  1. New. Radiohead. <3 I couldn't care less about going out, there's a new Radiohead album to listen to!
  2. On "Bloom" now and... holy f**k, this is good. <3 What is it with Radiohead and great album openers (i.e. Everything in its Right Place, 15 Step)?
  3. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Feb 16 2011, 11:05 PM) QUOTE (Kenneth @ Dec 17 2010, 06:20 PM) Trevor is garbage compared to Banks and Howe. He's a decent rock guitarist, nothing more, no Yes in his blood! I see Trevor's name in the credits on Big Generator, Shoot High Aim Low, Final Eyes, I'm Running, Hold On, Changes and Our Song, and every one of those songs is classic Yes and to relegate his input over the dozen years he was with Yes as 'decent rock guitarist' is profoundly uninformed Excellent post.
  4. QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Feb 14 2011, 05:46 PM)Not gonna lie, I'm a bit excited about the new Radiohead release! Go buy the Newspaper Album edition. Do it. DO IT NAO.
  5. Bought my Newspaper Album edition of the record. Can't wait to hear it for the first time, and then to get everything else in May.
  6. So glad that Muse have won Best Rock Album, even if it's taken the US this many years to "get" Muse.
  7. QUOTE (Mystic Slipperman @ Feb 11 2011, 05:22 PM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Feb 5 2011, 03:35 PM) Kid A is starting to become my second-favorite Radiohead album. I'm pretty sure that In Rainbows will stay at number one for a while, but Kid A, with some more experience, could very well pass it and become my favorite Radiohead album. The strings on "How To Disappear Completely" are incredible. Oh yeah. The acoustic guitar on that track reminds me of the beginning of a track from A Trick of the Tail.
  8. Actually, I love SSOTS. It was one of the first Yessongs I heard, along with its introduction piece, "We Have Heaven". Severely underrated track; there's an excellent performance of it on the Live at Montreux DVD.
  9. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Feb 11 2011, 10:34 PM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Feb 11 2011, 07:24 PM) QUOTE (Kenneth @ Feb 10 2011, 11:44 PM)Yes - The Ancient @ 17:42 - perfect ending to the song! It's a perfect ending because the rest of the song is shite No way jose! Only the first 3 minutes are. Otherwise the song is amazing and Yes's best Yes' best? I think you're leaving out a few songs... 11. It's official! After becoming a fan three years ago, I will be seeing My Chemical Romance for the first time in Atlanta on May 11 at The Tabernacle, along with opening acts Thursday and The Architects. Now, I have two shows to look forward to this summer, and that's not counting whenever blink-182 decide to tour.
  12. I was going to radio shows before you knew what TRF was
  13. Why not make a new thread? That way, you'd have votes that were "better", and not just votes from back when I thought S&A was one of their best albums.
  14. My dad and I officially bought Rush tickets last night for the show in Greenville on June 8. We're in section 9 (or something), back, yet still on the floor, so we should be fairly close. Hoping they allow cameras, and if not, the iPhone shall go once again. Would like to buy MyChem tickets tomorrow, if I do that'll make two shows in four weeks, which is pretty awesome
  15. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Feb 2 2011, 07:33 PM)Whereas I do love the setlist a lot, one or two little changes would have been nice. Just to spice it up a bit. Glad I'm only doing one show this leg. After this, just bring on the album. Did you just make a post about Rush that wasn't fanboyish? I'm shocked.
  16. Kid A is starting to become my second-favorite Radiohead album. I'm pretty sure that In Rainbows will stay at number one for a while, but Kid A, with some more experience, could very well pass it and become my favorite Radiohead album.
  17. Revised once again: Big & Rich - TBA (no date, but Big Kenny has mentioned it twice now, and their last record came out in 2007, so I'm sure it's sincere.) Black Cards - TBA (this is more guessing than anything, but I'm sure that since they have two finished songs out and have been doing shows that it'll come out this year) blink-182 - TBA (expected sometime around May.) Dr. Dre - Detox (no date, obviously, but two album singles have been officially released, so there is hope...) Lupe Fiasco - Lasers (March 8) Panic! At the Disco - Vices and Virtues (March 29) Patrick Stump - Soul Punk (sometime in February, according to his last update) Radiohead - TBA (sometime in 2011) Travis Barker - Give the Drummer Some (March 15) Added Travis Barker's new album and removed The Decemberists, since that album has been out for three weeks.
  18. 60 degrees, sunny and a bit windy, here in Augusta. Feel free to send some snow down here! I know some of you have had more than enough.
  19. > listening to 'Meat is Murder' by The Smiths > "Barbarism Begins at Home" comes on > mfw the bassline
  20. I've been in a depressed state for about a week and I really really hate it. Some days, it seems like the only two things that keep me going are music and my Augusta State Jaguars... not that I'm suicidal, just that these are the things that make me want to get out of bed and do something.
  21. In the past week, I've bought these, two one night and two today, at a Best Buy here in Augusta and at one south of Atlanta. Green Day - Kerplunk (got it at a Best Buy today for only $10; also, I now have all of their studio albums) The Psychedelic Furs - The Psychedelic Furs: Greatest Hits Thursday - Common Existence The White Stripes - Conquest (Best Buy exclusive; I assumed it was out of print so I bought it, plus it was only $5)
  22. Shirley Manson Bilinda Butcher Hayley Williams (haters gonna hate) edit: one of two to mention Shirley, and only to mention Bilinda... which isn't really surprising because there are like three My Bloody Valentine fans on TRF.
  23. QUOTE (CMWriter @ Jan 29 2011, 12:29 AM)And let's leave it at I go to a very diverse school. Half the school follows the rules to a "T" and takes it very seriously. They bust their butts in AP and Honors courses and we get a good number going to Ivy League and private universities every year. The other half could honestly care less about their education. Our graduation rate is only about 75% yearly. The administration blabs on and on about a "history" and "standard of excellence" but a quarter of the class doesn't graduate every year.. hm... So I guess you could say that usually makes me pretty upset when I think about it. As for freshmen, I'm pretty tolerant. The ones in my section (in band) aren't so bad, and they're really the only ones I know. All others, I pretty much ignore because I know I was in that place once, too. And I'll be a freshman next year anyways!... Just on a whole other scale. OH, and good luck with the GHP interview. I'll keep you in my thoughts! Here, it's more like... maybe a fifth or so of the class takes Honors/AP, the rest take regular classes. And I don't know the exact graduation rate, but I want to say it's somewhere around 65%. Consider, though, these factors: my school is considered the best non-magnet/non-private high school in the county, our school attendance is somewhere around 800 students, and that Georgia standards may not be as difficult as they are in Nebraska... which wouldn't surprise me Most of the smarter students (top 10 students) go to Georgia, the rest go to various colleges in the two-state (Georgia/South Carolina) area. If we have any students that have attended Ivy League schools, I haven't heard about them. Also, thanks! I feel pretty good about it, I'm just a bit nervous about it, because I've never done anything like this before.
