  1. Could be Zakk Wylde as well I think…. http://cbskluv2.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/zakk_wylde.jpg
  2. Is this the guy? http://www.vandohalen.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/mikePortnoy.jpg http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/noisecreep.com/files/2011/04/mike-portnoy-davembenettgettyimages.jpg
  3. No, he's not the one with the hat. He's sitting on a beige sofa with a lamp at each end, his arm is resting on a pillow, and he has one leg tucked up and under the other. He's about twenty pounds overweight and has very dark brown hair. He is right after the Smashing Pumpkins guy. They are all talking about La Villa. Hmmm… when you said Charles Manson eyes I thought you were talking about Jack Black. But maybe you mean Mike Portnoy, the ex-drummer from Dream Theater… he talked a bit about LVS and what a great drum song it is. I think he also mentioned YYZ.
  4. I didn't mind the Jack Black interview so much, though I do agree his singing TSOR was a bit cheesy. All in all, i liked what he had to say, and came away from it thinking he is a true Rush fan. I'm 99% sure he was either tripping or really high on some amazingly good weed though. The part of BTLS that bothered me twas when Neil said that Moving Pictures was "when Rush became Rush". As if everything prior to MP was worthless.

    Nice

Very cool stuff! Thanks for sharing.
  6. My Magic 8-Ball says that your roommate's father's apparent old college buddy is usually full of shit.
  7. I vote for Feedback.
  8. Another fantabulous performance indeed! Cut to the Chase (one of my top 10 favorites post Moving Pictures) is a great addition to an already impressive repertoire. Looking forward to Rams Head Live!
  9. Since KennyLee is too modest, here you go. Keep in mind that as good as these two videos sound, they sound MUCH. MUCH better in person. And BTW, these guys are playing tonight at JB McGinnes in New Castle, DE. Be there or be square! http://youtu.be/ixa_8l0wajw http://youtu.be/EVhMDrMvG5o
  10. IT's finally here!!! Looking forward to another awesome kRUSH show this evening! If anyone is on the fence about going, I promise you will love these guys. And JB McGinnes is very easy to get to… it's only about 1 mile off of I-95. Hope to see you there! :haz:
  11. No, no, no, no, no…. the best song on VT is Peaceable Kingdom, which I'm happy to say has been surprisingly well represented in this thread! What You're Doing By-Tor Beneath, Between, & Behind Hemispheres Circumstances (Parts of The Necromancer are as heavy as it gets, but overall not as heavy as some others) Can't believe I'm leaving Bastille Day off this list but I can only choose 5... List #2: Headlong Flight Peaceable Kingdom Cut to the Chase Afterimage Malignant Narcissism
  12. True indeed, but 'Return of the Prince' from the same album is, IMO, the most melodic piece of music (and the best melody) that Rush has ever recorded. Especially the guitar solo. Listen to it once and the tune is still in my a week later (not that that's a bad thing)!
  13. From your lips to Ged's ears…
  14. I also think the early section of Vital Signs features some nice high-hat work.
  15. Nice call! I swear I was going post the same thing. Lessons is one of my favorites! :goodone:
  16. Subdivisions and Time Stand Still are tied at the top of my list. It always baffles me in threads like this that Tom Sawyer gets brutalized yet Subdivisions remains unscathed. Subdivisions has received equal fanfare and airplay (or very close to it), and it has been played on every tour since its release, but is it honestly that great of a song??? IMO, Tom Sawyer is a considerably better song. And I agree that both have been overplayed and over recognized, but as I see it, Tom Sawyer is: A.- a much better song than Subdivisions B - criticized eons more than Subdivisions I just don't get it.
  17. That's a good one, but I still prefer YYZ2112.
  18. I seriously doubt Rush will ever do a "Farewell Tour". They have been touring a lot recently because they love their new music, love playing to live audiences, and they feel like they are playing as well as or better now than they ever have (this is all according to them).
  19. Well, they usually only do Rush songs, but if you come over to Delaware from Sweden, maybe they'll play Focus - Hocus Pocus for you. How well can you yodel Kenny?
  20. Damn, I was hoping you guys would be starting at @ 7:00.
  21. There are a multitude. A few: Between the Wheels Natural Science Peaceable Kingdom Cut to the Chase Beneath, Between, & Behind
  22. Regarding the "experimental" part of the question, I honestly don't think Red Lenses is really all that different from the rest of GUP.
  23. I voted for the first choice (message of song), as I think that is essentially the general theme of Red Lenses. But as usual with Rush lyrics I think one can also find some deeper (perhaps self-imagined) meanings as well. For instance: "And truth is often bitter Left unsaid Said red, red Thinking about the overhead The underfed Couldn't we talk about something else instead?" Our society seems to have a tendency to focus on a few sensationalized large scope issues (Cold War) while overlooking or ignoring smaller scope issues (homelessness, starvation). I can't say with any certainty that Neil was alluding to that phenomena in this passage, but that is what it makes me think about when I hear or read it.
  24. You need to go back and spend a few hours over the next few weeks listening to the song and come back to me in a month or two. You mean like I have for the last month? Look, i've given it due reflection, but it still hurts my said trying to find absolution in my rational point of view: RED LENSES IS NOT METAL Sigh… another argument of semantics (i.e. exercise in futility). Quite obviously the argument here has little or nothing to do with Red Lenses, but rather is a difference in opinion as to what should or should not be classified Heavy Metal… a subject that has been debated in great detail with no resolution in (at least) two other threads in this forum. Red Lenses "is what it is and whatever/forever". How it gets classified is in the eyes and perception of the beholder/listener. "You can twist perceptions… reality won't budge."
