  1. Physical Graffiti is one of my favorite albums of all time so it’s an easy choice.
  2. Haven’t been on line in a while. Surprised to meme thread on front page. I guess I need to fix my sig.
  3. Glad to see you haven’t changed a bit earl. I saw them at a carnival back in winter 82/83 since we went on the strength of brads playing on speak of the devil and dawn patrol hazard to blown up yet. Both were released in November 1982. Id say about 400 people were watching them. I last saw them here at the zoo about 6/7 years ago for a local food/ beer fest.
  4. Can’t remember the last time I signed on to the site. When I saw the sad news I had to offer my condolences. It’s very sad that he missed so much with Selena and Jackie to now miss out on Olivias teen years and beyond. RIP Neil
  5. Rey is simply a naturally gifted Force-aware human, who happened to have two loser parents. It would be like a child with Mozart-like ability, but being born into a backwoods family, with no chance of realizing her potential. Just as Anakin and Luke were Naturals, so is Rey. She's intelligent and a quick learner. She was already adept at fighting and piloting on Jakku, but she was unaware of what the source of her skills truly was. And like with any great athlete or artist, they're not all the same. They don't all learn at the same rate. Some naturally learn more quickly than others. Anakin was a natural because he was the chosen one. He didn't have a father, and I get the feeling we're supposed to interpret that more like his mother just became pregnant with him via the mystery of the force more than he was an abandoned baby that showed up on her doorstep. Luke was somebody, he was the son of the chosen one. So as for Rey's heritage, it would not be Star Wars if she wasn't related to somebody very special, or she was someone very special through the force, some kind of new chosen one (I'm banking on Anakin Skywalker reincarnate). I’m comparing the fact that Luke worked very hard with Yoda to be trained and still told he wasn’t ready with the fact that Rey just shows up and does stuff. We could say that as Luke had a lot of doubt and fear in him, it hindered his progress. The Force is strong in the Skywalker family, but that doesn't mean they're the strongest. Rey and Ben appear to be stronger. It’s disengenuous to say that the other movies gave the impression that using the force could be made to look easy for a newcomer. Anakin used it in the pod race but he wasn’t manipulating consciously but reacting. Rey is consciously doing advanced things including understanding advanced saber combat with absolutely no training. Some explanation is needed. Disingenuous? Really? OK..... :eyeroll: I never said that the Force could be made to look easy for a newcomer. There is nothing "disingenuous" in suggesting that some Force-sensitive people are quicker learners than others. Rey was already well trained in hand-to-hand combat with her staff on Jakku. She was just not using a lightsaber, which is just another weapon that anyone can use. Learning to use the Force just made her better at it. Finn could also fight with a lightsaber, as he was also trained in hand-to-hand combat as a Stormtrooper. You just can’t have a regular discussion like normal people, can you? My opinion is as at least as valid as yours. I suggest you relax and enjoy a conversation about a fairy tale, not anything that can have a truth.
  6. Next time you need a cop don’t call one cuz they’ll bring weapons.

  9. Just got back. I liked it overall. Much better than TFA which was a huge disappointment. Things I didn’t like: Poe thinks he’s starlord If Rey’s parents were nobodies and she had no training why does she so easily use the force. I really want an explanation for this. The way Luke went out. Things I liked: They nailed the casting for Rey. She kills it. Seeing imperial guards/supreme leader guards in action. It’s good to see crazy plans and ideas end up not working sometimes like the Finn/rose mission and the rebel attack at the base in the rust buckets.
  10. Digital all the way. I think about the time and money wasted on dubbing LPs to cassettes so you could take them in the car and how fast cassettes went bad and have no desire to return to those days.
  11. Unfortunately the people who make these decisions probably can’t see a difference between Bon Jovi and Judas Priest so there was no way they were both getting in. They probably also think the cars and Depeche Mode are similar. Biggest surprise was no Radiohead. They are the darlings of the type that do this.
  12. No What distraction would there be going with a buddy? Oh, man, so many possibilities: commenting on scenes, hi-fiving, significant glances, can I have a sip of your Coke . . . anything that might take your eyes off the screen or your ears off the soundtrack. The old “hole in the bottom of the popcorn bucket” gag
  13. I voted on this some time back. The “grunge” songs I feel were just good songs that fit a certain niche while the thrash era started with a lot of preconceptions that make them seem too narrowly focused and less organic. They don’t hold up as well. A lot of thrash songs started with “did you hear the latest song from _______? It was fast. We’re going to write a an even faster song, maybe the fastest ever.”
  14. Saturday night 7pm. Don’t have to avoid spoilers too long.
  15. Not a CCR fan? CCR is fine. Hotel California is an all time classic. CCR doesn’t have one. Of course they do. Numerous, in fact. In that case we’ve found out for the millionth time on this forum that everyone has a different opinion when it comes to music. I don’t find anything CCR has done to be anything more than decent. That doesn't mean they don't have all-time classic songs. It just means you, personally, don't like the songs. You guys can be a real treat. I know what I mean and I mean that I don’t believe any of their songs are all time classics. As far as me not liking them that’s just you putting words in my mouth/hands. I never said I didn’t like CCR.

  18. Since he’s retired not much reason for people to worry about this.
  19. I had experience from my youth and military days but haven’t fired a weapon in many years.
  20. Oh shit, I better respond. Don’t want to get a lifetime ban from Sams.
