  1. Went with TEW. Surprised to see Afterimage in the final.
  2. Manhattan Project gets my vote!! C'mon MARATHON!!
  3. Bing'n'Bowie - Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth My wife bought a triple CD of this nonsense, it's been on non-stop for 2 weeks. My only respite is when Tull's Ring Solstice Bells and Greg Lake's I Believe In Father Christmas come on. If I hear Mistletoe and Wine one more time, I'm gonna get medieval on Santa.
  4. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Dec 18 2006, 07:21 AM) Don't do it Goobs, the sort of people who work on radio are crackpots, nutjobs and social misfits. Be afraid, be VERY afraid Oh my God!!!!!!! They're breeding!!!!!!!!!!!! We're all doomed! DOOMED!
  5. Bob Dylan - Planet Waves Peter Hammill - Singularity Dream Theater - Images and Words Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2 Cat Power - The Greatest Joanna Newsom - The Milk-eyed Mender VDGG - Godbluff (on vinyl, at last!!)

  8. Simple Kid 2 Director - We Thrive On Big Cities Dream Theatre - Once in a Livetime
  9. I have it, it's a nice piece. My Rush buddies think it's the coolest thing since penguin nuts, my wife thinks I'm a sad person.
  10. Love all these, a total clean sweep, not a stinker in sight, all bought on the same day. That does not happen too often! Richard Hawley - Coles Corner (fab, as always) Joanna Newsom - Ys (astonishing) Madeleine Petroux - Half The Perfect World (beautiful) Ben Folds - supersunnyspeedgraphic, the lp(worth it for his cover of "bitches ain't shit" alone) Bert Jansch - The Black Swan (he's back!!!) Lyndsey Buckingham - Under The Skin (Playing it in the car all week, gorgeous, just gorgeous) Buy All These!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hats, mugs, knickers, Rushgoober bobbleheads, anything! Count me in!
  12. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 17 2006, 01:15 AM) QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Nov 16 2006, 12:33 PM) The only ENTIRE catalogue I have is Rush, but I'm close to finishing Led Zeppelin - only "Coda" and live albums to go. All I'm missing by Zep is Coda in terms of studio material, but I don't have the BBC recordings either. I have The Song Remains The Same, but no other live discs. I consider my Zep collection pretty complete (or as complete as it's likely to ever get), but didn't list them because it's technically not complete. The BBC sessions are well worth getting.
  13. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 13 2006, 08:25 PM) Nick Drake I have all his stuff also, essential for any collection.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 13 2006, 04:22 PM) Rush is an exception as I have SUCH a high level of devotion to them and have loved them for so long that I'll get every album they put out, even though I haven't been as crazy about most of their latter stuff compared to their earlier and mid-period stuff. That's exactly how I feel about the bands I've listed. I mean, I didn't buy "We Can't Dance" expecting to be blown away. And I wasn't. Ditto "Coda". Ditto "Open Your Eyes".
  15. I have quite a few, but more interestingly, I have a number of acts entire back catalogue on Vinyl and CD. They are(chest swelling with manly pride): Rush Yes Queen VDGG King Crimson Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd Genesis Other back catalogues I have on CD, are: Peter Gabriel Husker Du The Replacements Pixies Mahavishnu Orchestra There's more, but my brain is mush today for some reason........
  16. QUOTE (Fridge @ Nov 12 2006, 04:12 PM) QUOTE (what went wrong? @ Nov 12 2006, 04:49 PM) anything can be seen as a sad song if looked upon with a negative perspective... What, even the Hippy Hippy Shake? Especially The Hippy Hippy Shake. Just imagine, the song comes on and you're dying to Shake Your Hips, but you can't(pick a reason), or you want to shake a Hippy(ie) and there are no Hippies around, I would imagine one would find that song rather upsetting.................. That song should be banned!!!
  17. As mentioned in an earlier thread I've yet to hear anything as harrowing as most of the songs on Lou Reed's "Berlin". Caroline Says, The Kids are unbelievably bleak. Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" is heartbreaking.
  18. Man In A White Car - Yes - short but sweet like this post.
  19. Here goes. Queen - The Works - This is a poor album when I listen to it today, but when I first heard Radio GaGa and saw the video, it transformed me from a shy, bumbling tit of a thing into someone who had a passion, which was Queen. I'll always remember that album fondly. Taste - Live at the Isle of Wight - an introduction to Rory Gallagher and walking home on long summer nights wailing the guitar solos with a couple of buddies. Led Zeppelin 2 - The awakening. I had Vol 4 but hadn't "got it". got the best of Billy Joel for Christmas, so I sold it the following day and bought LZ 2. The rest is history. The Yes Album - I had bought Classic Yes on LP and was transfixed, the Yes Album was the first CD I ever bought. Husker Du - Hew Day Rising - punk with a heart and a brain. Pink Floyd - The Wall/The Final Cut - As a moody 16 year old, these were the bibles of angst I was looking for. Planxty - The Black Album - I was always suspicious of Irish trad music, but this cleared some very muddy waters for me, as did Andy Irvine and Paul Brady's "Purple" album. Genesis - Trick of the Tail - my first Genesis album, even though it was only a couple of years ago that I decided to really" get into them. Soundgarden - Superunknown - See Pink Floyd quote and switch 16 with 23 Nick Drake - 5 Leaves Left/Bryter Layter/Pink Moon - Albums for every mood I've ever had. Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - REM - Green - Pixies - Come On Pilgrim - Television - Marquee Moon - my 1st year college soundtrack. There's a lot more, but that will do for now.
  20. Amazed, no, GOBSMACKED that no one has mentioned Brian May (OK, Treeduck mentioned someone called "Hendrix May", must be Brian's lesser known 1st cousin, I always thought he went into the landscape gardening business....) or Steve Howe or Robert Fripp!!! You're all mad, MAD I tell you..............
  21. Vetiver - To find Me Gone Shack - The Corner Of Miles And Gil David Gilmour - David Gilmour Various - Nuggets - Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 65-68
  22. The Greatest Band Of All Time! I must dig out "DVD", haven't played it in a while. Take a break from "Replay", which has been on heavy rotation.
  23. Floyd - Pulse(DVD) Dylan - World Gone Wrong Elton - Madman Across The Water Futureheads - News And tributes
  24. Saw Roger Waters last Thursday night, it was remarkable. Nick Mason came on for the 2nd half and for all of DSOTM. Stunning show, 2 1/2 hours, venue packed. Saw Robert Plant last night, same venue (Marquee, Cork), again astonishing show, Strange Sensation are a fantastic backing band. Roy Harper was at the side of the stage taking photographs!! Looking as mad as a leg of salmon. Hard to say who was better. Roger's show was very emotional, as you'd expect, particularly Southampton Dock and Fletcher Memorial Home. Robert's was very spiritual, he was very shaman-like last night.
