  1. Wow! Yep, as a former Marvel comic book reader of old, this is exciting. (Damn I'm a geek.) Spidey was always my favorite, but Iron Man was a close second.
  2. This is the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lich59xsjik Cool Whip
  3. Hockey vs. House? Yes...playoff time makes this a difficult choice. I can rationalize by thinking there will be a rerun.

  5. This pounding headache from too many pints last night makes me feel like a million bucks.
  6. QUOTE (Pags @ Apr 25 2008, 11:22 PM) This picture is awesome! And your avatar is hysterical. Sorry...off topic... And yours is excellent. "....THE CRUSHER!!!" Bugs Bunny is some of the best stuff. Albeit, forgotten for the most part. http://www.alexross.com/81612-big.jpg

  8. Here a picture I just found of my middle son. He used to be a skateboarder. This was taken about 3 years ago. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/stylazyn/Alex_Indie_over_the_Flyboxlarge.jpg

  15. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 21 2008, 06:02 PM)QUOTE (Gompers @ Apr 21 2008, 06:15 AM) In watching the other song by song poll of these two albums, I needed to revisit this thread. On the song by song polls, every time a VT song comes close to an S&A song, I throw up in my mouth a little, and each time a VT song beats an S&A song I full on Only two songs for me won on the VT side. One Little Victory, because of it's meaning to my kids hockey season (One little victory at a time, I'd tell them), and How It Is, simply because I really like it musically. All the others off VT....
  16. In watching the other song by song poll of these two albums, I needed to revisit this thread. Personally, S&A is probably one of Rush's most versatile, well-rounded, and mixed albums. Their ability as song writers comes through better than most of their releases. I think they paid more attention to the texture of each song than with the previous release. I find VT to be difficult to listen to in one sitting. I have listened to what the boys do and they certainly do it well, but VT leaves me feeling empty. Many songs sound similar to the previous one sonicly. That being said, VT has individually strong songs but collectively the album is far from one of Rush's best while I find S&A to be one of their best.

  18. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Apr 16 2008, 06:25 PM) Well, some of his songs incorporate prog elements, but they're in the minority. The Sky Moves Sideways, Arriving Somewhere(But Not Here), Anesthetize and Even Less do, but apart from that, PT don't resemble prog in the slightest. Well I hear quite a bit, especially the odd-meter and syncopated things and songs >4 minutes. But I won't Labeling them is not something SW cares for. He likes his music with PT being somewhat ambiguous.
  19. Oh no!! Rangers vs. Devils tonight and I don't have a TV near my pc!!!!!
  20. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Apr 16 2008, 08:28 AM) Well, just because a band has had an influence on Prog, doesn't mean you can categorise it as that. Especially some of the music that influenced prog artists in the 70's. I can see why he wouldn't want to be classified as prog then but does now. 'Prog' bands nowadays are actually moving the genre forward. Bands like Muse, The Mars Volta etc are actually doing new things, and breaking new ground whereas in the 90's it was more a 70's throwback movement about all the things that allowed prog to die back in the day. Plus, even now, SW hasn't come out and said PT are prog, far from it. He just doesn't mind being labelled as it now, even though I'm sure he'll insist, as would I that PT are progressive, and not prog. I hope that kind of answers the question because I really didn't know what you were trying to ask I'm sure Mr. Wilson would acknowledge that many of his songs incorporate the traditional Prog Rock sound, style, or elements. Some even call some of the material Prog Metal, but I think it falls short of that.
  21. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 15 2008, 03:43 PM) QUOTE (Gompers @ Apr 15 2008, 10:46 AM) Then you don't have any Ozric Tentacles either? I have their first 12 albums or so, including the box set, through Jurassic Shift and Arborescence... Fetch Me the Pong Master
  22. Then you don't have any Ozric Tentacles either?
  23. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 15 2008, 09:48 AM) Also, GOMPERS - sorry man, no Dave Brubeck. I'm not sure what you mean by "roots prog" - I only caught bits and pieces of that conversation while it was happening. Peace, Gary I call it roots Prog due to elements in certain jazz I believe where adopted into Prog Rock. It's debatable. But definitely check out Blue Rondo a la Turk if you can. The first time I heard it, I was hit by how it reminded me of Hyperspace in NatSci. Have any Porcupine Tree? I think Radioactive Toy or Dislocated Day would fit well into your show.
  24. QUOTE (Choose/the/light @ Apr 14 2008, 10:41 PM) So whats the deal with the association of PT and pills? just wondering... ??????
