  1. Jacob Collier - Djesse Vol. 4 Okay I’m not as blown away the second time as I was the first, but like, I definitely do enjoy this.
  2. Cloud Nothings - Final Summer Will I probably go see them live when they roll through town next month? Yeah. Does this record excite me? No not really. Just some solid melodic punk rock. I hear Pixies a bit.
  3. lol, well when you feel like stepping in, the water’s warm and relaxing.
  4. Another Sky Just discovered them last week, their new album has been really speaking to me.
  5. I suppose all the other great metal bands would be sorely missed if they all just stopped now, lol. Unrelated, I think you should check out the other album I posted today. Beach Day by Another Sky. I think you might enjoy it, very beautiful 90s influenced rock with gorgeous ethereal vox.
  6. Judas Priest - Invincible Shield I feel like there’s no reason for anyone else to write any new metal when JP do this, lol. Like, what’s there left to say? I kid, of course.
  7. After some consideration I’ve actually decided to hold off listening to this for a while. Not because I expect it to disappoint me in any way, just because it sounds like a really heavy emotional experience from everything I’m hearing about it, and I really need to avoid that for a while. Trying to keep to music that comforts and brightens me for a while. But I’m excited for when I am ready for it.
  8. Just a fun bit of stage banter, lol https://youtube.com/shorts/Vad_9ogD3Q8?feature=shared
  9. Moraz And Bruford - Music For Piano And Drums I had no idea this existed, and it is exactly what you would expect. Far out. Ornette Coleman - To Whom Who Keeps A Record Yes. Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum Totally rad, heavy psychy blues. Definitely not crossed the line into metal yet though. Metal starts with Black Sabbath, end of discussion.
  10. Labels today are more of a joke than they ever have been. And they have always been sketchy.
  11. Oh yes! This is definitely one of the best! Can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner! I love how it treats the end of side 1 and the start of side 2 especially.
  12. I mean I was already planning on giving it a listen this weekend, but name checking Back To December as a reference? *Now* I’m interested, lol.
  13. You need one of those old “that was easy” buttons, lol.
  14. What is the ideal sequence of tracks on an album. How many, what kinds, where do they go? Maybe it’s best to use examples. I think my platonic ideal of album design right now is this:
  15. Another Sky - Beach Day Oo, glad I decided to turn the page backwards and check out some records from earlier this year that I missed. This one should place high on my year end list.
  16. Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There Deftones - White Pony
  17. I’ve never connected with her. I think I heard Lemonade in full once on a long car ride with friends, and I was super impressed, but didn’t decide to go back and listen on my own. Not that I think that’s a failing on her part; I’m sure I’d just need to give her a proper chance, but I guess the weird part for me is I feel like I’ve never heard a single (solo) Beyoncé song in the wild that stuck with me. Single Ladies would be the one that did but I think that’s a Destiny’s Child track right?
  18. Jacob Collier - Djesse Vol. 4 I must be insane, because this just shot straight to the top of my 2024 aoty list. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s totally beatable, but I had no expectation of loving it out of the gate. He’s got the flavors of James Taylor, Coldplay, and 100 Gecs all mixed together in my ears and somehow balanced in a way that totally works for me.
  19. Woah wow! I just stumbled on the album she put out last year at the start of the year and it’s meant quite a lot to me! So cool that you have that connection :)
  20. yesterday Weezer - Weezer (Green Album) U2 - War Ornette Coleman - This Is Our Music Gabriel Aplin - Phosphorescent Ornette Coleman - The Shape Of Jazz To Come
  21. I don’t hate any of Rush’s most popular songs. That said, Faithless always irked me just a little. But I don’t really care about it much.
  22. Mine too. My dad and I just gush over Voices for instance
