  1. QUOTE (robertjames1971 @ Jun 13 2012, 01:00 PM) I tend to go for ending the album with a bang. The Garden ends Clockwork Angels with a sigh. It's perfect. But... for me I would say the best closer is Natural Science, with La Villa as a close second although I think Clockwork Angels may be better than either of those albums overall. That's probably just the newness speaking, but I freakin' love this record. Very bold for you to say, my friend! Natural Science is very difficult to beat!
  2. QUOTE (robertjames1971 @ Jun 13 2012, 12:54 PM) They better not read this forum. If they did they'd learn what a bunch of twits we are and they would surely pack it in for good! True story.

How do you KNOW that this statement is true? Again, I cannot see how such a statement is not 100% conjecture. Many seem to be imagining this perfect mix exists, when it's entirely conceivable that it does not. And I agree 100% with the OP: this album is the best Rush album in at least 25 years, I don't give a damn what the trolls think. They put it all together (finally) in this offering. Soak it in people, this is greatness on display. So a troll is someone who doesn't think CA is a perfect 10 across the board in songwriting and sonics? Grow up. And there could very well have been a better mix unless the recording engineers are incompetent too, which I doubt. The existence of better sounding production tells me that it could have been possible with this record. Like I said...Chill pill. Chill pill = bury your head in the sand I don't understand why I would need a chill pill? Because I want the best quality, especially when I know it is possible? Should I just strive for mediocrity instead? This is a music-based discussion. Nothing I say or think here affects me so much as to warrant the taking of any medications. See, that's what I mean. If it's just a little bit less than "perfect" quality, people tend to start complaining. I'm just saying, man. Don't let one/two little problems in a few songs take away from your experience and call it "mediocre". It's Rush...Take it as it is. Enjoy the music. Is it possible to love the album but wish it sounded better? Trust me, you did not make it sound like that.
  4. How can that even be a question for me?

  8. I've got the Fan Pack...Going to get the vinyl when I fix my dad's record player.

  10. THANK YOOOU! Our modern day society is so caught up in HD and quality that it blinds us from the real purpose. I mean, it's always nice to have good quality on music but some people need to take a chill pill.
  11. Rush is slowly...but surely. Taking over the universe.
  12. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Jun 13 2012, 10:47 AM) QUOTE (Sticklight @ Jun 3 2012, 04:27 PM) Closer To The Heart Hope this helps you Dude, CTTH is not a beginner's bass song at all (IMO). Agreed. lol. That song rocks out on bass.
  13. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 13 2012, 10:56 AM) QUOTE (ShlappinDahBass @ Jun 13 2012, 09:06 AM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 13 2012, 12:23 AM) It's really a shame rock singles don't mean anything nowdays. I think both Garden and Wreckers would have possible top 10 chart potential. What was Rush's highest chart? I think it was New World Man at #24 if memory serves me right. I'm surprised, Tom Sawyer wasn't like...#1 or 2? Tom Sawyer is if you're talking about rock charts. Probably a top 10 of all time but as far as the overall pop charts I think Rush has only been as high as #24. I'm pretty sure Big Money cracked the top 40 briefly but I'm not sure if other songs have. Goootchya. Thanks for clarifying.

Shoot, I do almost every time! Me too, and I don't care who knows it. Hell, my blubbering at a Rush concert is immortalized on the Time Machine DVD! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW39n-KuRaU Check out 4:28 on. You'll see WHOA! WHAT!? THAT'S YOU! Everytime I watch the DVD, that's always the "one girl at a Rush concert" that pops out for me. There are a few of us!!! I'm in there a few more times but that moment is by far the most humiliating (and special to me)! Haha, yes. I recognize you in a few others. That's mind-boggling to me as of right now. I think there's a shot of you during BU2B, as well?
  15. QUOTE (kentpilot @ Jun 13 2012, 02:00 AM) Some people need to understand Rush recorded no songs with an Orchestra They've only used a String Quartet THIS IS AN ORCHESTRA http://salemchamberorchestra.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/feature_orchestra.jpg This is a string quartet http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/fromthetop/media/204/204-the-ridere-string-quartet.jpg An orchestra Rush show would probably be one special event not an entire tour. I heard it was an orchestra...
  16. So, I've been hearing rumors over the past few years that there will be movie being released solely on Spider-Man's main nemesis, Venom. If that is the case. I will be so happy beyond belief. Does anyone have any further evidence on this matter?
  17. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 13 2012, 10:05 AM) "Yeah, the guy wearing the $4,000 suit is holding the elevator for the guy who doesn't make that in four months. Come on!!!" lol. The Christmas party thing was a success of an episode.

It's so annoying. But when Gob does it, I laugh so hard. 2:10 in that video....Oh my gosh. I lost it. Thank you for sharing.
  20. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jun 13 2012, 09:34 AM) i love something for nothing. any chance they might be able to pull that off on tour? Very doubtful.
  21. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 13 2012, 07:01 AM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Jun 13 2012, 07:53 AM) Great song, the strongest closing song to an album since Between the Wheels on GUP. Mystic Rhythms was pretty strong too. And Available Light and You Bet Your Life.

I have the fanpack one...which has the triangle design on it. And it's not in a sleeve like the Fan Pack is! I hate sleeves... Yeah, but that one looks like an actual digipak, which I hate. The fanpack had the hard cover, which is a million times better IMO! Agree and exactly why I splurged yesterday and bought the fan pack after the fact. I can't believe I'm actually considering going to purchase another one of these "regular" versions...just to have the different disc and booklet. No-one can tell me I don't spend money on the boys! I wanted to get the vinyl...But I was too late. Why is it too late to get the vinyl? http://www.amazon.com/Clockwork-Angels-Rus...tmm_vnl_title_0 Ohp. Oh. My. Gosh. I was only looking at the Rush shop for the vinyl. You, my friend, have just made my life even more amazing.
  23. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 13 2012, 09:36 AM) Honestly, and I might be alone with this...but I think CA was actually a bit of a letdown from an artistic point-of-view. I guess I expected more with the whole 'steampunk' theme. To me, Snakes & Arrows was miles better in terms of the art. Hugh was a beast with S&A...with all those amazing images for each individual song. To me, S&A was better...but CA has some fantastic images still. I just wanted more! Agreed. Steampunk is my favorite artistic style of eras. When I heard they were basing this album off of a steampunk world, I almost lost it. And it is kind of a let down with a scarce amount of it in the pictures. Don't get me wrong, they're glorious pictures. But hyped up the steampunk theme.
