  1. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 16 2007, 03:51 PM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Mar 16 2007, 03:50 PM) Like I said I gotta get Travis to replace disc #1 but the music starts off good and just seems to get better. I have now worked through to #6 and song 5 probably is my favorite so far. Crazy playing. Is something wrong with your disc 1 mate? Yeah and my post above can be ignored as I thought you were talking about the first song on #6 which is also insane. I do think disc #1 is defective and that subject has come up on the TDRS forum. I am not too worried about it as Travis has said they will replace those that are defective. The other 5 have played just fine though. I have grown to like Peppers Ghost but ISOT just seems real easy to love...
  2. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 16 2007, 03:49 PM) JESUS, track 6 on vol 1 is the most insane Buckethead blowing session ever!! Yeah #1 is right up my alley too! Kinda tripping.

  4. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 16 2007, 02:03 PM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Mar 15 2007, 09:03 PM)Well I have progressed to Disc #4- E. I think my copy of Disc #1 skips, either that or its some of the most tripping music I have ever heard. Lots jazzy licks mixed with the ripping. Hope you enjoy yours tomorrow Treeduck! Ok I picked mine up today and I got #219. Here's some quick crappy webcam pics... http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/7871/picture009fa3.jpg http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/7115/picture006sy3.jpg http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5069/picture002ea5.jpg Not had a chance to listen to any of them yet... I'm gonna give this a spin first, which I ordered with the set... http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5129/delicreepsus2.jpg Very nice. I must admit, I have never been so overwhelmed by a new release. The music is great and all but I am refering to the staggering quantity of new material to digest. Its a good problem to have though. Thanks for the Metheny recommedations. I will try to Still Life again if I can break free from the grip of ISOT!
  5. QUOTE (Kubla @ Mar 16 2007, 08:02 AM) I'm a new DT fan....because of what has been said on here. I recently got 'Images' and 'Scenes' and I keep playing them both...and indication to myself that I like what I'm hearing. If I don't the album gets dumped. Is 'Scenes' supposed to be DT's answer to PF's 'The Wall'? It does seem to be in the same ilk. I notice lots of PF related sounds and I even wondered whether one track was a tribute to Roger Waters, as it sounds just like him - forget the name of the track now [PS I am aware of their remake of DSOTM] I even hear some Hawkwind overtones (esp HW from the mid '90s). Is this deliberate? Some parts of Images sound like Guns'n'Roses, and sometimes sounding like Genesis, Supertramp, Journey and even Camel from the early '70s. I understand it when peeps say that some of the guitar work is a bit OTT and seems to weedle on a bit, out of context with the song, but in general I really like what I've heard. Any recommendations for my next album??? Go for the new DVD-Score Or if you really like the music ( and not all that crazy about the singing, like me) try the Liquid Tension Experiment discs
  6. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 10 2007, 08:59 PM) QUOTE (double bass chick @ Mar 10 2007, 05:00 PM) I think he is pehenomenol also. I think his bucket & mask gimmick is cheesy, but my gosh, that guy can frickin play. I saw an interview with Ozzy & he said he wanted Buckethead to play with him. Ozzy said he drove him nuts. They would be alone in a room talking about possibly touring & talking one on one & Oz said he wouldn't shut off the act even when they were alone. Oz said he kept calling him Brian & he got so pissed off at Ozzy & saying, "Don't ever call me Brian, my mother calls me Brian- call be Buckethead". Oz said this guy can play unbelievable but he is out of his head". He said screw it!:rfl: Imagine Oz saying that???!!!! I am a big Pat Metheny fan, (jazz virtuoso), & he said he even keeps up with Buckethead. He thinks he is incredible also. You have to admit, his style is like no other. Unique indeed I'm a Pat Metheny freak too... I guess I need some guidance with Pat. I saw him once in the 90's and thought it was a good show. I am not into the Lyle Mays aspect of Pats music if you know what I mean? Whats his best studio disc? I have Still Life ( Talking) which I am not all that crazy about. I put a link in the Steely Dan thread below where you can get a MP3 of Pat doing a very cool solo as a guest of SD.

  9. QUOTE (thesweetscience @ Mar 15 2007, 06:50 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 15 2007, 05:48 PM) QUOTE (thesweetscience @ Mar 15 2007, 04:45 PM) I just can't take a guy seriously who wears a bucket of chicken on his head. Just seems kind of rediculous. I think that's everyone's first thought about him, some people look further than that first thought and some people don't... If hes that good he should scrap the gimmicks and just play. The gimmicks are distracting. Check out some the links to videos I posted on page 2 and see for yourself. I guess I favor his "gimmicks" and I bet if you saw him live you would too. Like i described earlier in this thread there almost a "carnival" atomosphere at his shows. Its hard to explain but so is everything else about him.
  10. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 15 2007, 06:16 PM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Mar 15 2007, 06:05 PM) What I've heard so far is wonderful. Listening right now to S #1, which is a funky little jam with a "prince" like tone. I'm down for naming 4 of these tracks for the Buckethead.tk ISOT song title draft, are you involved with that Tangy? No I have been meaning to join the TK board though. Is that the most active buckethead board?

  15. QUOTE (D-13 @ Mar 13 2007, 10:30 AM) QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Mar 13 2007, 03:40 AM) Wow amazing musical insight, as always in this subforum. Keep up the good work. Right on! What a load of horseshit. What a waste of time. Nothing but negative........................
  16. I think it was on National Geographic. Its been years so hopefully i can recall correctl. Basicallly a homeless family in NYC builds a ship out of stuff being thrown away and builds this boat names it Son of Town Hall and sails to a Ireland in it. I'd love to see it again. http://www.floatingneutrinos.com/son%20of%...own%20Hall.html http://www.floatingneutrinos.com/images/2_small.jpg
  17. QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 10 2007, 02:16 AM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Mar 9 2007, 09:23 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 9 2007, 01:46 PM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Mar 9 2007, 12:11 PM) Just received my copy of Peppers Ghost. It can be reviewed with one word - wow! the man is a genius. Yeah it's a great one, I didn't do a review when you asked Tangy because I needed more time to absorb it... I just finished my 4th listen today. My musical world has been turned upside down since "discovering" Buckethead. Since the late 1980's I thought no one was better than Steve Vai....... Well I always had Holdsworth way above Steve, let's face it even Steve has Holdworth way above Steve... There's lots of great players out there though who are Buckethead's own age, Brett Garsed, Andy Timmons, Guthrie Govan, Bumblefoot, Greg Howe, Joel Hoekstra, Paul Gilbert... I always thought Steve Morse and Eric Johnson measured up well to Vai too... Thats true there no shortage of great players. In my book what seperates Buckethead is the staggering amount of quality product he has put out. Granted I don't own it all yet. Another consideration is his ability to play just about any style of music. Can you name a more diverse player? Plus he is "funky".
