  1. Score Out seems pretty reliable, and he has inferred that they might be skipping Phoenix and a couple other usual stops in 2010, but will be hitting them in 2011. I think he's probably right, because the scheduling for both 2010 western legs looks pretty tight. I don't see any obvious window in either the CA/NV/CO leg or the TX leg where they could squeeze in a Phoenix show. There is a large gap before the UT show, so that might be a possibility. But I'm not taking any chances. I'm using this opportunity to get out of Phoenix in August and see Rush with my sister's family in WA. Should be pretty cool, as this will be my nephew's first big concert.
  2. Funny, I've never attended multiple shows on a tour, but probably will in both 2010 and 2011. Before, it seemed a given that Rush would always be around touring, except for the uncertain period after TFE. Now, I think they may tour for another 5-10 years, and that will be it.
  3. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 14 2010, 06:23 PM)The irony is that many of the people that are "sick and tired" of the negative threads still spend their time posting in them. I'm just sayin'.... Hey, we're just trying to keep up!
  4. QUOTE (duntov1966 @ Apr 14 2010, 05:21 PM)It is nice to see a positive thread.. Most of us are super pumped... Thanks, seems like it was needed. The negative voices often seem to drown out the positive voices around here, though I don't think they represent the average fan. But they seem to post about ten times as often.
  5. QUOTE (Angua @ Apr 14 2010, 04:44 PM)I am just so excited. I'd explained to my son that even though they were writing new material it would probably be another 2 years before we got the chance to see them in England. When they announced that the tour was going to be MP, but only in N.America I was gutted. My wonderful husband turned round yesterday and said book the tickets for you and Cam and go. You only live once and you'll regret if you don't and you could have. I'm still on a different planet at the moment and can't really believe it Congratulations, that's wonderful!
  6. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Apr 14 2010, 03:43 PM) Snakes and Arrows Tour(s) I was better off financially and saw RUSH 6 or 7 times including flying over to Europe to do so. I budgeted my ass off for this awesome lucky assed luxury I got to indulge in. This time I will likely "only" be able to afford to see them once, it will be the closest venue to me and I won't be forking out tickets for friends and family like I sometimes do. But you won't hear me moaning and whining like a little bitch blaming RUSH for the ticket prices. Get with the f**king program people. Two years ago I went to see an NHL regular season hockey game, and wanted good seats so we paid $175 EACH to be 8 rows away from the glass. This is the cost of entertainment which is a luxury. Concert prices are NOT out of line with similar events and we live in something called a "free market" society. You down on your luck like lots of people are? I feel terrible for you and hope things turn around fast. You want to afford front row and can only afford 400 level or lawns or not even go? As a fellow Rush cultist I feel TERRIBLE for you, truly. But for those of you who need to go on and on creating multiple threads blaming Rush for this shit and whining and whining. Shut your frigging pie-holes already. You are the ones who are being a "f**king disgrace" like the brainiac topic creator so succinctly put it. I can't afford the Ferrari I'd like to buy this summer but you don't hear me cry about it. A RUSH TOUR is a glorious and awesome and exuberant event for us all, and it should be celebrated here on this forum like no other! Cut the negative whiny bullshit and let's have some fun around this place. The time has never been better to be a RUSH FAN. Great 10,000th post! Seriously, I think there's some honest frustration out there, but some of the complaining is just completely out of control.
  7. I just wanted to send out some positive energy for those who are looking forward to the tour. Now that I have snagged some pretty good seats and am making travel plans, the excitement is starting to set in. Rush is not stopping in my state (AZ) so I'll be seeing them in WA with my nephew and his family. My sister and her husband are fans who haven't seen them in years, and this will be my nephew's first concert experience. It will be very cool seeing this with my nephew, as my first concert was Power Windows in 1985. I seems like a long two years since I last saw Rush in Phoenix. With all the pricing talk, I checked my e-mails and found that I paid $104 in 2008 for seats in AZ (row 16). I just paid $134 for very similar seats in WA (including one row 12!). That's about a 29% increase after two years, which seems reasonable to me. One factor that seems forgotten in the pricing talk is the fact that Rush will not be around forever. It may seem like Rush mania now, with two tours, new recording, documentary, etc. But I would be surprised if Rush is still touring five or ten years from now, as the guys will be reaching their mid-to-late 60s. So for me, it makes sense to see them now (and in 2011) as we can reasonably expect MAYBE one more large tour after 2011. Anyway, I am psyched and don't want to miss these opportunities to see Rush! Please share your positive thoughts on the tour and your circumstances for seeing them this time around.
  8. QUOTE (tick @ Apr 14 2010, 07:33 AM) Why, because you don't like it? Its quite simple, stop reading and posting in the thread if this post is the best you have to offer. Perhaps you could either bring valid points to your posts or have a big cup of shut the f**k up. Your just trolling and have nothing to offer. No, because I don't care for his language (which I was mocking) and especially the attack on Mara: f***ing Bullshit crap shitty You can shove it in that nice x-ray picture as far as Im concerned. But thanks for asking. Go ahead and bitch all you want, but let's at least remain respectful.
  9. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ Apr 13 2010, 05:38 PM)Dude, that's not nice. Some people are less fortunate and just can't afford to go. I know I'll be working hard and saving lots just so I can go. I'm glad you can afford to go with (seemingly) no problem or worries of costs, but for some people its just not as easy. Be considerate. Comment removed. No worries, Rush will be retired in a few years and then folks won't have to be victimized by their high ticket prices.
  10. QUOTE (exiled yorkie @ Apr 13 2010, 09:16 PM) Removed due to stupidity Thanks, can you remove the whole f###ing thread?
  11. EDIT Seriously, I can understand that prices will cause some to pass this time. It's all about supply and demand. However, Rush will probably be retired from touring five or ten years from now. I would feel pretty lame if I passed on their last couple of tours over a $160 versus $80 ticket price.
  12. For this entire thread... http://www.prepresspilgrim.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/picard-facepalm.jpg Hasn't anyone here bought concert tickets in the last decade?
  13. Looks like some people don't get out much. $100+ prices are pretty standard for the better seats these days. I just checked some other upcoming Live Nation ticket prices in my area. Eagles $55.00 - $180.00 Tom Petty $49.50 - $125.00 Carole King/James Taylor $39.75 - $119.75 Styx/Kansas/Foreigner $39.50 - $122.00 To the complainers, Rush isn't even coming to AZ so I'll be paying for a road trip to CA or NV. If they're coming to your city, you're already ahead of the game. And what about our friends outside the US and Canada? BTW, I paid $17.50 for my first Rush concert (Power Windows), but I don't expect to pay that 25 years later. Jeez, you now pay $15+ for a movie (IMAX 3D).
  14. I think it would be tough for Neil to pull off Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ with Drum Solo, and Limelight all back-to-back. And I do think they'll play all of MP together in the album order. So, I think the drum solo will probably not happen during YYZ. Also, they might start off set two with MP, so that Neil can play TS, RB, YYZ, and L fresh off of the break, with another mini-break during the CE intro.
  15. I'm hoping for more synth-era songs this time around. Analog Kid, The Weapon, Distant Early Warning, Big Money, Grand Designs, Middletown Dreams, Time Stand Still, and Second Nature would be my picks.
  16. QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 8 2010, 05:44 PM) There are a lot of large cities and usual stops that aren't being hit in 2010 (Phoenix, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Portland, Vancouver etc) so they'll draw in those places b/c it will be their first show. Argh, I've been hoping they might add a Phoenix date for 2010. I guess I'll be making the trip to CA or NV or maybe even NM.
  17. QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 6 2010, 09:35 AM)Ah I love bands that tour with no new music. Im passing on this one. Actually if I catch word they will be testing out new songs, then ill go, otherwise then no need. Thanks, Debbie Downer!
  18. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 1 2010, 02:22 PM)I am glad they are trying out some new songs on tour, beats hearing The Larger Bowl . Does it not ? Actually, I think Larger Bowl may still be in the set. Or if not Larger Bowl, probably 2-3 other S&A songs. Maybe Far Cry, TMMB, MalNar.
  19. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 1 2010, 11:42 AM)Its called the "marketing-for-all-its-worth" tour: 1) Induce excessive salivation in an already starving fanbase by announcing that -VIRGIN- Rush songs will be debuted (along with classic hits) in the new upcoming tour creating a Drool factor of 10 2) Post-tour, officially release these new songs to incite another revitalizing and manipulative hit into the fanbase (and fringe-interest audience), thus boosting post-tour interest in the band. Drool factor of ~9 (assuming good fan reception to new material) 3) Re-tour immediately after new material release to take advantage of high chatter/interest rate among fans from the new material. Drool factor here is strongly dependent on the quality of new material (Excellent material equates to a booming Drool factor. A poor quality release will create a slump in this 2nd phase of the tour w/ the economy being a contributing factor as well) Their plan will work fabulously for them if new material is excellent. Let's hope they worked hard, intelligently, and passionately. Or maybe they want to try out the new songs live before recording them, like they used to do back on PeW, MP, etc.? Regardless, can you blame them for trying a new approach in these days of decreasing album and concert ticket sales?
  20. but apart from a few good friends we don't take anything on faith until later It's just human nature to be skeptical.
  21. Man, I cannot wait for the official announcement. All this "insider" stuff is getting really annoying.
  22. I would throw in YYZ. A lot of players know the riffs, but it's challenging to play CLEANLY and up to speed. I hear YYZ butchered all the time at Guitar Center. Also, the bass/drum timing of the intro to TSOR still throws me off after all these years.
  23. QUOTE (PariahDog @ Jan 29 2010, 04:28 PM)For the record, I do believe it was just a bad choice of words. But surely you can see the problem here. Jack, did you not see this in my post???
  24. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jan 29 2010, 03:54 PM)QUOTE (Alex @ Jan 29 2010, 03:52 PM) Uh. Guys. This has absolutely nothing to do with race AT ALL. If a white guy looked like a primate too, we would definitley make some sort of comment. It has nothing to do with race at all. Finally, a sane comment. Thanks. I really hate to drag this out, but... We are ALL primates: lemurs, lorisids, galagos, tarsiers, monkeys, apes, great apes, and humans. (Thanks, Wikipedia.) So, which primate does Gary Coleman "look like?" Human? He "looks like a human?" You see where I'm going with this? For the record, I do believe it was just a bad choice of words. But surely you can see the problem here.
  25. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jan 29 2010, 03:17 PM)How anyone could not "get it" in the first place is beyond my comprehension. This thread should probably be locked. I don't think it's going to end well.
