  3. i hate roll the bones because it is horrible. TFE and VT i don't hate, i just find them incredibly boring. S&A i consider a return to form.
  4. don't listen to the haters, your first song is fantastic! I nearly wet myself laughing . Maybe next you can parody Blackest Eyes or Lightbulb Sun? just a suggestion!
  5. is trolling really news to some people?
  6. QUOTE (tick @ Sep 14 2011, 09:50 AM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Sep 14 2011, 09:23 AM) Had two hours listening time on the train down to London this morning and I found the DT a bit samey for this kind of shut-the-world-out listening. Opeth's Heritage on the other hand, was near perfect. Far more diverse, interesting and, yes, tasteful. I give the new DT 5 1/2 out of 10 but it is a step in the right direction. Its too bad I can't handle growing vocals or I would probably really love Opeth. They were good live. Alas, I just can't do the growl. if the harsh vocals are the only thing keeping you from listening to them, the new album Heritage should be right up your alley. Similarly to Dream Theater, they underwent a drastic turnaround in musical style and direction with the departure of a band member, and the new album has 100% clean vocals. Definitely worth a listen. The album Damnation is also completely clean, but the entire album has a mellow, smooth tone to it, whereas Heritage keeps a heavier and proggier sound at the same time.
  7. doing pretty well on itunes, and CD sales will most likely be high as well. I'm kind of considering buying a second copy just to spite mike portnoy.

Stick to Facebook and other people folums ferra. Not allowed on Facebook According to whom, if I may ask? http://www.facebook.com/help/?topic=signup Second Bullet-point under "Before you Sign Up". You have to be 13 or over to create an account. you have to be 18 or over to look at porn sites but that doesn't stop preteens and teenagers everywhere from checking off the "over 18" box and doing it anyway.
  9. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 12 2011, 07:49 PM) Here's one thing we can ALL agree upon. Ringo is by far a better drummer than anyone Yes has ever had. ringo could drum circles around alan white.
  10. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Sep 12 2011, 03:29 PM) I'll only scrobble if I want to convince myself that I'm psychologically ill. ?

  12. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Sep 11 2011, 12:02 PM) QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,Sep 11 2011, 11:03 AM) Facebook is fricking scary. I just made one for school because we need one and I made a new email address, signed up under a different name, and did not put any additional information...and somehow it is recommended me all these people I already know... It happened to me once. Someone I knew showed up yet we had no mutual friends. Apparently those are people who searched for you and clicked on your profile. they are almost always people who are in your email contacts list.

  14. don't you love when people think that age is a valid arguing point?
  15. if train of thought is one of the albums you "usually" listen to, its no wonder you don't like them
  16. the last movement of Mahler's 9th symphony has some of the most devastating harmonies ever -- throughout the whole half hour you keep feeling like it's going to resolve to something triumphant but it never does.
  17. QUOTE (Earthshine @ Sep 4 2011, 05:09 AM)Neither. Go buy a pre-1980 Jethro Tull album!
  18. QUOTE (shail @ Sep 4 2011, 12:13 PM)the album hasn't even come out yet. how do you guys have a copy already? someones new to the internet
  19. i guess mike portnoy leaving dream theater hit his bank account a bit harder than planned.
  20. can't say I understand the people who complain about the ballads....This Is the Life isn't really balladic from beginning to end, and Far From Heaven is more like an interlude than a song (think in the vein of Wait for Sleep or Vacant). As for Beneath the Surface, I think it's a fantastic song, and a great way to close the album after the total craze of Breaking All Illusions.
  21. QUOTE (Akron162 @ Sep 3 2011, 06:01 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Sep 3 2011, 01:59 PM) Why you didn't list all there albums is beyond me? Does it matter if you have heard them or not? It would more accurately tell you which albums are fan favorites. Oh well, most polls are bad anyhow. for me, it makes a lot of sense. besides, nobody is forcing you to vote or say anything, if you think is bad just f**k of. why does it "make a lot of sense" to you? when you entitle the thread "your favorite dream theater album", it implies that the selection includes every dream theater album. Perhaps a more fitting title would have been "your favorite of these dream theater albums", or "which one of my dream theater albums is your favorite?". At the very least, an "other" option should have been included. honestly, it's not often that I agree with tick, but honestly this thread is f***ing stupid.
  22. Awake is the best Dream Theater album, with Falling Into Infinity riding close behind. (If FII had been released in its original form, it might've overtaken Awake). Train of Thought is one of the worst things in the history of recorded music, not sure why it's even part of the poll options. Seeing as how my opinion isn't represented in the poll I just voted ofr the closest thing (FII).
  23. so just because you haven't listened to them means that no one else who participates in the poll has listened to them either?
