  1. Jesus. You're nice. I like CP better as a smaller board. We have a good crew of smart people over there. Much less casual meanness in the vein of your post. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.
  2. I agree... It drips with emotion... sap? That doesn't sound like the AG I used to know...people's tastes change I guess... good music doesn't change in my mind...always been that way for me... "Doesn't sound like the AG you used to know"... I've never claimed to like everything in Rush's discography. I've always been critical and opinionated about the songs I don't like and what I don't like about them. I've never been anything other than exactly this person on line. Never. Go suck an egg, ORF. I didn't ask you for your opinion of me, nor your opinion of CA. Abolutely did NOT mean to offend you AG. You were always one of my favorite people on CP. Didn't we connect on Billy Thorpes' "Children Of The Sun" album? I remember that deal...And Yes, I remember your 'attitude' from back then, but I never begrudged you of it. Like I said, I've always liked you. Sorry to have overreached in the last post. I just assumed people on a RUSH board generally liked all of their music like I do. My bad. Once upon a time, in the halcyon days of CP, we were friends. I sent you banana bread when you had a death in the family. You sent me the Billy Thorpe album (I only ever still listen to Children of the sun, it is my favorite song, period. I don't listen to the rest). But somewhere along the way, during the final days of old/new CP during the Bored/Board wars you changed. All of a sudden friends turned on friends, Bored, some of whom had been around loyally since the beginning of CP, became the enemy and blamed for 'trying to break the board', even though we were perfectly willing to work w/ SUndie and the admins to close the (then) current bloated Bored thread that was weighing the board down and open up a new one to optimize the rest of the board. Yes we were willing to do that, no big deal, we understood and were willing to do what it took...but we became pariahs. Purposefully (according to the admins and sycophants, of which you were one) trying to break the board. SUndie was sucked up to by Ken, Julie and board members like you and effectively you ran us off. Fast forward three years and the entire Counterparts Message Board was wiped clean...why?! Because That asshole SUndie left the board on a server at a place HE DIDN'T EVEN WORK AT ANYMORE!! And they wiped the server clean. Ooops, there goes CP. SUndie, the guy you guys sucked up to incessantly, that we warned you didn't give a damn about the board itself, effectively destroyed it. Fast forward to new/new CP (circa whenever the last time you hung out there) and you were kind of an asshole as well...lecturing people on how to behave whilst pretty much being an asshole yourself. So there, ORF, my reason for reacting to you the way I do. Rush and our selective tastes in their music has very little to do with it. You really need to work on not pulling your punches. ;) :P Do I? I don't know if I can do that.

Thanks, AG, your explanation makes sense to my older, addled brain, and I'm sorry for any hurt that was given to the folks at CP by myself. The Banana Bread was EXCELLENT! I NEVER WANTED to become an Asshole, or hurt that board or it's membership. Please accept my apology! I accept, and thanks.

  5. Seattle, WA (Cuz i'm from there and though it's changed immeasurably since I left, it still has most of the places I love and I know that place like the back of my hand as well as the eastside of lake WA (the Seattle area)) New Orleans, LA (Lived there for a few years in the late 90s, was married there...my husband and I go back and visit every other year or so for out anniversary) Bangkok, Thailand (Went there in 2013...it's so cool and different from where i'm from. The sites, the food, so good) Pittsburgh, PA (lots of stuff to see and do, been there many times) Vancouver, BC (lots of stuff to see and do surrounded by gorgeous mountains and water, been there many times)
  6. The I'm Bored thread was particular, and it's crew had a special kind of 'stream of consciousness' style of posting. Believe it or not, it wasn't all about superposting and post counts like people claim. There was actual communication and conversations going on. But few stuck around long enough to find out. If you hung around there long enough you could get into a groove and it was a lot of fun. If you didn't bother, you didn't get it. Heck, some of us that hung out there are still friends and communicate w/ each other on a regular basis.

  8. I liked CA when it first came out. It hasn't aged well for me. I don't listen to it anymore.
  9. Agreed... his voice on Clockwork Angels was fantastic. Fantastic?! Can I have your version? He sounds bad on mine, particularly Seven Cities of Gold. For the majority of CA his voice had much of the funeral dirge about it (see: The Anarchist, a song that musically is fantastic, but once the vocals come in... Oy ). A hold-over from S & A. Perhaps I just don't care for the lower registers of his voice as much. Fantastic is certainly a subjective term.
  10. When asked if he'd like to collaborate on a project w/ respected musicians and major personal influences he replied "in a Heartbeat" and it's seen as a revelation. Question: Will he shave the smurf off his chin first?
  11. In its heyday CP was the place to be. Endless hilarity and good times for those who could hold their own there (not everyone could). Now it's a ghost town w/ tumbleweeds rolling down the street, and a small hand full of people who absolutely refuse to leave the dilapidated saloon bar for more lively pastures. If it's finally and truly dead it's been a long time coming. RIP Counterparts...you were dead to most of us a long time ago.

I think you meant to put "will" instead of "to" in your quote above. Ew. it is possible that there might have been a different grammatical error in his quote. But how much fun is there in pointing it out directly? Well, I mean, 'has' should be changed to 'have'...but that's not the one I was looking at after your 'will'/'to' post. OK, I didn't think my joke was all that obscure. You had it right the first time. The obvious error was that he used "Whose" instead of "Who's" which made for the other error to be possible but not probable... Carry on. Now that you mention "obscure"... IMO, Pratt, far too often, becomes so enamored with his own lyrical content that the meaning rockets into the black hole of Obscurity Z-1 f**k. ME. DEAD. grammar is exhausting. You were doing just fine with those one word sentences.... You reached just a little too high. Flew too close to the sun?

I agree w/ your mate. Then again, I don't think anything pre or post NS can surpass it lyrically. That's the best Neil ever wrote or has written since. Natural Science is a masterpiece. His lyrical magnum opus.

Actually, my last post had nothing to do w/ the quote itself. And technically the line is "Who's come to slay the dragon?" So you're correct.

Counterparts is lyrically fantastic to me. Especially CTTC, Double Agent and Cold Fire Cold Fire?? Holy hell. It's putrid. "It was long after midnight, when we got to unconditional love" So bad it should've been on Test For Echo. That's not even the worst line! She said just don't disappoint me, You know how complex women are. or It was just before sunrise when we started our traditional roles Oh Neil, please shut up. It's all just so cringeably bad. The chorus is solid though. Sure, the chorus. Because it's so easy to listen to that w/out hearing the cringey bits. :eyeroll: (in other words... does it matter?)

  21. This right here. MP is such a great sounding album that it’s hard for any of the live versions, except YYZ, to be compete with the recorded versions. YYZ live has been rendered substandard to the studio version (not to mention idiotic) by the stupid singing. The whoooooaaaa whoooa whooa whooa...that started in Brazil only to be taken up by moronic Americans. IT'S A f***ing INSTRUMENTAL, PEOPLE!! AN INSTRUMENTAL!! SHUT THE f**k UP!!!

  23. Not always poor PolarizeMe never did I DID!!! wankers Me too. Brought to you by my least favorite Rush song. Thanks for nothing, Goose!!
  24. The reason Emotion Detector has never been played live is because it absolutely sucks. When we lift the covers from our feelings... Seriously?! That made the cut as the opening line?! Get the f**k off , Neil. Almost as bad as Dreams flow across the heartland... Almost. *shudder* so bad.
