  1. You plan your Halloween marathon, you even get "House on Haunted Hill" in a new, shiny, 1080 version, but then comes Sunday night and you have to bring your wife and your mother to the movies... to see this: http://static.screenweek.it/2014/8/18/La_moglie_del_cuoco_Teaser_Poster_Francia_mid.jpg ...which is not really that bad, just your classic French comedy, well done. Unless you are afraid of French comedies, in that case this might even kill you.
  2. I reckon it should be a weekly series. I subscribed to the channell so I won't miss a thing.
  3. I haven't looked at the literature on it for a while now, but I remember thinking that Pete to some degree predicted the Internet age. Digital/virtual communication, and greater divide in the human-to-human sensory experience part of life. We live in a fantasy world. Jean Baudrillard comes to mind. It's really cool stuff. Pete Townshend: "The essence of the story-line was a kind a futuristic scene…It’s a fantasy set at a time when rock ’n’ roll didn’t exist. The world was completely collapsing and the only experience that anybody ever had was through test tubes. In a way they lived as if they were in television programs. Everything was programmed. The enemies were people who gave us entertainment intravenously, and the heroes were savages who’d kept rock ‘n’ roll as a primitive force and had gone to live with it in the woods. The story was about these two sides coming together and having a brief battle." That reminds me of 2112 in a way :D Or The Crimson Idol... or any other rock rebel fantasy concept...
  4. OK, so she doesn't have the best pipes for this kind of music, but she sure knows how to liven up what could have been an extremely dull video. I disagree. I think her voice is perfect for this. Her work with Tony Bennet sounds authentic, and I could easily mistake this album as a collection of grade A vintage recordings. Only major pop star who rivals her is Beyonce. That's not much of an endorsement. There are certainly female vocalists in the recording industry whose voices are far more suited to singing jazz standards than Lady G. OK, just to expand my musical knowledge, could you drop a few names? I don't mean to engage you or challenge you, I just would like to know so I can listen to them.
  5. You're missing out... I have seen all of the "classics" from back in the day enough times. I just don't have the interest in those kinds of things I used too. I have no problem and respect folks who feel differently but its just not my thing.... :) Never meant to imply that, mate.
  6. You're missing out... This is what I've planned, not sure I'll be able to pull it off, but anyway. This year the word is: "quirky". So I'll be concentrating on some minor classics, unknown movies, off the chart, artsy partsy kind of thing. I'll start off tonight with "Let the right one in". The calendar is as follows - House on Haunted Hill (the original and only) - Kiss of the Damned - Carnival of Souls - Apollo 18 (it's SF but it's still scary) - Killers (Korean movie about two serial killers going rivals on YT, should be sick as hell) And of course I'll finish with the immortal classic - Attack of the 50 foot Narpski
  7. Hahaha! Excellent! Glad I am not alone! So now I will tell you a secret on a public forum where most on here probably hate GaGa and Bennett! I bought a floor ticket row T to see Tony and GaGa down in Los Angeles! It's on Feb 8th! A week before my 47th birthday. I recently bought a 2015 Audi TT. I am going to hop in that car and drive down the 5 by myself! I'm leaving the boring wife behind. She doesn't like to go to shows anymore unless they are country! So my birthday present is to see Tony Bennett perform in the flesh! He's 88! I must do this!!!! Watching Tony and GaGa sing together in a small art deco venue should be mind-blowing! The show is at The Wintern on Wilshire! Can't wait to spend some quality time in LA alone! My hotel is about a mile away. Then again "NOBODY WALKS IN LA!" Signed, MISSING PERSONS AUDI TT??? A frea*ing, fuc*ing, ble*ding AUDI TT?!?!?!?! Our long-time friendship is officially over, Earl. I don't love you anymore. :P :P And by the way, AUDI TT is another word for MIDLIFE CRISIS!!! :codger: Signed, Faith No More HAHAHAHAHA! Well shit my man I am 46!! LOL! I'm half way to death and I might be single again. Of course if this happens my Audi will go bye bye! I fell in love with this car dude. It's phantom black on black with black and silver rims! The car kicks ass but guess what? It doesn't have a cd player so I have to plug in my fukking iPod which only has about 140 albums on it. LAME!!!! My car was already in the shop. Some asshole grazed the left quarter panel and scraped up my rim. I had a Ford F150 for a week. It was fuckking fun too!! Hey I transferred my plates over though. Remember? My California plate is BU2BYYZ!! You still love me because "WE CARE A LOT!" Signed, "EASY" I simply have a hate for everything Audi nowadays, Earl. It's currently the poster car for mafiosi and parvenues around here, after years of BMW and Mercedes. If someone comes an inch to crash into you, drive you off-road or anything else "Blues Brother car-chase" style, you can bet he's driving an Audi. signed, Red Barchetta
  8. Pete Townshend all the way! Mark Kozelek Mark Eitzel from American Music Club, here's an example Also, some of the great great lyricists of the Great American Songbook from the past. I was just listening to "Nature Boy" on my way to work today (from the Bennet/Gaga album) and those lyrics are simply great. In my book, Neil is nowhere near what a great lyricist is. He's stiff, preposterous, too literal, rigid, cold. That's not to say that I don't love him.
  9. The bald one is Phil Anselmo, ex-singer of the mighty Pantera (ARE YOU TALKING TO MEEEEEEEEHHHHHHH....) and metal-icon whatsoever. The young one, I'm told he's a comedian but I know zilch about him.

  11. I know, and you're damn right. But sometimes you just don't want to take the flack. You know how it is.
  12. The box set looks cool, and I'm going to look into it further. But there seem to be some strange inclusions and omissions. I was fairly convinced that "Water," for example, was intended for Lifehouse. And, by contrast, how can "Sister Disco" possibly be a Lifehouse song? Did the box set come with a book of some sort that elaborates on the track list? Unfortunately I have only the digital files, but I'm sure the real box had a booklet (with a transcript of the Radioplay, which would be damn useful since I can't make head or tails of many passages). Besides, since Lifehouse was all about the concept of music transforming people, the inclusion of Sister Disco made damn sense to me. While Water, same as Naked Eye, I always had the impression they were "stage songs" born out of live improvisations and then recorded. I say this because they sound so much better live!
  13. Aaand here we go! http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o371/x1yyz/2112badge_000_zpsec38423f.jpg Hey, I'm still waiting for mine!!!! Where did you ge that??? Me too. Maybe he's waiting for a sizable donation from us. :laughing guy: I just noticed that there's no member number, so this might be a Photoshop joke. When I get my badge I want it authentic.
  14. Yeah, I'm digging this album a lot, but I've been keeping it to myself because I didn't think MOTS was the best audience for this kind of thoughts. I'm really glad you like it too!! That "Goody Goddy" adlibbing is hilarious!! And the sound of that Hammond....
  15. I have the box set released by Pete himself some years ago, complete with the Radioplay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifehouse_Chronicles#Track_listing What amazes me is that, really, all the great Who songs, with the exception of Quadrophenia, were all written in that short time span. Must have been some serious creative juices!
  16. Fixed the title. Nice job. How 'bout my Badge, now? ;) :P

  18. Not to be OT, but I fear your title might be a tad misleading. Expect some heated comments.
  19. :o Yes, I think you may be. :o :o Yes, I think he might be. http://d.f14.photo.zdn.vn/upload/original/2013/03/03/20/57/13623190451365389206_574_574.jpg
  20. I must be the only one who doesn't like Siberian Kathru...
  21. He seemed to be a lot less "rock star" than many others I've seen. I'd like to encounter him outside of being a fan at one of his shows. I understand that he is a mountain biker. I'd love to talk bikes with him sometime... And he likes to drink espresso coffee so I'd like to drink one with him since I love coffee too :) Not being a D*ck here, but I always have a hard time with this fascination for espresso. Maybe because around here is like breathing air. I mean, it's not a big deal. You go in, order an espresso, add sugar and SLURP. Done. Pretty short conversations around it. With Tony, I'd have a capuccino at least!
