  1. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Jun 15 2011, 03:01 PM) QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Jun 15 2011, 07:46 AM) Yeah, the footage is crystal clear.. Ahhh yes, life before digital video. I actually kind of dig how the laser is coming right at the camera. The point of this posting was to show Neil in a different light. All the negativity was getting me down. I feel like this message board needs a serious dose of Effexor. (That's an anti-depressant) This board is mild compared to some. You should see the ripping Queensryche gets on a certain board. You would think Geoff Tate(singer) insulted all the posters mothers or something. I had to leave it was so depressing to read.
  2. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jun 14 2011, 02:38 PM) Kid Gloves is easily my favorite on the album. Red Lenses is one of my most skipped Rush songs. I'll listen to it once in a while to see if I really still don't like it and the answer is always the same... SKIP! I was at that show in your signature. Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2010. What a venue or maybe you are just used to it but that was one of the most scenic places I have ever seen a concert at. Beautiful backdrop behind with the highway running right over top of the stage. Went to see the show in Chicago two days later and that is the one that was rained out and postponed. Drove all the way from Indy only to turn around and drive back home. Ended up selling my ticket and didn't see the rescheduled show.
  3. Red Lenses. Nice. Not everybody likes that one but I do. My fav is still Between The Wheels though. One of the best guitar solos I've ever heard. Instant goosebumps!!
  4. I agree but was this really worthy of a thread? I've seen tons of Grace Under Pressure appreciation threads on here. That being said my first show was this tour and it still remains one of my favs to this day. One of the most unique sounding records I've ever heard and such a dark feel. Amazing.
  5. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 12 2011, 02:49 AM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Jun 12 2011, 02:48 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jun 12 2011, 08:26 AM) QUOTE (Rendclaw @ Jun 12 2011, 03:57 PM) Unbelievable. How in the hell can you bitch over a stripped-down version of a solo that he has been doing for at least four years, that he gets a standing ovation for in every arena he plays in? Just when I start to think I am getting old and curmudgeony, I come on here and I realize I have a long, long way to go before I even approach the levels of some of you. You do have a long way to go. Some folks will bitch about anything. Yeah, some people are even bitching about other folk's bitching whilst others are just itching for a bitching about bitches' bitching. You little biatch! Holy cow that is a lot of posts. Congrats. Who is the chic in your signature. Wow.
  6. Neil is my biggest inspiration as a drummer and the reason I started playing but Neil get in touch. Your old solos were way better. I love Neil's creativity as that is his greatest strength but you have to ditch parts of this solo. Especially the Roland sample part in the middle. It has run its coarse and it just KILLS the momentum of the solo. I think it is also time to retire the jazz play along at the end. That has also run its coarse and is getting old at this point. As someone said before you are Neil freakin Peart. No holds barred on the solo That is the time to break it out. I never thought I would criticize a Peart solo but the time has come. He's still got it he just needs to USE it more.
  7. Might as well. Neil has broken through his fear of national TV now. Lets do it:)
  8. I would have no problem with them retouching all the vocals now. That's the only weakness to the SnA blu ray.
  9. Miss that monstrous bass drum sound you get at live shows but I was thrilled for Neil getting that much air time with the solo AND the shampoo. I used to make that shampoo joke in the 80's or whatever. I used to sing" watch him go"....Neil Pert instead of wash and go with Pert. OK... you get the idea. We have all probably made that connection before:)
  10. This is still more shocking to me than if Rush did SNL.
  11. Surprised he is using the big kit actually. I thought in that situation he would just use a 4 piece and tear it up like that solo he did for the Buddy Rich thing. I guess we will be getting some of that 3/4 Drum Waltz tonight:) What time did the other solo artists go on? How far into the show? Towards the end?
  12. Counterparts is great and VT is great. It was T4E that I didn't like when I first got it. But it did eventually grow on me. If VT had Counterparts production it would be one of Rush's best.
  13. That was just a bad idea. Plus I think it lead to folk sounding guitar on SnA and I definitely don't like that.
  14. Holy crap. I didn't even know about that collection. Just a couple of the snares. Are you rich? LOL That must have cost at least 4-5 grand? Very nice indeed. I don't have any snares quite that nice but I do own 7 huge kits. About 70 drums total. Including a Super Classic kit like Neil used to play. <<<<<<<<in my avatar:)
  15. Welcome. Don't let the trolls scare you off. LOL There are a lot of cool members here.
  16. QUOTE (Tony R @ Jun 5 2011, 02:45 PM) That said he would last 5 minutes at Progarchives. We don't "do" humour there... I don't think we do humor here either. I haven't seen any.
  17. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 4 2011, 01:26 PM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 2 2011, 05:13 PM) There is a new Queensryche song on there and it has 4 likes and 43 dislikes Queensryche got 4 Likes ? I guess Tate, his wife and 2 kids voted . 43 and counting I have heard the whole record. It's not all pop. There is a rock side to it as well. A wide variety and some pretty decent tracks as well. It has two songs that I like better than anything they have done in quite a while. At The Edge is already one of my fav QR songs of all time. Stellar track.
  18. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jun 5 2011, 12:00 AM) QUOTE (GUP1771 @ Jun 2 2011, 08:41 PM) If Caravan is any indication of what is to come, Clockwork Angels surely will be the best album Rush has put out since Counterparts. Caravan showcases a heavier side of Rush, plus proggish elements thrown in. Plus, it has an awesome instrumental break in the middle. For these guys to put out music like this at their age is truly amazing. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but anyone who says the song is utter crap obviously aren't an open minded individual, and also ignorant of the music world, especially in its current state today. I can understand if someone says, "Nah, it's not for me," that's fine. Caravan definitely showcases quality in what Rush is best known for: their instrumental virtuosity. I wouldn't call either song "utter crap".....and I think it'd be tough for any fan to do that. I think both songs are just mediocre and don't have a high listening value for me. Geddy's vocal melodies are lacking (as they did big time on S&A), and the songs just don't flow like a well written song should.... Who knows what the new album will bring, but I'm very skeptical, as I thought S&A was one of their worst of their career.... Sucks to be in that .01 percent minority doesn't it?

I can understand if someone says, "Nah, it's not for me," that's fine. Caravan definitely showcases quality in what Rush is best known for: their instrumental virtuosity. It's almost as if Rush intentionally put out a tune to resemble old proggy style Rush to appeal to the fans that long for those days....yet people continue to totally shit on it. I don't get it. The song is absolutely phenomenal and classic Rush Like the old saying goes, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." Look at the youtube numbers. There aren't too many people shitting on it. Just the few trolls on here
  20. Cosy gets way too much attention. Would you guys just ignore please. Can't even start a thread without it getting hi-jacked by junior high banter.
  21. Was just listening to Caravan for the first time in a while on Youtube and the song has like 2128 likes and 23 dislikes. That is an amazing ratio. If that is any indication this record will be epic in Rush fans eyes. There is a new Queensryche song on there and it has 4 likes and 43 dislikes which makes that Rush ratio even more amazing. I guess the people on here that don't like those two new songs are in a smaller minority than we thought
  22. Young And The Restless. Found it.Y&R
  23. Cool find. I love that song Winning by Santana. Did you know that the opening synth to Between The Wheels is almost exactly like a soap opera theme? The theme is played on piano. I think it's either Days Of Our Lives or Young And The Restless. Somebody help me out here.
  24. Please not too diverse. Those first two are just fine. Please no folk guitar on this record.
