  1. If only. I'm hoping for part of it in a medley (fingers crossed for "No One at the Bridge"). It's definitely a song that deserves to be revisited, it shows how astonishingly creative they were even when they were super young I was personally hoping for at least Panacea. That is one of the most beautiful little songs I have ever heard in my life. I wonder who it was written for and about? Do you happen to know if Neil wrote those lyrics? Or was it Geddy? I think they wrote some of their best in the seventies. They were musically brilliant. That entire album fit in so very perfectly with the times back then. But, as with AFTK, I never heard it on the radio. I was holding out hope for Panacea for awhile. Right up until Alex had to say it was the worst Rush song along with Tai Shan. What an asshole! Panacea isn't even a song! And Panacea is absolutely gorgeous, I can only assume Neil wrote the lyrics
  2. Great version, Ged killed the vocals. The bass during the second verse is super epic
  3. This. I think people are hating too much on spaghetti. At least he's funny most of the time! We already drove away Gemini, that guy was hilarious!

  5. I think it's 100% certain they'll play this on the next tour on account that they dropped it for the CA tour
  6. Not a bad review at all, although the Ayn Rand bashing was pretty lame, and completely unnecessary.
  7. A cited source from one of the guys? No. Opinion? Cause it's not that great of a song compared to the rest of Counterparts. Says who? If it was such a crappy song, they wouldn't have included it on the album. In their eyes, it must have had some merit for them to include it. Then explain Tai Shan. I'm sure that Geddy and Neil absolutely loved Tai Shan when they released HYF. I don't think it was until recently that they started acting so embarrassed by it
  8. Beach boys? Alex couldn't carry a tune with handles on it. Those harmonies would be dreadful. They'd have to bring in the Geddy Choir for that one
  9. The EPA is why you're still breathing more-or-less clean air - especially in the mid-Atlantic. But yes, having driven a few AR's (my favorite being the '81 Sud that just kept on going...), I know what you mean. Good one...
  10. Not even one song? Nope, not a one. It's the least progressive album they have done since their debut. Shiny shite. Hmmmm, I don't know about that. I would say Counterparts is definitely more progressive than FBN. With the exceptions of Anthem and Bytor (maaaaybe Rivendell) FBN is pretty much a typical 70s rock album
  11. I used to hate it for quite awhile, but in recent months it has really grown on me and I now love it! Animate, Nobody's Hero, and Everyday Glory are probably my favorites, but I think every song is fantastic. Although I would say that Roll the Bones takes the title of "Best 90s Rush album"
  12. Haven't decided if I think it's worth purchasing, but it doesn't seem very promising. Anyone watch it yet? If so, what did you think?
  13. I thought The Body Electric was the highlight of the tour....
  14. Sorry...but a bad Rush album IS bad by anyones standards. Vapor Trails might be an important milestone historically for the band, but musically it just...plain...sucks! Otherwise, I concur! I agree Segue. VT is audio vomit. sound quality aside......I just don't like a single song. Not one. Mick I guess I can understand not digging VT. But audio vomit? No way. Even if there isn't a song you like on the album, it still has some very interesting musical elements. I would consider "Abracadabra" or "All Star" to be audio vomit, but nothing by Rush!
  15. Kansas doesn't even have a song that approaches Lakeside Park....let alone Xanadu!
  16. No sh^^! The Bass playing and sound kicks ass. :haz: I would love it if it were added to the list of songs. I agree this is a great song. Awesome head-banging beat. The song just makes me smile. :) I love the part when Alex's solo kicks in! :haz: :rush: One of the craziest sounding guitar solos he's done in any song. Yeah I love it, it's probably my third favorite solo on the album, behind Lock and key and Open Secrets. All of them are so emotive!
  17. Cheesy? More like EPIC! During that first synth breakdown it sounds like Geddy is at the controls of the universe! The Master of Time and Space!
  18. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose Sebastian Bach really f*cks it up in the documentary! "I was into the story!" What kind of rock band makes a 12 year old read The Fountainhead??
  19. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose Sebastian Bach really f*cks it up in the documentary!
  20. I would consider By-Tor, A Passage to Bangkok, Xanadu, The Trees, Natural Science, Distant Early Warning, The Pass, Roll the Bones, and Secret Touch all obvious choices... Either because they are singles, well loved, or often played live. The Trees and Distant Early Warning especially!
  21. Rush: Here Again Fly By Night: Rivendell Caress of Steel: The Necromancer/FoL (I guess the only possible way would be in a medley, which would be awesome!) 2112: Lessons A Farewell to Kings: Cinderella Man Hemispheres: Any part of Cygnus X-1 Book II Permanent Waves: Jacob's Ladder (or Natural Science, but that might be too obvious) Moving Pictures: Vital Signs Signals: Countdown Grace Under Pressure: Kid Gloves Power Windows: Emotion Detector Hold Your Fire: Turn the Page or Lock and Key Presto: Available Light Roll the Bones: Face Up Counterparts: Nobody's Hero Test for Echo: Totem or The Color of Right Vapor Trails: Vapor Trail Snakes and Arrows: We Hold On Clockwork Angels: The Wreckers
  22. It's not too bad if you ignore the lyrics... My one gripe about people hating on Test For Echo. This isn't the case for a lot of people and I am in no way generalizing, but I really hate it when people take a dump on T4E because they don't like the majority of the lyrics. The focus of this album was the instrumentation. Back to the classic progressive hard rock they are widely known for from '76-'81 period. I will say however, that I think Dog Years does suck hard. But man, I do like Virtuality :haz: THAT RIFF Well said, especially the part about Dog Years, it really is a huge blemish on that album. Although, I can't seem to get into Time and Motion either
  23. Those two for sure!! And you have to include an instrumental. I guess it's personal but Leave That Thing Alone always has a vibe of summer/car windows down for me :) LTTA has a pretty good Summah vibe, but as far as instrumentals go I think Where's My Thing? takes the cake
