  1. Well, sure. Like I think I already said - you almost had to be there when it came out. Same way you had to be there when The Doors first showed up. Or Cream. What did we have as a point of reference? It was all new back then. Today you can look back on decades of music to see how a band measure up today. But back then, we didn't have that. Same with Stairway. It made quite the impact. Does "right place, right time" imply luck? I know luck is part of success, but whenever I see the term "right place, right time" I get the impression it's suggested the success or reputation isn't entirely deserved. I just think that every great song has a window of opportunity, so to speak, to become timeless and Stairway nailed it. The whole acoustic/electric thing, the mysticism in the lyrics, the 70's all played together perfectly. It's not even their best song and none of the others reached this high. There was certainly some luck (or divine intervention) involved. It most certainly is their best song.
  2. "It's only right now" I think your wit has finally transcended my comprehension sir.. Whatchu talkin bout?? Lol Kiss lyric to Lick It Up...aka the song you mentioned. Don't make me bust out with that dumb ass video Haha! I remember laughing at the 'lick it up' lyrics when they were printed in Hit Parader magazine centuries ago. Pretty much the whole page consisted of 3 words.. 4 if you include 'aaaaaaahh' That's two more words than the usual song by Kiss! They're worth a deuce.
  3. f**k no. Greatest song of the rock and roll era of music.

  9. I would argue it's the greatest rock album of all-time. Of course, my current mood and mindset usually dictate how I vote in these polls. I loved The Beatles for a longer time than I loved London Calling. In the end, it's all nitpicking. It's ok. I find it very over rated as far as the actual songs go.
  10. 5 stars despite "Hats Off..." The other 9 songs range from incredible classics to excellent!
  11. Maltese Falcon From Russia With Love North by Northwest Star Wars Casablanca
  12. From Wikipedia: Always on My Mind" is an American country music song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, recorded first by Gwen McCrae (as "You Were Always On My Mind") and Brenda Lee in 1972. AllMusic lists over 300 recorded releases of the song in versions by dozens of performers.[1] While Brenda Lee's version had stalled at #45 on the country charts in 1972, other performers would reach the top 20 in the United States and elsewhere with their own versions: Elvis Presley in 1972; John Wesley Ryles in 1979; Willie Nelson's Grammy Award winning version in 1982; Pet Shop Boys in 1987; Loretta Lynn in 2016.
  13. Appreciate the reply, which was quite informative.... Why do you think this mindset is particular to the USA?....are there other countries who feel the same way about their particular emblems? I think there is a feeling of superiority in the U.S. you likely won't find anywhere else. The U.S, the protectors of the world, the melting pot of people who came here from elsewhere to have a life that couldn't have in many places. Am I patriotic? Yes, and I do think people should show respect at sporting events by removing caps and remaining silent during the anthem and be respectful as a courtesy to others. It's not asking much. Sadly though the U.S. is now the divided states of America. People draw lines in the sand and won't cross them no matter what. It's rare you find someone who thinks and judges things independently. Instead they will follow one ideology to a fault with no room flexibility on any issues. It's actually quite scary that the side someone supports will be defended whether they do wrong or not. There is always a way to justify the wrong doing of the party you support because the other side is worse. The media is one sided and compartmentalized so you only get one the side. The side they want to present, and the other side is always wrong. MSNBC would NEVER in a million years support anything Trump could ever do no matter what much as Fox news would NEVER give president Obama credit for anything he did in 8 years in office. Sorry, I went off track a bit.... There are no absolutes but in the general the right loses there minds over this issue while the left is more apt to say, hey is not the end of the world its only a flag. I know plenty of people who think and judge independently. I'm one.
  14. Watched this last Thursday. Saw it back when it came out. Still enjoyed it immensely.
  15. "Murica" dammit!! That piece of cloth is more important than any and everything!!
  16. Neither have I. Never have stepped foot in one of their places, and never will. But many others do patronize the place and thought they'd be interested in this newsy news. Why do you avoid Starbucks? The same reason why I don't frequent any of those places. Or restaurants. Good answer! (actually a pretty stupid answer as you relayed zero information. Thanks)
