think I'm Paranoid" is still an awesome song. <3
  3. tl;dr awesome nine-day break So I had this last week off, because of Thanksgiving. Traditionally, my county has given us Wednesday through Friday off, but because of budget problems, Monday and Tuesday were furlough days. Anyways, I had an entire week to do nothing, and I actually did a lot. Breakdown: That weekend (the first weekend of the break), I had a "party". I had invited like ten people, and only two showed up, both of whom are two of my closest friends, but we all had fun. Watched them play Call of Duty and Halo, and generally hung out and whatnot. Worked out on Monday, and the new My Chemical Romance album came out. And even though they're a stereotypically dark band, their new album was great. (More on it later!) I worked out again Tuesday, then went and hung out with two other friends. One had to go home after a little while, so I hung out with the other friend for like two hours, which was pretty cool. On Wednesday, I worked out, because the gym was closed on Thanksgiving, and I also went to my first Augusta State game of the year. We won, 101-66, despite a few players on the other team who had serious anger issues. Thursday was Thanksgiving... so NOM NOM NOM. And on Friday, I worked out, but at the gym, not a store. (I don't do Black Friday shopping!) I also got to play bass along to Box Car Racer and +44, which I don't always get to do. I also listened to some 2010 albums, so I can more accurately rate them at the end of the year. On Saturday, I went to Statesboro, to watch the (my?) Georgia Southern Eagles play South Carolina State in a playoff game, where we won 41-16. The crowd was more energetic than I ever remember it being, and I've been going to GSU games since I was three. I completely blew my voice out, and pretty much jumped and yelled for the entire game. Had an absolute blast. Yesterday, I didn't do that much, asides from doing the sound system at church. I messed up twice and created some feedback, but asides from that I did pretty good. Next time, I'll know to pay more attention. I also went to the mall and picked up two blink-182 t-shirts and some cd's as a birthday present to myself. Yes, I'm aware that if you read this, you deserve a treat. I'm also aware that a lot of this seems boring and mundane, but this week was something I really needed. I posted this on Facebook on Thankgiving night, which basically sums it up: "This week has been awesome. Since my first listen to the new MyChem album, I've felt even more optimistic about the future, and Angels & Airwaves' new record is also helping that feeling. And there are still three more days left of this break, then three weeks until christmas break. The future is looking really good." I'm very glad that I got this week off, because I feel much better about stuff now.
  4. In no order. The Big Bang Theory Two and a Half Men A Different Spin with Mark Hoppus (music news show hosted by blink-182's bassist and vocalist) When tosh.0 starts season three it'll bump Two and a Half Men's spot, just because last season was that awesome.
  5. My ultimate wish is for them to play here in Augusta, but seeing as they haven't played here since the PoW tour where, according to my dad, the venue was maybe half-full, they won't. Columbia would be a very nice alternative (last played on the RTB tour), seeing as it's an hour away from here and you have an easy trip for people in Charlotte, Charleston, Augusta, and the other cities in and near South Carolina. I think they could sell out the Carolina Coliseum (12,401), or at least sell a lot of tickets.
  6. I got these four cd's, along with two blink-182 shirts, for $58.59. Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight Jawbreaker - Unfun Pennywise - Pennywise Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
  7. So, apparently there's a Radiohead "bootleg" out there, shot by fans, but with audio donated by the band for the project, and it's free. And I'm just now hearing of this? Will download sometime tomorrow. This looks awesome.
  8. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 27 2010, 03:08 PM)The Weezer album is great however. Its very power-popish, kind of like Cheap Trick, except the singer isn't as good. Its upbeat and powerfull, so I'd say buy it I gave it an 8/10. I'll be checking out their older albums. I can't really help you much there, but I will say to get their debut first. It's a really good album.
  9. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 26 2010, 08:47 PM)Arcade Fire - The Suburbs Hmm. I'm not sure if you'll like this record but it's worth a listen. I just can't really get into this one, asides from "Ready to Start" and "Month of May", which IMO are superb songs. The rest of it just got really repetitive, but that's just me. From what I've heard, their first two albums are much better. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 26 2010, 08:47 PM)Weezer - Hurley Let me know how you like that one. All I've heard of Weezer is their debut, which I really enjoyed. edited to add the second part
  10. QUOTE (fledgehog @ Nov 26 2010, 04:28 PM) is ke$ha really so out-of-tune that the spoken word sections of her vocals have to be auto-tuned?
  11. I think Jean Simmons is a pretty cool guy. Eh makes TRFers rage and doesn't afraid of anything.
  12. QUOTE (Mara @ Nov 25 2010, 10:32 PM) Aw, never mind. Not gonna ruin the fun. This.
  13. QUOTE (The Main Monkey Business @ Nov 25 2010, 05:25 PM)I am amazed Steve Howe is still alive, he looks like a living skeleton. We all are.
  14. I'll at least listen to it, just to see what it sounds like. I'm still waiting on Jon and Rick to call up Trevor to do some kind of project
  15. QUOTE (fledgehog @ Nov 24 2010, 10:54 PM) just finished up Duke. forgot how much i LOVE this album!!! Yes. <3
  16. I found out that a friend of mine slammed her head "against a brick wall and forgot some things and people". Kind of freaked me out, so I'm going with some friends to see her tomorrow. Otherwise, she's okay... I hope.
  17. So, um, tomorrow I turn seventeen so I realized that my two "lasts" as a sixteen year old were as follows. They're not what I listen to all the time, though I do listen to them every so often. Last artist, album, and song: Depeche Mode - Violator - "Clean" Excellent album, if I might say so. Goodbye, sixteen, and hello seventeen. Hope you're even more awesome than the previous year was.
  18. I got to listen to the new My Chemical Romance album six days early, and though it's not what I expected, it brought me so much joy to realize that this band has changed so much. It seems like a different band, and that's in a great way. Also, I realized that I'm four days away from my birthday party (misleading word though, imo, since I don't really party ), and I can't wait to hang out with my friends. Hopefully I'll get a "different" birthday present.
  19. MP for me. Seemed pretty accurate even though it's about five spots away from my favorite Rush album.
  20. QUOTE (vital signz @ Nov 15 2010, 01:52 PM) I have a funny story... I was in the Chicago Cheesecake Factory a number of years ago, and was sitting at the bar there with a friend. I was looking at the back of this blonde who was sitting next to another girl that couldn't have been more than 21 years old...I was admiring the girls as they were beautiful. The first girl had the most beautiful hair of any girl in the bar. She turned around to look in my direction and I was like WHOA!....You're not a girl! You are Robin Zander! Oh shi-
  21. TBH, I'm becoming less and less of a fan of their stuff pre-The Black Parade, and more and more a fan of that record and the material from the new record that I've heard. And don't worry, if you don't like the songs, I won't rage. The fact that you've already given them an open listen is cool, but it's just that I honestly think the material they're getting ready to put out is miles better than anything they've put out, and that's why I might seem a bit more fanatical this go-around than I was a year or so ago.
  22. Though Georgia lost, South Carolina beat Florida to win their first SEC East title and, as a result, their first trip to the SEC title game. Also, Georgia Southern won, which is always great. And finally (perhaps most importantly), I discovered why last.fm would not scrobble my iPod and iTunes library, and then found a way to let last.fm still scrobble my iPod until (hopefully) they get a plugin for iTunes and iPod.
  23. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 13 2010, 09:14 PM) Dio - Holy Diver Radiohead - The Bends I think I'm obsessed with buying music. I need a life. Young grasshoppper, music IS life! (at least, that's how it is for me... )
