  1. Lately I've been finding older films that my seventeen year old hasn't seen yet and came up with this one last night. I think Blake Edwards is terrific. http://www.moviesbyrizzo.info/VictorVictoria.jpg
  2. I've seen this before but thought it would be good for this thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ovp2MmdhD_M
  3. I just saw this last evening myself. A very enjoyable adventure, not perfect but it was more hit than miss to me. As far as the "wonder" I've seen that word thrown around a lot does anybody really believe that an idea already known for over seventy years can be a wonder a second time? True fact the original Wizard of Oz was a theatrical flop. It wasn't until it hit television that it became a darling of American audiences. That's interesting...I haven't read any reviews so I haven't seen the word 'wonder' tossed about. And yes, I think an idea that's been around for decades can still generate awe and excitement. Think about popular characters and other fictional works...especially fantasy novels. I see your point but I was mainly talking about rehashes in film. I've read several reviews mentioning that "Oz" lacked the wonder of the original. That being said I found it enjoyable enough I hope there is at least on more prequel type like this before they try and tackle The Wizard of Oz..
  4. "What's the story Norm?" "Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. Boy meets another beer."

  6. There are too many songs I like spread out over their career to pick one album. I chose Past Masters volume two just for being the best choice available.
  7. Buuurrrrr. Tough crowd in this thread lol. After scratching my head about the casting of Craig as Bond I decided to watch Casino Royale. After seeing the movie I asked myself How I could have doubted him. If it's not obvious by now Craig is the best Bond to me. My favorite Bond Films. Casino Royale Goldfinger From Russia with Love The Spy Who Loved Me. For your Eyes Only Skyfall
  8. The Unforgiven is another one that deserved it, and has both Clint and Freeman. But you probably already knew that! LOL I have it on Blu-Ray. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01177/arts-graphics-2007_1177744a.jpg

  10. I'm going to make this simple. I grew up on old Star Trek loving it but the Latest Star Trek is a shot in the arm the series needed.

  12. Normally I'm exited to post new movies I watch but lately I've been more exited to re-watch a few memories. Tonight I start with one of the most deserving winners of Best Picture Oscar I've ever seen. I don't remember thinking that way the first time I saw it but after revisiting this masterpiece tonight I am truly blown away. http://www.imgjoe.com/x/milliondlzl.jpg
  13. That the previous day has ended, meaning that I have to get up.
  14. I believe what is stated, that it was just bad information and you meant 2013? :) http://www.musictap....els-dvd-update/
  15. I don't understand why anybody would have a problem with this type of album. If you're looking for a personal music project to work on maybe it makes sense, I don't judge Rush albums on how complex they are just on the enjoyment of the listening experience.
  16. Atlantic Records claim's that CP went platinum as well as claiming that RTB went double platinum. CP did not sell as high but had a higher debut and "Leave that thing alone" was nominated for a Grammy. So an album not selling as well means that a band lost hundreds and thousands of fans? That's silly and makes no difference to me anyway. CP is a great album and one of my favorites. If RTB went double platinum and CP platinum (I don't believe this to be true in the US), it means that about a million less people bought the album. It could be less than that, and it could be more. But 1 million is the average. I've always read that RTB was platinum and CP was gold, meaning that approx. 500k fewer people bought it. That's people voting with their wallets. Yes those are RIAA statistics, Atlantic made their own claims so I can't say which is correct. Without actual numbers everything is really speculation. Even with the RIAA estimates what is the difference? RTB could be one million and CP might be nine hundred something thousand lol. Justin Bieber probably outsells Rush 10 to 1, does that make him better?

  18. Another thing that some may forget is that Rush has gone through three tours in five years which takes a toll on anybody, especially these guys at sixty years old. If they don't tour for a couple of years that's ok with me I'll just enjoy them more when they do come.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb9q1ScC4cgDirt Road = Big C&W hit Yeah I'm chillin' on a dirt road Laid back swervin' like I'm George Jones Smoke rollin' out the window An ice cold beer sittin' in the console :D Only one word comes to mind....................Really?
  20. Oh come on now, Counterparts isn't bad at all. Counterparts is great. :ebert: Ditto-Counterparts rocks, that is all.
  21. I have your solution................... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rKWp9Vp7Aag/SeGuPM8RfwI/AAAAAAAAAM0/IgZL4CyDPls/s320/21spike_jeremy_ron,0.jpg
  22. I can't believe I forgot Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction Gun's N' Roses Metal? Not to me, at least the definition I grew up with. Truthfully I never looked at most of the seventies groups as metal either. They may have been pioneers of it or a beginning phase but no one called these groups metal until the genre got popular in the eighties. What's your definition of "metal?" Sorry I took so long to respond. In a simple definition Metal is pretty much louder, harder, faster. The bands I feel embodied this philosophy were groups like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Merciful Fate, Anthrax, Raven and so on. The next group is Metal but with a little more commercial sound but still retaining that Metal band quality. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Dio. I might not be helping myself here. I know i'm not technically coming up with the "Aha" that's why explanation but maybe it's just because I got into Metal at sixteen in 1983 At that time I had never heard Rock of the seventies being referred to as "Metal". It just seems to me that the term has been universally applied to any hard edged rock making it bit watered down. We're the same age. I can't agree with you that how "commercial" something may be makes it more or less metal. I don't think You've Got Another Thing Coming, or Rainbow in the Dark, or No One Like You, are less "metal" just because they get played on the radio, or because people who aren't into metal have those songs on their iPod. Welcome to the Jungle, and even Sweet Child O'Mine, are metal songs, even if they are melodic. Is Enter Sandman or I Disappear more metal than Anything Goes or It's So Easy? I think only if your criteria is if it's Metallica it's metal, if it's GNR it's not. Incidentally, I would say Black Sabbath is a metal band (maybe even the first) and their best work is from the late 60s to the very early 80s. You are not wrong, Many people and historical description agree with you. I guess I just look at it a little differently and want to more specifically separate Metal from hard rock although many people deem them one and the same. Oh when I mentioned commercial I didn't mean less Metal. I was just trying to separate some of the metal subsets like "Power Metal" Thrash Metal" "Glam Metal" etc.
