  1. https://alexlifeson.com Great to see Alex has been keeping busy and has more new music in the pipeline.
  2. Limelight and Vital Signs (Could have easily chosen Red Barchetta instead) Side One is perfection, Side two marginally let down for me by the New York and London sections of The Camera Eye being a little too repetitive. Some powerful lyrics from Neil on this album, that helped to shape my world view as an adolescent. It saddens me that forces of bigotry and division seem to be in the ascendency on the world stage once again. They say there are strangers who threaten us Our immigrants and infidels They say there is strangeness to danger us In our theaters and bookstore shelves That those who know what's best for us Must rise and save us from ourselves Quick to judge Quick to anger Slow to understand Ignorance and prejudice And fear walk hand in hand
  3. Time Stand Still and Turn The Page. I like less than 50% of what's on offer here. I didn't listen to this album until 2011. I've really tried to get into it, but for me it like a sterile less interesting version of Power Windows.
  4. An improvement on HYF. Having searched high and low (but mostly high) Alex at last discovers where Geddy had hidden his acoustic guitar for most of the decade... During an interview at the time promoting the release of Presto, he recalled "How could I have been so blind, there it was all this time hiding in plain sight, behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands... it was beautiful"... He continues "Geddy was livid at my discovery! I played him some ideas I'd come up with, but he just said it was nothing new, just a waste of time, we had no need of ancient ways and our world was doing fine. A massive argument ensued, harsh words exchanged... Neil, ever the peacemaker, eventually intervened after we nearly came to blows and by way of a compromise, I was permitted to play it on a few songs. My solo classical guitar composition however, didn't make the final cut... "
  5. Never owned it, never heard it, so can't vote...
  6. I was really starting to think, will they ever let Alex play an acoustic guitar on a record again by this point...
  7. Bought this on vinyl on the day it was released in 1985, didn't buy any new Rush music until Vapour Trails dropped in 2002...
  8. I'll happily pay for a digital download of the live material. However, as I already own an original copy of PeW on vinyl and a CD version, I have no need for anything else on offer in the package.
  9. A travesty. Did Hugh Syme design that piece of shit? A travesty. Did Hugh Syme design that piece of shit? "Design" that's being too kind! Someone please have a word with him...
  10. The reworking of the cover art is nearly as bad as the AFTK 40th anniversary abomination ...
  11. YYTrees? Couldn't they have resolved their differences in a more amicable manner!
  12. How do you know what day it is? oh i don't know, look at your cell phone? or open the lower right corner of your windows desktop? HOLY CRAP. I never knew you could do that. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/12/17/14/4767FF3E00000578-5188173-image-a-102_1513520032060.jpg That’s my favorite month! Is that a sneak preview of Hugh Syme's artwork for the 40th anniversary release?
