  1. I was incredibly lucky this morning to grab 5 tickets to this amazing festival. It sold out (300,000 tickets) in under 2 hours! Those who aren't aware, it's a 2 weekend festival on the Coachella grounds in Indio, CA. Friday - Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones Saturday - Neil Young and Paul McCartney Sunday - The Who and Roger Waters We're going Sunday October 16 to see The Who and Roger Waters. I am so stoked for this show.
  2. I don't really dislike any particular instruments, because they all have a place in some type of music. But I do dislike how and where some instruments are used. For instance, I don't think violins or flutes belong in rock music as main instruments, but I do love Kansas, Jean Luc Ponty and some Jethro Tull. I don't care for 5 string basses or 7 string guitars, but I suppose they have some usefulness in certain music. Although the "saw" is not an instrument, some people seem to think it is. That needs to stop, now!

  4. That is awesome!!!! WOW!!!! Hey do have a link to watch some of your band? I think I watched a video or two years ago! I can't remember!!! STYX RULES! Thanks man. It was a great show. Here are a few videos of my band doing some Zeppelin. Here's an original tune,
  5. We opened for them in 2011. Great guys, monster players. Todd Sucherman (drummer) is a friend. Here's a link to my facebook photo album from the show. Styx & Filabusta 2011 http://www.filabusta.com/images/styx_concert/styx_drumhead_signed_2011.jpg
  6. This June my band is headed to 25th Street Recording in Oakland, CA to make a record with the amazing John Cuniberti, who is Joe Satriani's producer/engineer. He has graciously invited out to this world class recording studio for 12 days to make a 10 song record. One of the great things about this project is it will be All Analog...no Pro Tools, few overdubs, no computers, all to 2" tape through an API 64 channel Vision console. This is a huge opportunity for us to record with John Cuniberti. He is a world class producer/engineer who has produced some of the biggest bands, and of course all of Joe Satriani's records including Surfing With The Alien. Needless to say, but we are f*cking stoked!! Here's a video tour of the studio, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij7UXO5SNC0 , and some images below. http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_2.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_1.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_3.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_4.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_5.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_6.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_7.jpg http://www.filabusta.com/images/25thstreet/25thstreet_8.jpg

  7. This is great. I dislike most tribute bands, but these guys nail it pretty well. I'd go see them. Anyone else notice the broken bass drum head in Cinderella Man?
  8. You can separate and rip individual tracks in VLC. http://www.wikihow.com/Rip-DVD-Audio-to-MP3-Using-VLC-Media-Player
  9. Sure you can.1) Go to ... Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen2) Change the Background setting from Windows spotlight to Picture.3) Browse and select your picture.4) Done!I'm aware of the steps. Nothing happens when I change from spotlight to picture, after trying repeatedly with multiple restarts. No further options appear, especially not the desirable "browse" option. Broken on my end!Did you upgrade to Win10 from Windows 8 or Windows 7? Or is your Win10 a clean install? Reason I ask is because the upgrade apparently has a registry bug that causes this issue. There's a fix. Let me know and I can help more. Windows 7 uprade, and not a clean install. My windows 7 was actually just about broken to the core with registry issues, and upgrading to windows 10 breathed new life into this laptop, fixing everything. Thing used to fail to boot 80% of the time, in addition to generic slowness. Alright. So here is a fix, but it involves editing the registry so you need to be careful. We'll be making a backup, so it's pretty safe. If you're not comfortable doing this, then don't do it. 1) Type "regedit" into the main search box (start button), and Open the Regedit program that is listed. 2) Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen 3) Right-Click on the main Lock Screen Folder and select Export. (we're making a backup here) 4) Name the file and Save It to your computer where you remember how to find it (if needed). 5) Download and Save this zip file: LockScreenReg 6) Extract the file (lock_screen_reg.reg) from the Zip file. 7) Double-Click the "lock_screen_reg.reg" file, and it will run and rewrite the registry entry. At this point you should have control over the lock screen settings, so check it. If not, reboot and check again. If something goes wrong, you can simply use the backup Lock Screen Folder .reg file that you saved in step 4. Just double-click the .reg file and it will rewrite the entry back to the way it was. Let me know how it goes!

  12. Installed Win 10 Pro on a separate partition, and now I'm "dual booting" Win7 & Win10. Runs like a dream! Didn't think I would like Win10 but I LOVE IT. Super fast, highly customizable, great interface, runs apps. There are however some privacy issues with Windows 10. I created a PDF highlighting the important privacy settings you should look at. I recommend these settings. PDF - Windows 10 Privacy Settings There are also a number of ways to drastically speed up Win10. I will post a pdf of those soon. **Guess I should add that I haven't found any programs that won't run on Win 10. All of my audio and video software, printers, cameras and external drives installed and are running perfectly. I even installed Office 2002 onto it just fine!

  15. Saw them in Phoenix a few months ago, from the Front Row Pit! Maybe the best rock concert I've ever seen. These guys are the real deal, and they put on an in-your-face rock show. Amazing energy, great performances, perfect production, and their 2 hour and 40 minute set was a massive greatest hits show. I was a fan before this concert, but now I'm a huge fan. More bands need to pay attention to the Foo's, and bring back the Rock. I took some pretty nice pics from front row. On my Facebook (public): Foo's Live Pics
  16. Talked with my friend Bill Bottrell last night, master of All things audio and multi grammy winner. He turned me on to an amazing new product from Heritage Audio. The Heritage TT33. Anyone who knows anything about recording knows that the NEVE 1073 Preamp is the Industry Standard, and the most sought-after pre/sound in the business. Unfortunately, the original Neve preamps have a very steep pricetag. If your lucky you can find them around $4000-6000, for a single channel strip! I'm lucky enough to own 2 of these strips!! Anyhow, Heritage Audio has come out with an Exact Replica. They are 1/4 the price, and some say they sound even better than the original 1073. This is a "lunch box" unit, meaning it sits on the floor and has it's own power supply. You can mount it in a rack, but it's Not a rack mount unit, it's a Single Channel stand-alone pre. At $1200 this is a must-have for anyone who can afford it and is serious about recording. I'm thinking off selling some of my PA gear to buy 2 of them based on the recommendation from grammy winning producers, who are using them in their studios, and actually say they use them more than the original 1073's in their boards. Great for Everything....but especially Vocals and Drums. Here's the link: http://www.heritageaudio.net/product-12-tt-73.php You're welcome! :7up:

  17. Yes that's correct. You can only post an image that is hosted somewhere else on the internet. There are many sites that allow you to upload images for personal use, like Photobucket. Once you upload, you can then post it here using the image URL within the tags.
  18. Foo Fighters Tonight, in Phoenix at Ak-Chin Pavilion. Tickets are in The Pit...front row baby!
  19. Did you see Meru? If not, go see it now.
  20. Seeing it tomorrow in IMAX with my good friend Brian O'Connor, son of supreme court justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Brian has summited Everest without oxygen, and he gave me one of my prize possessions, a prayer scarf that he took to the summit! Pretty cool seeing this film with someone who has climbed the mountain.
  21. Yep, sorry it was from July 17. My bad.
  22. Oh, well I not sure. The article was dated yesterday. If it's old news then sorry for the post.
  23. Hope this hasn't been posted here yet. It's pretty awesome! Rush Is A Band member was on Jeopardy last night, with Neil's sticks as a good luck charm. Not sure if she's a member here at TRF. http://www.rushisaband.com/blog/2015/07/16/4416/Rush-fan-on-tonights-episode-of-Jeopardy-brings-pair-of-Neil-Peart-drumsticks-for-good-luck On a side note, my good friend Tina Uihlein is on Jeopardy tomorrow night (friday sept 18). How ironic.
  24. Part of the reason I married my awesome wife, 12 years ago, is because she's a Rush fan! She felt the same way about me. Still says it to this day.

PRIVACY NOTICE: In the 45 page "Terms of Service" (TOS/privacy statement) it specifically says this: “We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.” Also, Cortana, the new personal virtual assistant collects this info from you: Your device location Your email and text messages data Your Calendar data Apps you are using Your contact list Who’s calling you With who you are in touch more often Your alarm settings, Your music on device What you purchase Your search history in case you’re using Bing search engine. The Terms state this: “To enable Cortana to provide personalized experiences and relevant suggestions, Microsoft collects and uses various types of data, such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on your device.” “Cortana also learns about you by collecting data about how you use your device and other Microsoft services, such as your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browsing and Bing search history, and more.” But...there are ways to turn some of these spying features off. It's a lengthy process and not easily accomplished by basic computer users. So, install Windows 10 if you want. I won't.
