  1. QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Aug 5 2008, 10:56 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Aug 5 2008, 10:24 PM) QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Aug 5 2008, 10:20 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Aug 5 2008, 10:17 PM) Your opinions are all fine. Heres a fact. If these two bands perform together, Dream Theater is the headliner, Porcupine Tree is the opening act. Fact ! Ahhh buuut but but, zip it ! Fact ! Fact: Who opens and who headlines has no bearing on who is better. Says who ? You ? It does say who has the larger fan base. I hate having to take sides on this one, but Dream Theater deserves way more respect then most on this forum give them. So defend the great artists I will !!! Larger fan base doesn't mean better, either, does it? Well Madonna is such a great artist and blows away DT.

  3. QUOTE (metaldad @ Aug 5 2008, 04:07 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Aug 5 2008, 03:03 PM) A hard one, but I went with PT as well. They hold together more cohesively as a band. I love DT but PT is still better. for the record Gavin Harrison once again beat out Portnoy for best Prog Drummer of the Year. portnoy won it the last 12 year's [ or around that]. g.h can have his 2 in a row . I want GH to have the opportunity to do so. He seems so diverse in his style. Definitely not a unidirectional drummer.
  4. This is not a poll about musician talent. It is about who you prefer to listen to. I am a former DT fan, but over the years Steven Wilson and crew have risen to be my second favorite band. They show in the world of Prog, less is more. And more memorable!

I was having hardwood flooring being installed and I had to disconnect my comput for a whole day and a half. I know!!! It was torture for me too! I will be listening next week hopefully. You said hard and wood. Jeeze after that story I told last night I think everything I say from now on you are gonna turn into sexual innuendo. First, it was a great story. Second, you said innu END o. Giggles. "In your end-o" - The Todd, Scrubs You perv.

  8. A big hockey weekend for my youngest son, Sam. The first ever Big Dream 3 on 3 Erik Cole Tournament at the local college campus. My son played 6 games. Here is a shot between the games. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/stylazyn/DSC00944.jpg He and another young player also got to play goalie on the Oswego Great Laker All-Star team. Here is a shot with him and two of the NCAA Champion platers waiting to be subbed in. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/stylazyn/DSC00980-1.jpg And when Erik Cole arrived, Sam was in the thick of things to get an autograph. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/stylazyn/DSC00973-1.jpg

  13. QUOTE (raygun47 @ Jul 30 2008, 02:15 PM) QUOTE (Grapes_under_pressure @ Jul 30 2008, 09:55 AM) there's no doubt that rudess is some kind of keyboard god, and i bet he is good at video games too... but, i preffer every piece of keboard work on awak to anything rudess has done. i like what rudess does but im not a fan of blazing guitar solos at the best of times, so all the DT songs with like 5 guitar solos and keyboard solos just make me go..uh-huh. i appreciate the talent. but the keys bit in caught in a web is so cool. and space dye vest! has anyone heard Eve? it's on the awake bonus disc and it is AMAZING, and i think.. wow has kevin moore done anything in another band? i would listen. He has OSI with Portnoy and a band called Chroma Key if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure. Those are must haves. Chromakey tends to be a bit more ambient though. OSI can rock hard.
  14. QUOTE (The Owl @ Jul 29 2008, 12:24 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 28 2008, 09:24 AM) LTE kick's ass Yes they Do. I only have the first album however, I need to get the others as well. LTE is in a big part what brought Rudess over to DT His arrival seems to coincide with my departure from liking this band. I don't care for BaldyRud at all. Well at least what he's done to DT. I'll take Kevin or Derek any day over Rudess. Moore was the best though.
  15. QUOTE (The Owl @ Jul 28 2008, 01:52 AM) I still need this as well. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5f/Porcupine_tree_recordings.jpg I can't spring for the $125-$600 it is ranging on at Amazon. There is supposed to be a re-release later this year but no word from PT.com as of a date. But PT.com has confirmed that it WILL be re-released. I heard this release. I would have to say that you need to be hard core to pay big bucks for it. I didn't care for it.
  16. Hi girls! I want to add some more insight into a man's thought processes. This might help. We actually are a fragile breed. Why Men Don't Write Advice Columns Dear Walter: I hope you can help me here. The other day, I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't gone more than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor lady. I am 32, my husband is 34, and we have been married for twelve years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they had been having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore. Can you please help? Sincerely, Sheila --------------------------------------------------- Dear Sheila: A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber. I hope this helps. -Walter

  20. Ack! I can't stand Will Ferrell. Mike Myers is alright, so that leaves Adam Sandler. I liked him in Mr. Deeds best.
  21. QUOTE (reani14 @ Jul 6 2008, 08:56 AM) 1. main monkey.. good song, but seems to drag a little.. 2. secret touch, drags out too long... 3. the way wind blows, could really drop that last verse... anyone agree.. The only thing that is too long, not songs, but the breaks between new Rush releases. I need new Rush!
