  1. Thank u. It is not just on trf, it is also on sm too. That just can't be very many people in the grand scheme of things, but I understand how even a few people can have a big impact. I really hope you feel better soon and can return here when you do. Thank u, but I may never return :( I'm sorry to hear that. Just know that you have been valued and you will be missed. It's sad to say farewell, but at the end of the day you have to do what is best for yourself. And just for good spirit, here's an old Irish blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. :D :Neil: :haz: :rush:

  3. Since I just woke up and haven't had many experiences today, I'm sad to say something has already made me sad. I logged on to the rush forum to discover GNP is leaving because they are tired of being treated poorly by many members here. I am really sorry for Peart and wish them the best.
  4. I'm really sorry about that. I always appreciated your posts and having another young Rush fan's opinion around. I hope you feel like maybe you could come back some day, but I understand if that's just not the case. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will miss having you around.
  5. Aw, I hope things are going well for you. I always like reading your posts around here, nice to have another young person to discuss Rush and other bands with. Can i ask why?
  6. Have you given Testament a try yet? Not yet, what do you recommend by them? I'm gonna go in the complete opposite direction of what most would probably say and recommend Dark Roots Of Earth. Newer, more aggressive Testament is the best Testament. Yes! J2112YYZ: "I'm gonna go the complete opposite direction of what most would probably say..." Segue Myles: "Yes!" Me: Why am I not surprised, lol. Anyway, neat, I'll check it out soon.
  7. Second fav on PoW 10/10 with Marathon

  9. Here's one! Aerosmith's classic Adam's Apple, which is filled with Old Testament references, versus AC/DC's classic Let There Be Rock (just the song), which is also filled with Old Testament references? Which one is better / you're favorite / a more spiritual experience for you?
  10. AC/DC is considered one of the greats for a few reasons, not least of which being the fact that Angus is a phenomenal player with a very thrilling, addicting, and distinctive style. I tend to prefer Aerosmith, but when I just want to rock out it doesn't get much better that AC/DC.
  11. Hm...well, as I have just gotten into thrash and metal, and as I am just beginning to get into each of the big four, I am starting to filter what I like better than what. That said, it's becoming apparent to me that my favorite of big four will likely be either Anthrax or Megadeth, with Metallica not far behind, and Slayer just not really being my taste (though not bad). So Megadeth.
  12. The whole album is metal perfection. Every metal fan should own it. Quit tempting me to spend money I don't have just because something is essential. :P I really want it though. Rust In Peace is worth spending money you don't have. It's not like it will put you in a hole you can't get out of like a stupid expensive concert ticket or something. Probably the most insane, yet great thrash metal guitar playing you'll ever hear. You may ask yourself how it's possible for Mustaine to have wrote and be able to play such things? Well, the answer is, cocaine is a hell of a drug. Mustaine can still play the songs really damn good live even though he's clean. Don't think an album like this would have happened though if he wasn't so coked/drunk out of mind back then. As for the band Pallbearer, i've heard the first two albums and enjoyed them. But that really slow doomy pace can get me kind of bored when listening to it. Not sure they would ever be a band who got regular rotation with me. That song is pretty good though. Okay...gah...eh...I need to make a plan for how I'm going to get all of these metal essentials I just started liking...I need to have at least one album from each of the super big classic metal bands and thrash bands (so Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, 'Tallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer...and maybe Motorhead and Pantera as well) within the next six months. As of now I only have a collection of 90s Maiden tracks, Anthrax - Among The Living, Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance, and Metallica - ...And Justice For All in the way of full metal albums. I've also just realized how awesome it would be to get Symphony Of Destruction (so then all of Countdown To Extinction) around summertime or vacation this year, it just sounds like music I could really connect to vacation...so with that in mind, maybe I won't be spoiling myself to much if I just go ahead and snag Rust In Peace on iTunes right now.... $7.99 is still about five dollars more than I really have set aside for music...but it's my money and dang it I can make it work. I'm buying it. I hope they offer the original recording and not just the remaster. The remaster sucks. A lot of the old recordings were lost, so Mustaine redid a lot of the guitars and vocals. The album really lost a lot of its feel with the remaster. Same with the other Megadeth albums from the 80s. Get the originals. Pretty sure it's the original. One of the top reviews says it is. Sounds great to me! Maybe I could get my dad into this; it's a lot more melodic than the other thrash bands. It's really more akin to Dream Theater than, say Ride The Lightning. Dad loves Dream Theater....hm.

  14. Lol, funny premise. Okay...either Peace Of Mind or Foreplay/Long Time...Peace Of Mind is better than Long Time, but the Foreplay intro is just bonkers and segues perfectly into long time...idk. There both great. I'll go with Foreplay/Long Time if only for the memory of listening to the debut on my first flight and having the part where Foreplay goes down to just keys perfectly line up with the breaking of the sun over the horizon.

  16. I've recently fallen in love with "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" by Megadeth and planned a trip out to a local record store I found nea my university using the bus system to see if they had Rust In Peace (or just any classic metal) for a cheaper price than iTunes on CD (or vinyl if I were really lucky). Sadly I walked out having spent four dollars on REM's Life's Rich Pageant and no budget for admitting defeat and buying the iTunes version. So I'll now be spending each day until I have he budget to get it dreaming about getting it and not giving into the urge to listen through it again on Spotify so I'll be happier when I have it. Am I crazy?
  17. I feel like after getting over my fear of roller coasters over the sat few years and climbing up in pretty tall castles in Ireland last year via centuries old poorly designed spiral staircases with ropes for railings...I think I could talk myself into going up any distance.
  18. I'd like to like this a few more times.
  19. "Except stinkin' Dolphins! Always flipping around and saying "oh look at me, I'm a flippy dolphin!"" Name the movie.
  20. Oh, and I'd take Hot Space over most anything else that came out that year, other than Signals and probably a couple metal albums. Yeah, I'm that big of a Queen fan. So underrated.
  21. ... I'm sorry guys, but I'm kind of seeing this Fraroc's way. I mean, I think it's perfectly understandable how someone could be really disappointed with a cover band that get's your hopes up like that and then dashes them just as quickly. I would be pretty disappointed if a band said they were gonna play some great 2000s rock in their set, for instance, and then proceeded only play a couple songs from that decade and have them both be pretty cliche and overplayed choices (maybe Coldplay's Clocks). If I was really ticked off about it, it might get me thinking how a ton of great music from that decade is always looked over, and if I really got to thinking about that, I might want to write a thread about it and try and see if anyone else is noticing what I'm noticing. I'm serious, I really don't think it's that far fetched as a thought process. Maybe Fraroc's argument here wasn't presented very well, and maybe his initial reason for wanting to make this thread sounds questionable, but maybe also you just won't take a closer look at his ideas because you're so used to never taking them seriously. I don't mean to offend anyone here, but maybe we could do a little less making fun and a little more trying to understand?
  22. You don't like Asia's debut? I would have thought that wold be the soundtrack to your life! yea that's an album i figured Segue would roll around in a field of flowers with. it's just such a segue-y record, lol Mick I honestly didn't even see it I was distracted by the other three haha So you don't like Signals then? Bottom three Rush album for me. You better take that back!! Nah...you can have Signals, Hemispheres and Rush. Enjoy! You don't like Hemispheres? What's your problem with that one?? Shrill meandering squeally nonsense. It's a heavy metal wonderland, power packed platinum prog, pure nitroglycerin! :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: Pass the bucket. Haha I'm not a fan. It's a heavy metal smorgasbord, a hurricane etched in plastic coming at you from all sides like a swarm of steel! I'd rather listen to Ride The Lighting That's because RTL is a better metal album than Hemispheres. Wow, this might be the most hate for Hemisphere's I've seen in one place. I almost feel sorry for the poor thing.
