  2. QUOTE (Oberon @ Nov 27 2004, 12:18 AM) Water sounds at the beginning of Natural Science. Yeah - that's awesome!!
  3. QUOTE (earthshine21122 @ Nov 27 2004, 12:17 AM) Ok, baby steps for me, more to follow. The end of Trees, when the birds are chirping and the dogs are barking echoing over the newly cleared land. Ok growin up fast here, same song the part right before the second verse, almost classical music sound, but better. Went from crawling to running - can't name the songs, but when Neil double times on the high hat (scuse my bad drum terms). Also when Neil does the marching band roll on the snare drum (again pardon my drum terms). Geddy's funky bass solo's & his oh's escpecially after we will pay the price, but we will not count the cost, oh oh oh oh wo!!! Alex's solo loss for words here - ok his signature sound. Oh they all have there signature sounds Geddy's "Voice" and bass, again Alex, and Neil. To much information running thru my brain, great quoting the police, sorry, must rest now. You're speaking of Bravado. yes?
  4. ok here's another: Red Sector A - At 3:51-4:00 listen to the keyboards as the music is entering the last chorus. Take special notice at 3:58. The awesome drum fill (which is one of my favs from Neil) sort of hides the keyboards here. They are awesome!!!
  5. Hey.... what's yours is mime, and what's mime is mime!!
  6. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Nov 26 2004, 11:09 PM) * The Camera Eye - The way the bass does those extra few notes during the slower part following the verses I just love as a bass player. They are just tiny little notes that appear at 4:538:42 Moon - I 'think' I know what you you're talking about with the Camera Eye. I'll have to check out the song and make sure. If I'm following what you're saying..... It's one of my favorite parts of the song! My fingers always pluck at my steering wheel to those tiny bass riffs. I love them!!
  7. Great stuff folks!!! and welcome to the board.
  8. Ok folks. Over the years of listening to every niche and detail of Rush tunes. I've heard some incredible sounds nestled within the layers. It could be a slight slide on a guitar string, or a keyboard trigger, or a sound effect... What cool stuff have you heard that would normally escape a casual ear? As I think through some tunes I'm sure I'll remember or find plenty.. but to get things started, here's a few from the top of my head. Totem - during the 2nd chorus in parallel with Geddy singing the word Monsters.... there is this twang sound in the background. Listen carefully for it.Secret Touch - at precisely 4:00, have your balance all the way on the Left channel. Awesome little slide sound from what I think is the guitar.Roll The Bones - During the final chorus, has anyone ever noticed the 'skeleton' saying "Because we're here" along with the vocals? You have to listen really hard, but it's there. It's the same "Because we're here" that blares out at the end of the live version. It's actually easier to make out as the music is fading. I have some others, but would like to hear from you!! What stuff have you heard? Also, tell me what you think about the three I mentioned above.
  9. QUOTE (NeilPeartFan2112 @ Nov 26 2004, 10:13 PM) My uncle and I were digging through his old albums and stuff yesterday, and he found a Permanent Waves Tourbook sitting in his closet. He said he didn't need it and knowing how much I love Rush gave it to me. This is something I'll treasure forever. Saweet pick up, buddy!!!! I love collecting tour books. I hope he finds that Hemispheres book for you.
  10. QUOTE (Rolinda Bonz @ Nov 26 2004, 04:12 PM) Mime Stand Still HAHA - your sense of humor is just like mime.
  11. Can we get back to worthwhile topics please? You're wasting my mime. HA
  12. QUOTE (shine @ Nov 25 2004, 04:44 AM) Power Windows was my first cd ever and I remember almost giving my grandfather a heart attack when Big Money started. He jumped 2 feet in the air!!! Blew the tweeter soon after that. Because of that I'm voting for PW. Tomorrow will be a different CD. Great story!!

QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Nov 22 2004, 11:51 AM) QUOTE (paganoman @ Nov 22 2004, 11:26 AM) This is amazing. I have a question for you.... you stated that the stars within these galaxies are most likely not to collide. Do you know what the actual event(s) are expected to be as these two galaxies continue to collide? I guess to ask it another way... What is going to happen to IC 2163 as it is overtaken? I can answer this one. IC 2163 will be engulfed by NGC 2207, thus making a larger, more dense 2207. Gravity is the key factor here, 2207 is much larger and will pull anything and everything into it. There could be collisions of one kind or another which will just create more matter, making it even more dense. For example: if Jupiter were closer to the earth, it's gravity would pull us right into it, making for a very impressive event...if you could see it from another planet!! So IC 2163's 'sun' becomes just a star within NGC 2207's galaxy? The stars/planets that currently orbit to IC 2163's sun will change their orbit and their direction to NGC 2207's sun? Is this a fair guess? I wonder what will happen to the surfaces of these planets as their rotations change over time. KEWL

QUOTE (RushRevisited @ Nov 22 2004, 11:00 AM) http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0411/ngc2207_hst.jpg Explanation: Billions of years from now, only one of these two galaxies will remain. Until then, spiral galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163 will slowly pull each other apart, creating tides of matter, sheets of shocked gas, lanes of dark dust, bursts of star formation, and streams of cast-away stars. Astronomers predict that NGC 2207, the larger galaxy on the left, will eventually incorporate IC 2163, the smaller galaxy on the right. In the most recent encounter that peaked 40 million years ago, the smaller galaxy is swinging around counter-clockwise, and is now slightly behind the larger galaxy. The space between stars is so vast that when galaxies collide, the stars in them usually do not collide. This is amazing. I have a question for you.... you stated that the stars within these galaxies are most likely not to collide. Do you know what the actual event(s) are expected to be as these two galaxies continue to collide? I guess to ask it another way... What is going to happen to IC 2163 as it is overtaken?
  15. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Nov 22 2004, 10:15 AM) Have to add a couple of quotes from this one... Mr. Incredible: "No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again! I feel like the maid; 'I just cleaned up this place! Can't you keep it clean for ten minutes!'" And from the BAD GUY, Syndrome: [to Mr. Incredible] Syndrome: "Elastigirl? You married Elastigirl?" [sees the kids] Syndrome: "And got biz-zay! " I love it.... I remember those lines. This movie was just awesome!!
  16. I'm gonna load this sound file in my MP3 player and have it play in the bathroom at my next party. Then everyone will think that whomever is using the bathroom is the one making those sounds.
  17. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Nov 19 2004, 11:57 AM) QUOTE (Moonraker @ Nov 19 2004, 04:21 PM) I dunno why, but all I can think about is Carve Away The Stone. The "greek god" reference to Charles Atlas is whats doing it I guess. I dont have any lyrics to refer to, just thats what pops in my head. And that's the reference to focus on!!! WTG MOON!!!
  18. It also makes me think of Hemispheres. Can't pick a lyric to fit, but Apollo and Dionysus make Cygnus a Greek God.
  19. This is a long shot, but... Blankers and boasters, all the bluffers and posers I'm not into that scene Best I Can?
  20. I still have not voted here. I just can't. I love Rush as a whole. Each CD has it's own life to me. Yes... some more than others, but none more than the rest. Sorry I can't contribute here.
