  1. The Christmas Story (Fra-geel-la...it's Italian -- kills me every time) Monty Python and the Holy Grail (of course) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Mumbler!! Depp rocks) The Tape (awesome Ethan Hawke sleeper) Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (okay...I love Ethan Hawke) Love Actually All I can think of right now....
  2. Totally agree. This is the hardest I've laughed at a movie in a long time. The Pigface Song was classic. And it's somewhat chickflickish, but the guy I was with laughed just as hard as I did. I even heard a teenage boy tell his companion after it was over: That was WAY better than I thought it was going to be. It was one of those movies you are sorry to see end, because it was just so darn much fun. Five out of five stars on my ratings chart. Enjoy!! Cel
  3. I haven't seen them on HBO, but I did look them up on youtube, and I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. There's one skit about the issues, song is called "Think about It, Think Think About It" that is unreal. Also the song called "Jenny" and "Beautiful Girl" cracked me up. I like them!! I love them!! If they came to my town, I would buy them dinner!! If you want to laugh, look these guys up on Youtube. I'll enclose the links to my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5tmnBeNv18 Enjoy!! Celine
  4. I've seen it. It was enjoyable...in a very disturbing kind of way. Not one of those I can say: Man, I can't wait to see that one again. But....Christian Bale. What else is there to say? Even as a psychopath, he is HOT HOT HOT. Cel
  5. haha....you are right. Most guys wouldn't want three wives...they'd want 1 wife and 2 girlfriends....lol....or, better yet, 3 girlfriends!! You know, this is not a concept I can't relate a bit to. Being in the dating scene is tough. You might find a guy who is really nice and treats you like a queen, but doesn't share any common interests with you. (Okay, yes, I'm speaking for myself here...lol). Like, say, you have a passion for music and movies as just a for instance. But he has introduced you to other really cool things, like camping and canoeing. Camping and canoeing are fun, but when you find out that the local symphony is putting on a night of strictly Led Zeppelin music with an incredible vocalist and get all excited about going to this concert, you don't want to hear: Led Zeppelin? Who's he? And does he sing country music? (sigh) This would be the perfect opportunity to bring in boyfriend number two...lol. I think I might be on to something here. But I'm rambling....sorry. Cel
  6. Thanks for your response, Test. It's just a concept that's so difficult to wrap one's mind around. Like I said, I am only two episodes into the first season and will have to wait for the rest of the disks to come in to see more. It just seems like the religion he is trying to follow (poor fellow) is the same religion that caused his dad to dump him on the streets at the age of 14, kick him out of the commune to save the young women for the old men. He certainly doesn't condone his father's behavior (hates him, in fact), but yet chooses to follow this religion. And here I left the Catholic Church because it doesn't believe in birth control? It is crazy stuff, in this day and age of independent women, thank God. But you have to admit most guys wouldn't mind having an extra wife or two now and then. Let's just hope they all are on the same cycle and he gets reamed out in triplicate one week out of the month...lol. Ahhh, now I'm starting to feel better about the whole thing. Cel
  7. Okay, I have finally started watching this series. Two episodes into it, and I'm not so sure I like it either. Well, actually, I've enjoyed it so far. It's just that it's left me feeling a little bit nauseous. As a woman, it hits a lot of nerves. Watching these three women in this relationship suppress their feelings in the name of the family bothers me. Try as he might to please them all (physically and emotionally), the women are left wanting and he's left exhausted. (He gets absolutely NO sympathy from me here, mind you). I do appreciate the relationship the three women offer each other and their very distinctive personalities. I guess I just don't understand why he felt the need to add additional wives to his family just because his first wife was no longer able to bear children, since they apparantly had several children at that time. And the first wife "Boss Lady" is definitely the one whom he is most compatible with. The other two are more like additional children he has to deal with. Okay. This is the part that bothers me. The one intelligent, beautiful, strong, independent, loving wife was not enough for him why? Maybe this is explained more farther into the series, but I have to say it's got me a little bit riled up....and in just a bit of a man-hating mood....lol. You men are dogs!! Well, I suppose getting a strong reaction, positive or negative, is what they were aiming for. It is good entertainment, so I would recommend it. I just don't recommend to any of you guys out there that you say: Honey, do you think maybe we might consider.....(you won't get much farther than that, trust me). At least I have something to watch until the next season of Lost comes out. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Celine
  8. I love this show. I love this show. I love this show. Ummm, I love this show!!! OMG!! What am I going to do until next season? I know!! Didn't I hear somewhere that Rush had a new CD out? Maybe I'll check that out. Celine
  9. The recap version was basically a "the last 3 seasons in fast forward" version. I enjoyed it, but it's not essential to your viewing pleasure...unless of course you've missed chunks of the show and are, pardon the pun, lost. Watch it when you get a chance...it'll give you some "oh, yeah, I forgot about that"s....but no need to catch it before tonight's two hour season finale, which unfortunately (unfortunate for American Idol) is going to intersect with American Idol's season finale. But since I know that Idol is going to be 2.5 hours of I wonder who won...the girl who can sing or the guy w/ no lips...and who the heck cares now that the most talented singer got voted out....but I digress.....sorry.... Let me start over. I'll be sure to watch Lost tonight, Jack. Thanks for the reminder. Celine
  10. You are right, Owl. It was a very nice thing for Charlie to do. And, in typical Lost fashion, when you think you are sure that he's going to give the ring to Claire to give to Turnip Head at some later date, he doesn't. Just leaves you guessing. Just that momma gene of mine kicked in when I saw he left it in the baby's crib. But leave it to me...I can walk into any room and quickly point out 50 ways one can accidentally injure, maim, or kill one's self. And how about when he put "meeting you" as number one of the five best things that ever happened to him? Still gives me goosebumps. LET CHARLIE LIVE!! Celine
  11. Reading Jack's last post has left me almost as confused as watching any episode of Lost. Always leaves me scratching my head and huh'ing...but dying to figure it out. Is it tonight there is supposed to be a director's special about the season finale? I won't be missing that. And what a knucklehead Charlie was leaving that ring in little Turnip-Head's crib. Does he not know that is a choking hazard?? Regardless, I hope he makes it through. Is so nice to see him finally growing up and being responsible. As for Lock, I'm taking bets on how long it will take him to reappear. Here's hoping it's next week so we don't have to go all summer to find out if he *really* kicked the bucket. As always, it just continues to get curiouser and curiouser, and I LOVE it. Celine
  12. I saw it. I loved it. Not your everyday, run-of-the mill movie, but that's what I liked best about it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to do subtitles. Honestly, they're not that bad. It forces you to pay attention to the movie...and there are oh so many really good foreign films out there. Let me know what you think. Celine

    ENTOURAGE

Okay, it's settled...I will rent all three seasons and laugh myself into a coma. Something tells me Pags really likes this series. If nothing else, it'll give me something to watch while I wait a week for the next Lost episode. Pags, if this show is half as funny as this string of posts, I can't wait to see it. Thanks for your enthusiasm. I'll give you my review after I watch the first season. cheers....
  14. Great show again tonight!! I swear if this turns out to be somebody's dream, I'm going to be ticked!! Just gets curiouser and curiouser though, doesn't it? The episodes after the break in the third season have officially sucked me back into this show. Seven more days....and then I'll be even more confused than I am now....but I CAN'T WAIT!!
  15. Celine

Yup, this was my first venture into foreign film...but certainly not my last. Anyone totally turned off by the idea of having to read subtitles should give this one a shot anyway. Is amazing how quickly you don't even notice you're reading subtitles at all. And this movie is definitely worth the effort. Thanks for bringing it up. Think I will have to bump it up on my Netflix queue and watch it again. It is an incredible movie. Cel p.s. another good foreign film I've recently watched is Tsotsi. This is another very moving movie, although without the light-heartedness of Life is Beautiful. Anyone else out there have an opinion on this one?
  16. I have found it less interesting this season too. Was thinking it was because this is the first time I've actually watched it in real time, as opposed to on DVD. I don't like the new locations. They are boring. Jack's blonde chick and the guy with the spinal tumor are totally unappealling. I don't care what happens to them. Jack's being kind of sniveling and boring too. Still love Kate and Sawyer. But am tired of them being stuck in monkey cages. The story line where they "maybe" implanted the device in Sawyer's heart was interesting. Sawyer (and the guy who plays him) keep me coming back. I like the beach and the jungle locale. I miss Saeed. What have they done with him for the last month? Please(!!) let Hurley be Hurley again. Give Charlie some heroine. JUST DO SOMETHING!! Okay...rant over. But just know that you are not alone. Cel
  17. That makes you a Scottish, washed-up rock star, with a heroine addiction....but a good heart....and oftentimes funny.
  18. Michael? Treeduck gets to be all the good-looking women, and I get to be Michael? I demand a recount!! Cel
  19. My two all-time favorite movies. Heavier on the romance than comedy, but just all around smart movies. Before Sunrise Before Sunset Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are incredible in these movies, and I understand there will be a third movie in the series. Incredible to me that they are filmed nearly 10 years apart and the characters *gasp* are ten years older in the storyline. If you haven't seen these two movies, grab 'em from Blockbuster, pop some pop-corn, pop 'em in, turn up the volume (very dialogue intensive), prop up your feet, and enjoy. Cel
  20. not reading, not reading, not reading....better log off quick
  21. Oh very cool....definitely a "must see" when I'm in Vegas. One of my favorite movies ever. Have seen it ummm a million times, and it still cracks me up. The Black Knight has got to be the funniest scene ever. Thanks for sharing this info. Let me know how you enjoy the show if you see it. Cel
  22. Thanks, Madra....makes more sense now. Think I will rewatch this whole series when they go on break. So many subtle nuances to pick up on. Sigh....I need a Boone in my life to rescue me from toxic relationships. Love, love, love this show. laters, Cel
  23. lol....you went from Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Little Miss Sunshine (what? no sun icon??) nice variety. Am with you on Little Miss Sunshine. Can't wait to see that one myself. Have heard nothing but good things about it. Just the commercial for the chainsaw one will give me nightmares. Don't think it will EVER make my Netflix list. Let us know how it goes. Cel
  24. Awww....why did this thread die? Seems like a great idea. Would love to hear more of your reviews...and I'll share mine if you'd like. Am an avid Netflix user, which means I sometimes watch obscure things no one's ever heard of...sometimes for good reason, but a lot of them surprisingly entertaining. I watched two "would not recommends" this weekend. One called Junebug, which got great reviews and had some mildly entertaining moments, but nothing to rave about. Another one called The Matchmaker, from 1997. Slept through a lot of it. But, judging from the parts of it that I did see, don't think I'll try it again. On tap for this weekend, A Cinderella Story and Benchwarmers, which I saw reviewed earlier. Not what I would normally choose to watch, but these both seemed safe to watch with the kids this weekend. Is there a simliar thread somewhere else that I haven't found yet? Jack? You always seem to have the answers...lol. Cel
