  1. So far today just picking and choosing from Speak Now, these songs a few times: Back To December Dear John The Story Of Us Haunted Last Kiss
  2. It was definitely a weird way to phrase it, lol. He really just retired so he could raise his first child.
  3. I do, it’s true. I was singing every word the second time I saw him. They did the whole new album in order right in the middle of the set with cool string and brass interludes. It was magic.
  4. Spent too much time listening back to a song I’m working on today to listen to an album. But I did play Dear John.
  5. As someone who loves Panic!, very little of their material is *that* annoying. Speak Now made me do a 179 on Taylor, and ME is the 1% I’m still tossing out.
  6. That’s why I started here! I remembered you sending me the live version of Haunted and actually liking it. But now I love it. I needed this whole album badly right now.
  7. Taylor Swift, just Speak Now for now. This is going to influence my songwriting, I dare to believe for the better.
  8. Back To December feels like it was written just for me and I found it just when I needed to. I think I’m gonna be deep diving with Speak Now for at least a week or two before trying another album, but I will make that next one Red for you. After all, I only thought to try this one because it was the one you recommended to me a while back. So thank you, Segue.
  9. I’m playing it again. I had Back To December on repeat for probably half an hour when I first heard it earlier today. I had to buy the whole album after that.
  10. Green Day - Nimrod The right balance of heartbroken and vindictive.
  11. Transatlanticism is probably better I agree, but I think Plans is still fantastic, just a little more accessible.
  12. Now there’s an album with great lyrics. What Sara Said always hits me hard.
  13. I bet it’s something other players do, I just never thought about it. I haven’t watched the others. Can you send them again?
  14. The bit about sending the signal from her pedalboard straight to the PA but also sending another signal through her big amp behind her so she can feel the guitar fascinates me. Not an option I’d ever considered.
  15. Counting Crows - August And Everything After I don’t think I’ve intentionally listened to this band since I started high school, I usually find them just very whiny and depressing… well today this was incredibly meaningful and soothing. Florence + The Machine - High As Hope This was my album of the year in 2018 when it came out. It was sad and powerful and somehow helped with the depression I felt that summer on a construction site every day… today it just made me angry. Needed to get away from it but I let it play out to the end. Journey - Frontiers I needed to hear Separate Ways. About 70% of the rest was also soothing and reaffirming, and a couple tracks towards the end are still just fluff. Not their best record, but you can’t top the highs.
  16. See the beauty of my desk job is I can listen to music while I work, hence the only giving most of these one or two spins unless they immediately stuck out to me as great.
  17. I challenged myself to get to at least one new album every week. If I didn’t get into it on first or second listen I didn’t bother trying harder for the most part. I suppose I could have given more of these more of a shot, but I’m very satisfied with those top ten, and a few outside as well. I spun them all a great deal.
  18. Yesterday: REO Speedwagon - Hi InFidelity Green Day - Nimrod Muse - Drones No albums yet today, but at some point I’ll get there. Also, to anyone who cares… I know I’ve been a lot less active on here lately. I got into and out of my first relationship over the last three months. Spending time on much else has been really difficult. But I am still alive and still listening to music all the time and I still care about my friends here.
  19. I listened to about 56 newly released albums last year (most of them only once or twice though) and this is how I ranked them. Paramore - This Is Why Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But A Dream... 100 Gecs - 10000 Gecs Good Game - Get Good Kesha - Gag Order Noname - Sundial Foo Fighters - But Here We Are Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust MisterWives - Nosebleeds Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS White Reaper - Asking For A Ride Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good! Squid - O Monolith Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter 5: In The Garden… Grouplove - I Want It All Right Now The Dirty Nil - Free Reign To Passions boygenius - The Record Shame - Food For Worms Genesis Owusu - Struggler Explosions In The Sky - End Gabrielle Aplin - Phosphorescent Olivia Jean - Raving Ghost Winery Dogs - III Swans - The Beggar Margot Price - Strays L’Rain - I Killed Your Dog Jockstrap - I<3QTINVU Post Malone - Austin Maneskin - RUSH! Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers - I Love You Within Temptation - Bleed Out André 3000 - New Blue Sun Black Pumas - Chronicles Of A Diamond Apashe - Antagonist Thomas Bangalter - Mythologies Open Mic Eagle - Another Triumph Of Ghetto Engineering Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We Blur - The Ballad Of Darren Soen - Memorial Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds Kim Petras - Problematique Tanukichan - GIZMO Kaytraminé - Kaytraminé Skrillex - Quest For Fire Nothing But Thieves - Dead Club City Janelle Monae - The Age Of Pleasure Portrayal Of Guilt - Devil Music Veil Of Maya - Mother Soft On Crime - New Suite Metallica - 72 Seasons Queens Of The Stone Age - In Times New Roman Blink-182 - One More Time… Miley Cyrus - Endless Summer Vacation Grupo Frontera - El Comienzo Taking Back Sunday - 152 Skrillex - Don't Get Too Close I think the last new one I tried before the end of the year was I/O by Peter Gabriel, which I remember liking but not thoroughly loving, and I may have been pulled away from my listening session slightly before the end by work. I’d say it would slot in somewhere around André 3000 and Within Temptation. EDIT: I did also listen to PetroDragonic Apocalypse by King Gizzard many months after it came out, but I forgot to rank it. I think it would go somewhere around Squid and Jessie Ware. It was really good. EDIT 2: Ope, and I listened to Stone by Baroness, which I really enjoyed. That would probably fall in around Shame and Genesis Owusu
