every air-instrument known to man... and THEN SOME!
  1. I totally blame/thank my mother for my love of music in general because she introduced me to such a variety. I grew up in the 70's listening to all the greats from the 60's. Singing along with Grand Funk Railroad, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Joan Collins & Bob Dylan when I was a toddler. She took me to a Black Oak Arkansas concert when I was 8. Getting exposed to Zeppelin, Meatloaf, KISS, AC/DC, Seals & Crofts, Simon & Garfunkel, America, CCR & more as a pre-teen all helped to coalesce my love of music in general with an emphasis on rock. She also dismissively laughed when I said I'd never listen to classical music and sure enough, after seeing Star Wars/Empire, I had to have the double album and now rock & classical are my 2 fave genres... I did not enjoy her disco phase (Donna Summer, however, rocked; that live double album she did was incredible) and infatuation with the Bee Gees & Alicia Bridges; god how I hated that one song she'd repeat and dance around to... But yea, totally thank mom for my love of music; I returned favor and got her into such bands as U2, Rush, Acoustic Alchemy & Genesis later... She didn't like my hardcore selections much with bands like Metallica, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc... Too harsh.
  2. Star Wars - The OT Star Trek - II, IV (& VI to a degree) Godfathers 1 & 2 Scarface Goodfellas Tron: Legacy Dogma Holy Grail Mallrats Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back Die Hards 1 & 3 Breakfast Club Clint Eastwood westerns & Dirty Harry movies w/o Sondra Locke QT movies (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, True Romance) The Player Escape from New York The Warriors Animal House Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2 48 Hours Smokey & The Bandit Any Given Sunday Glory Natural Born Killers Amadeus Stripes Groundhog Day Identity Thief You Don't Mess with the Zohan The Princess Bride Blazing Saddles Willy Wonka (OGW) History of the World Part I ... These are all infinitely watchable to me for various reasons from LMAO quotefests to great soundtracks to just enjoying good characters/stories... Some good stuff out there, but I don't get the love for Wizard of Oz; can't stand little yapper dogs... :D
  3. 2112, Hemispheres, AFTK, CoS, Vapor Trails, Power Windows; they all blew me away on first listen. I grew up as a toddler+ in the 70's listening & singing along to mom's fantastic record collection; everything from Baez, Beatles, Dylan, Collins, Alice Cooper, KISS, AC/DC, Beach Boys, Seals & Kroft, America, Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Bowie... First song I sang along to that I remember was Closer to Home/I'm Your Captain on the radio in the extremely early 70's in So.Cal. Still a fave. By the end of the 70's she had built up a decent collection of a few hundred albums. I thank her often for my diverse love of music and was able to fully surprise her with Joan Baez & Acoustic Alchemy shows... 2nd or 3rd row for Baez on the Danger tour; seeing mom's face light up when she finally figured out that it was Baez on stage (don't ask how I got her past all the marquees) was very fulfilling.
  4. I can always listen to the Beatles and find myself singing along happily; just not quite so much with Rush. A few too many clunkers (Rush) vs. almost everything being great (Beatles). The Beatles helped change the world of music. Rush definitely has far reaching influence, but without the Beatles influence in music, I don't think there are a lot of bands that influenced Rush. so in the end.... Beatles > Rush (to me). Music is subjective (it's creative art), so there are no wrong answers here. If I had to list my fave bands in order, it would start off with Beatles and Rush in the #1 & 2 positions... closely followed by Pink Floyd, Metallica, U2, Jimi Hendrix, Ministry, Acoustic Alchemy... Fave of the day always depends on my mood... :)

Any message board is what you make of it. Some are heavily moderated and filled with whiney douches while others are barely moderated at all and still filled with whiney douches... *shrug*
  7. You can rub your own belly, but I'll help you chase cats on afternoon walks. Again, the pints need to be flowing... :)
  8. But I hardly knows ya! Buy me a pint and we'll palaver... Then we can talk about favorite segues... :D
  9. I'm laughing at some of the comments. CP USED to be known as the biker bar of rushy message boards. CP is now more like that dive bar that once used to be mega-hip, but now its mostly the old, crabby regular drunks show up and think they own the place... My motto has always been, if there is a topic of conversation that interests you, regardless of message board, then by all means, JOIN IN THE DISCUSSION. Who knows where it will end up, but half the fun of these little online convo's is the myriad sidetrips and segues that occur in any given discussion...
  10. Be thankful, because back then, it was really bad with people reaching out IRL to cause trouble for others based on nothing more than "I don't like them!". For those unaware of the quote, "We're so close to Anthem, we may as well be Anthem."... Let's just say the board wars of years past - aren't anymore - THANK GED! and I see no reason for them to start up again just because some people get bored...
  11. Actually, we would laugh our collective asses off if there was video. :D
  12. Different boards have different vibes and regulars who post. I don't see a reason one needs to slag on an other. Didn't some of you already go through this a decade+ ago? Wasn't it idiotic then? Why continue the cycle? Be the better person and hang out where you feel most comfie... If a place is better suited to your delicate sensibilities, then by all means, frequent it, but you might want to refrain from calling out others with thicker skins who seem to enjoy these tete-a-tetes... Just sayin'.
  13. Just another baiter taking on the masters, 'round these parts, it seems. He/she/it/whatever also tries trolling CP but gets ignored a lot. For those forming opinions on a message board, about a message board you've never even been to; Grow up and try not to get yer panties all knotted up over nothing.
  14. I think they are giving out free TRF t-shirts to all. For the ladies who prefer there will be tank tops available as well..... :sarcastic: Yes yes, they will come pre-shrunk and maybe a little damp from all the moisture in the air, but please, feel free to put them on and post pics... Oh darn, mine seems to be a bit tight. pics or (t)it didn't happen... :D
