    CP R.I.P.

It is to the small and dwindling community of people, including myself, who like to chat there. Westboro Baptist probably has a forum, though they'd probably kick the CP crowd out at some point for being too homophobic. Yer so cute.
  2. Don't worry bud. You can still get all the footlongs you want.... http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/19/ex-subway-spokesman-jared-fogle-pleads-guilty-to-child-porn-sex-crimes/?intcmp=hpbt4

I was never bothered by the Mormon bashing. I don't know, maybe it's because I was a convert I could see their POV, and I knew for the most part they were ignorant. They're still at it. I think it bothers them more when they see it's not working.

The political forum was just as partisan as SOCN, but it had a more even balance of lefties and righties. The righties are pretty much down to FJ and Oak now. I was "banished" because I'm pro-universal healthcare and anti-gun. And the last gun thread got really nasty. It's because I wasn't there as the voice of reason. ;) Possibly. It was a doozy. It got personal.

  6. Classifying DMB as '90s fratboy music' ignores what it actually is. It's very unique, and pretty darn popular. The band itself is very talented. Beauford's one of the best. Dave's acoustic work is highly unique. Lessard is as solid a bassist as they come. Tim Reynolds can shred with just about anyone. LeRoi (when he was alive) had an iconic sound. Jeff Coffin and Rashawn Ross solo multiple times a night, and I don't think many people understand just how difficult that can be. I only know of 2 DMB songs off the top of my head, and one of those I only ever heard once, but it was cool. I think it was called "Too Much", or something like that. But I've seen Jeff Coffin with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones about a half-dozen times, and he's amazing.

Were you ATW from the beginning or did you have a different user name? I seem to remember already being there when you showed up, but I don't remember being there as early as 2002. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure if I started with ATW. I remember threads about Rush's first show at Mohegan Sun, because I was blown away that they were playing my little backwoods hometown. I may have actually started out there as edhunter. But because of the crashes, there's no way to know for sure.
  8. In my experience guitarists can just seem to pick up a bass and be awesome, but it doesn't always work the other way around. Just how much experience do you have?

I joined CP in 2002, right after I moved back to Connecticut from Hell. There were a lot of great personalities, some of which are still there. Only 3 of the Brit trolls are still there. I think NickSlick was here for a while. I've had flame wars with folks there that I get along greatly with now. Again, you just needed a little thicker skin.

It's a wonderful place! You just need a thick skin and to not be a slobbering fanboy.
  11. So the band is feuding. Oh well. It happens to all of them. The Eagles, Rolling Stones, Van Halen, KISS, and (soon) Guns 'n Roses made gazillions touring while they hated each other.

Looks like the board has either crashed again, or Fenderjazz has followed through on his threats to shut it down. If so, it was fun while it lasted. There was less activity there, but better quality posting than TRF. And the flame wars were epic!
  13. I've just learned from a source inside the band's inner circle that Neil was the reason for the delay. Not only did he refuse to tour Europe, he's doing everything in his power to keep the DVD from being released there too. What a selfish prick.
  14. How many Utah members are on TRF anyways? I'm seeing more and more. I was imprisoned in Utah from '92 to '02. I was able to escape back to Connecticut for 7 years, but was foolishly lured back to Utah in '09, and imprisoned for 4 more years. I won my release two years ago and fled to Massachusetts. It is my sincere hope to never set foot in that miserable cesspool of a state ever again. Unfortunately however, spousal parental units still reside there, so I may not have a choice. Club 90 is exempted from the above statement. That placed rocked. At least when we were there....
  15. If you want an excellent example of a drummer that can outgroove Neil while keeping it simple, check out AC/DC. Phil Rudd is one of the absolute best rock drummers in the world.
  16. Going back to Power Windows I'd rank them... R40 CA Snakes '07, not '08. Test For Echo Vapor Trails R30 Counterparts RTB Presto Power Windows Hold Your Fire Time Machine
  17. I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard the single. Driving down 9th East about 7800 South in Midvale, UT. I heard it and thought, "Well, they had a good run..." Some of those songs I've only heard twice.
  18. The Test For Echo album is the worst piece of recorded filth in the history of civilization. So no. They don't like it.
  19. You can take the JARG out of CP, but you'll never take the JARG out of JARG'D....
  20. Obviously, you can't feel that way about R40, right? R40 was fantastic. We got The Wreckers in Boston and Geddy's black double neck. And my drummer got a pic with Donna Halpert
  21. Time Machine was utterly horrible. I flew from Utah to Chicago to see it with a buddy and his friend, who was there to officially review the show for an independent Chicago newspaper. He asked for a quote he could use and I told him I was extremely disappointed, and that they mailed it in. Bad selections from the Counterparts album, too many Snakes and Arrows songs, the lousy encores and those stupid movies. He went ahead and published it. I still have all the photos he took from right in front of the stage. I eventually had some autographed.
