  1. EXACTLY!!! Read from the link that David Bottrill did the new remixes. At least that means the OLV and ES remixes from Retro 3 will not be a part of this. I'm still not happy it was remixed instead of just remastered, but at least there is hope that I'll be happily surprised by what this dude's effort is.
  2. The article says remixing: "The band had recently been overseeing a remixed version of our Vapor Trails album, from 2002, as we had never been happy with how it turned out. I found that trying to listen to those songs again was too upsetting, taking me back to a mindset and emotional state that hadn’t been good to live through then, or to relive now. I had to “recuse” myself from those judgments, and the Guys at Work understood, of course." They might just be at the Mastering portion of the project. Agreed. It looks as if they were remixing the album, not just remastering it. I'm not excited about that at all. In my opinion, the Retro 3 remixes SUCK! The feel, the punch, the emotive power, and the raw edginess was totally changed on both OLV and ES. I dread imagining what that same treatment would do to the remaining songs on the album. The original mix of the album kicks ass, and should not be touched. I've said this many times before around these parts that it has already been proven a remastering of the original mix can be done successfully. A remastering was done in someone's basement years ago, and the songs sounded so much better without having to touch the mix. I would like to think a professional engineer with all the latest professional equipment at their fingertips would be able to remaster VT brilliantly. This entire remix idea will never make sense to me if the entire album will be like the Retro 3 failures.
  3. I HATE :moon: acoustic cover versions!!! http://1.1.1.4/bmi/www.therushforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/rage.gif Publicly trashing this wasn't necessary and a bit cruel. It seems simple, if you don't like something don't look at it, and leave it alone for others who might enjoy it to do so. Be cool.
  4. So she must be the classier former member of the Runaways. Also the only talented one. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
  5. Incredibly moving. For never knowing you or your family, I found myself more emotionally impacted by what you created than I had expected. I am truly sorry for your loss.
  6. Happy Birthday! Enjoy it.
  7. Hey Goobs! Big favor to ask. Can you tell me what the track list on the Fly By Night Cassette is? I know it was different than the vinyl/cd. My friend had it on cassette and it was the first album pre-2112 that I was introduced to/blown away by. I'd love to remember what the order was. Come to think of it, are there any other cassettes that had the track list changed? If so, what are they? Thanks! I'll try and find them and check, but it might take awhile - they're packed up a bit... Wait... no need to dig. I didn't realize they were packed away. It's not that important.

  9. All of these are better pics than what was used in that article. Geddy looks like a cackling old witch in that one.
  10. Happy Birthday! Miss you around here. Enjoy it!
  11. Echoing every post... Much love for the Brothers Gibb. Not just their work, which touched upon so many genres, but also the work they did with other artists.
  12. Cool! They were harder than I thought to get in there. I sampled the 'hey' from Rush In Rio, but had to somehow diminish Neil's live snare. That was a challenge, but I got it. The 2, 3, 4 had to be placed in individually to keep in time. I was happy to get it to finally work.
  13. Yes Alex's speech was especially annoying since he said nothing at all... ... If you thought Alex said nothing at all, you weren't paying attention. Precisely. Alex spoke a million words, and told a great chronological story. I loved it. :ebert:
  14. Nice!! Glad you got it worked out. After all that... I hope the audio version proves to have been worth all the effort.
  15. Really, better than the R3 remixes? Are you trying to get me excited? Can't wait to hear more feedback on this. Maybe this is why Chycki's VT remix work was shelved- so it wouldn't compete with the iTunes VT remaster. It could be that, or because they realized those remixes suck. (my opinion)
  16. That baffles the hell out of me. I don't have Quicktime Pro and it's letting me save the file in Google Chrome, and Firefox. In fact, Firefox immediately puts up a option box asking if I want to save the file first before playing it. Damn... It's time to pull in the Gurus. @1-0-0-1-0-0-1? @USB Connector? @barney_rebel? @launchpad67a? Anyone?
  17. I am intrigued. Are these the iTunes releases I'm seeing a buzz about?
  18. Are you sure? If I drop the url into my browser's address bar, I'm able to right click on the player and get a Save As option for the mp3 file. This sucks, I hope it works.
