  1. No, it's a great big noisy mess of a thing, but there are 4 or 5 tracks on CA more deserving of a place.
  2. A crying shame. We should start a petition. A prayer group, anyone? The lads aren't getting any younger, be nice for them to be honoured before they shuffle off.
  3. Thank you sir! Hope you have settled in your new home.
  4. Dammit man, if I had tear ducts, I'd cry, if I had cheeks, I'd blush. And be able to sit down.
  5. Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer. All of it. That movie f***ed me up. Couldn't sleep after watching it.
  6. A worthwhile double post. Brad Delp every day and twice on Sunday. Thank you, benevolent leader. Thing is though, DDY is a very good composer and songwriter, but his inflections give me hives. On my balls.
  7. Double post. So yeah, Desert Moon sucks whale arse.
  8. Dear departed Brad. DeYoung overeggs every f***ing note that comes out of his rancid gullet. Many's the fine Styx track strangled to death by his mewling.
  9. Seeing them tomorrow night in Bristol!
  10. Crises is magnificent. The title track is astonishing. His best long form track since Incantations, IMHO.
  11. Rabble rousing shite. They got mildly interesting around Achtung Baby/Zooropa/Pop, then back to the flag waving, lighters in the air bilge.
  12. Interesting and very plausible take on Led Zeppelin. Would your opinion be different if Zep acknowledged their theft of authorship from the get-go? The obvious plagiarism and stubbornness in giving credit has always been a sticking point with me. Still, Zep is massively great, IMHO. I think so, because every blues they "reimagined" you can hear the foundations loud and clear. In My Time Of Dying is so similar to Bukka White's version it's kinda galling. Still love 'em, but my ardour has cooled a bit.
  13. Would always have put Zeppelin at the top, but as my love of the blues grows, my love for Zep decreases. In terms of inventiveness, hard to beat The Who.
  14. I love jazz. Spent years listening mainly to Miles & 'Trane, but around 5 years ago spread my wings a bit, and I've still only scratched the surface. FWIW, my favourite artists: EST Billy Cobham Art Blakey Stanley Turrentine Erroll Garner Count Basie Mahavishnu Orchestra Return To Forever Weather Report Dizzy Gillespie Louis Armstrong Oscar Peterson Roland Kirk Wayne Shorter Herbie Hancock Buddy Rich Cannonball Adderley Stan Getz Chet Baker Louis Jordan Charlie Parker Earl Bostic Lester Young Charles Mingus Thelonious Monk I'll stop now, JAZZ IS HUGE.
  15. He was great. Distinct cat-being-strangled voice, but hard to imagine BIB or a single like Thunderstruck without it.
  16. Prairie Wind has some great songs on it. And the Heart of Gold film he did at the Ryman Auditorium to promote it is absolutely fantastic. I would say Le Noise is my favourite from this century though. Nobody's mentioned his debut album yet, that's got some classic stuff on it :) Prairie Wind! Of course. It's early over here...forgive me... Yes, the debut, love it. The Loner, his template is there. Fabulous. Great calls.
  17. Life Trans Chrome Dreams II Sleeps With Angels Are You Passionate? The Monsanto Years Broken Arrow Greendale Hawks & Doves Old Ways This Note's For You Time Fades Away American Stars n Bars Silver & Gold Le Noise I'm forgetting a few. The ones the OP cobbled together are great too. Even at his dodgiest, Re-Act-Or, Landing On Water et al, he was able to cough up a gem or two. Rush fans not liking his voice. Or Dylan's. Rush fans. That's funny.
  18. I love Manchester. Outside of Dublin, the city I've visited the most, gig-wise. Seen Rush there, twice. Met Tony R there, Madra Sneachta & Mandalorian Hunter. I will always go there. Nothing will stop me. Mancunians are great folk, all colours, all creeds. The bastards will not not grind them down.
  19. Haha! I love you Hatchet! YOU ROCK! UP THE IRONS! You're the man Earl, I don't like seeing you upset, I hope time & the power of rock n roll will heal your heart. As the back of my Foghat tee says: "When I was stone blue, rock and roll sure helped me through." Love 'n' Rockets, THE IRISH CONTINGENT
  20. I would rate AMOLAD, BNW, DOD and TBOS equal to or better(in parts) than Powerslave. f**k it, throw in FF too.
