  6. The crowd was loud as hell in Phoenix, totally into the show, and I didn't see anyone sitting down. Sold out too...
  7. The Phoenix show last night was amazing! Cameras everywhere in the crowd and onstage. The guys played great and the crowd was loud as hell, like Phoenix crowds always are. No one was sitting and the show was sold out. I took tons of killer photos and some video, and I'll post them in a day or so.
  8. I grew up seeing Rush play 'only' in arenas, so there is something magical about arena shows for me. Haven't seen them in an arena in 15 years and I'm really looking forward to this tour. I like both indoor and outdoor about the same. Although indoor concerts always feel more personal to me.
  9. QUOTE (LedRush @ Oct 15 2012, 09:02 AM) QUOTE (cronker @ Oct 13 2012, 11:01 PM) Sorry, but have to disagree about it being a great track. For me, it's cringeable. Being gay myself, this song presents itself as a straight man writing about how "cool" he is with gay people. And failing. Neil could (and really, should) have written a deeper analysis of the plague that was, and is, HIV. To me, it comes across as twee. As another fail for me, Geddy doesn't sound convincing in his vocal. "Nobody's Hero" would have been far more powerful if it was in the style of "Losing It" or "The Pass", both of which deal with emotive situations far better. I don't think you understand the song. The song is about people who have played important roles in others' lives, or who have undergone struggles of their own, but aren't considered traditional "heroes". I have no idea if the man died of AIDS or not, but he was a "hero" to Neil for showing Neil a world and an understanding that he didn't have before, living in his small corner of Canada. You can't hate the song for not being about a subject you want a song about. Judge it for what it is. I'm not saying you have to like it, but your criticism seems odd, to say the least. Right on...This is exactly what the song is about. How can anyone see it any other way? I like this tune, both music and lyrics. Powerful and melodic.
  10. They've been playing it for months here in Phoenix on KDKB. I hear it almost everyday.
  11. Miley Cyrus' entire company/corporation/empire is worth over $1Billion...fyi. Pop sells, always has and always will. Nothing wrong with that, more power to anyone who can make money in the industry.
  12. Wow, this kid is really, really good! I'm very impressed on every level of his ability. Super creative, incredible chops, sick grooves, amazing speed, just all around awesome! Sure it's "just a solo", but I guarantee the guy can groove with a band. All the grooves he played during that solo tell me he can lay it down with a full band. If you don't think this guy is amazing, there's something seriously wrong with you. He's on a different level than 99% of all drummers out there. Thanks for the link, I'm now a fan!!
  13. Anyone pick up that there are 3 members of TRF mentioned on that sputnik post? Jomboni, losingit2k and sonic. Just pointing this out.
  14. Very cool and what a gig. Glad she's enjoying herself!
  15. I do the same thing during shows, and I Didn't copy this from Neil. I do it for 2 reasons; 1) to grab a bit of rest without the crowd looking at me. 2) to stay hidden/out of the light, if I am not the one who starts the next song. Both of these things involve grabbing the towel for a quick face wipe. But that's it, nothing more to it.
  16. "Modern Rock Sound" is not really a recording technique...it's the way bands sound now days. They are loud and noisy. You think recording engineers are adding noise to records on purpose? Hell no...the bands are noisy and this noise makes it onto the recording. I like some "modern" bands, but so many of them just aren't very good musicians and don't play with any clarity. This is what you hear as your "modern sound". There is no reason why Loud can't equal Clear. There is no reason every modern rock record has to sound the same. So the whole "loudness" thing wouldn't be an issue if bands played with more clarity. Hell, you can record audio up to 0db (the limit) and still make it clear. Also, about being old and not relating to the sound of "modern rock music": Anyone with any knowledge of sound and music will tell you that digital recording has reduced the sonic enjoyment of music. Try playing the record version, vs the MP3 version for anyone, especially a kid. They will all say the record sounds so much better. Sound quality has nothing to do with age.It sounds good or it doesn't.
  17. The common 'guy rule' is to always blast one on a first date. I mean, guys fart and they fart a lot. So getting it out of the way early let's both people drop their guard a little. If you can fart on the first date, and then there is a second date, chances are pretty good there will be many more. Just sayin'......
  18. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Sep 7 2012, 09:55 PM) This thread: 71 pages 1,406 posts 47,873 views IN 12 HOURS. Pretty amazing man. Server got to stretch it's legs a bit tonight for sure. I love this set list, can't wait!
  19. Most professional musicians, stage managers and producers will all tell you to, "say thank you, wave to the crowd, and run off stage". This is the pro way to end a rock show. It's not a theater performance or play...it's a rock concert. The old saying will always stand true, "always leave them wanting more". You never stand there on stage an glitter dick for the crowd. So I agree with how Rush handles themselves at the end of a show.
