QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Sep 19 2012, 06:34 PM) QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Sep 19 2012, 05:44 PM) QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Sep 19 2012, 05:32 PM) I completely reject the notion that Signals was a major departure for Rush. That narrative is in serious need of revision. I'm convinced that too many fans have allowed that assertion to cloud their judgment of the record. It is a beautifully written, performed, and produced album. I'd elaborate if I had time. Right.....it was a natural Progression. Mick Can't tell if you are being sarcastic. But I do indeed intepret it as a natural progression. It's the next logical step after Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. And aesthetically, I don't consider Signals that different from the two records that proceeded it. I consider Permanent Waves more of a departure than Signals. I know there are others who agree because we've entertained this discussion in the past. I don't want to debate Signals. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. I'd rather leave it alone and love it. No sarcasm here. I can agree that You can almost say the previous 2 albums were synthy. They had synths just not nearly as many. but they were there Mick

QUOTE (Thunder Bay Rush @ Sep 17 2012, 09:37 AM) I'm really not much of a computer guy, I go on this site and a couple others. I check my emails once a day, at best. But, I was curious to see if other people were complainng about the set list, or if it was just a weird thing on this site, so I went to a few other Rush sites, and yep, lots of grumbling. At least more than I would have expected. But, here is what I DO NOT understand... This tour - this one that some people are whining about, is called the ... get ready for it - the "Clockwork Angels Tour." During the "Tour of the Hemispheres," Rush played all of that album. During the "A farewell To Kings Tour," they played nearly all of that album. During the "Permanent Waves Tour" they played nearly all of that album. So, if there are people out there who are really that misinformed that they expect a band to spend a year and tons of money making a new album - and then go out and play Finding my Way, Passage To Bankok and Anthem all night, they must be retards. There's my non-politically statement of the day. So, please, stop your goddam complaining and consider yourselves LUCKY that your favourite band, or at least ONE of your favourites bands is STILL even working after 40 EFFING years - and - to me, "working" means NEW material, a NEW (and very expensive) tour and possibly a NEW concert DVD. Rush is NOT blended into a Festival Tour with six other bands that could never headline in today's market accept for maybe in 1500 seat theaters. Especially since this is album is like the goose that laid the golden egg to some....ah well, rock on Mick

bluefox4000 replied to Tombstone Mountain's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Well.....now that I've heard the Comedy of Errors FLAC (i don't see myself getting out to a show this time) I can say I LOVE the 80's synth leanings. Sorry for those of you who don't. Man am i in my glory CA Materiel......it is so much better hearing it without the mush. Sure some songs i don't think i'll ever like.....Caravan Carnies, Wish them Well. Much better overall though. Ah.....great set. Mick -
"I'd be OK never hearing that song again"

QUOTE (Mushfan @ Sep 13 2012, 10:44 AM) So I guess when Peart's snare disappears in the title track or when Alex's acoustic is too loud in the Garden, or when Geddy's vocals get buried, it's just part of the "modern" sound. Sorry man, a bad mix is a bad mix...regardless of the era. That's why i'm Dying for a live release. Cause the albums a sonic mush. Mick

ugh.....2112. No matter, still a kick ass set list Mick

Time MAchine Tour or Clockwork Angels Tour
bluefox4000 replied to losingit2k's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I went with the CA tour.....have not seen it, Don't know if I will. But I just love that they went full out synth period for set 1. And not a big fan of CA, but I have been dying to hear these songs live...so set 2 is a-ok. The TM tour....Cool that they played MP live, but the Mid-point of set 1 just drags. I know someone else here had the same view. But I just thought Set 1 started with a bang....then flatline. I could really do with never hearing 2112 or Working Man ever again. Yes i know they alternate 2112 on the CA tour. sum it up....CA gets the nod. Mick
